ILOSM fam, tragedy has struck the Cole family yet again. Just 20 months after Natalie Cole’s death her son, Robert Yancy, has also passed. According to TMZ, Yancy’s body was found at his apartment in San Bernardino Valley, California. After not hearing from him for a few days, a friend went over to check on him and made the harrowing discovery.

Yancy’s family members were reportedly notified around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15. It has been reported that Yancy’s death has been listed as natural causes due to a heart attack. However, local law enforcement has stated that the cause of death could change once the autopsy and toxicology reports are complete. Shortly after Yancy’s tragic death, Natalie’s former backup singer Anita Anderson took to Twitter with an announcement about his death, reports the Daily Mail.

“We have lost another great young soul too soon!! Robert Adam Yancy, Natalie Cole’s only surviving son and accomplished drummer has died!! She later added, “Rest in peace as you journey home with mom & dad! And know you’re always in our hearts son!! Love you and miss you already!!!”

Since his mother courageously faced an ongoing battle drug abuse, the media immediately speculated that Yancy’s death may have been the result of some form of substance abuse, but the family has said they were told drugs were not involved. However, his untimely death is still quite similar to that of his parents because they both died from heart conditions. Natalie Cole died of congestive heart failure at the age of 65 and his father, Marvin Yancy, died of a heart attack at age 34.
