Xavier “Two” Lewis – the husband of former 3LW singer/”Power” actress, Naturi Naughton –  recently shared a heartfelt update on his health via Instagram. Lewis, a talent manager, revealed that his health took a turn for the worse after being prescribed steroids for bronchitis. This resulted in months of struggling with his health, including multiple hospital visits.

In Lewis’s own words, he described his journey, saying:

“These past three months have been very challenging. I came down with bronchitis on December 13. My cough never went away, which led me to go to the doctor for something more substantial to knock it out.”

Little did he know that the medication he was taking to treat his bronchitis would have life-altering consequences. Lewis continued:

“I started taking the medicine in January. On January 9, I started experiencing back and chest pains. By January 10th, I thought I was having a heart attack.”

His pain was so severe that he found himself in and out of the hospital, undergoing numerous tests:

“I was in so much pain I felt I was dying, and that would be my last day,” he added. “I went to the hospital and doctors about six times in January. They gave me blood pressure pills and things for cholesterol. They ran test after test. Everything came up great. But I felt worse & worse. I felt weak, slow, unbalanced when I walked, tired, I couldn’t hold down any food, and my acid reflux was like fire in my body at all times. I tried IVs and all kinds of vitamins. I couldn’t get my body to act right.”

After many medical consultations, Lewis and his doctors finally discovered the root cause of his health issues. It was revealed that the steroids and medication he had been taking for bronchitis had filled his body with glucose, leading to a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. Lewis described this moment as mind-blowing and shared his fears, having witnessed the devastating effects of diabetes on loved ones in the past:

“They ran test after test, and the next day, the doctor came in and said I was now Diagnosed as type two Diabetic,” Lewis revealed. “What a mind-blowing moment. I stayed calm, but my internal thoughts were all over. I’ve seen people I love die & get amputated because of this. My A1C level was so high the hospital couldn’t even chart it. I thought that was unbelievable because my a1c was just 4.7 in November, so how is this even possible? I wasn’t even pre-diabetic.”

“They explained to me that the steroids & medicine I was taking filled my body with glucose, and my body couldn’t make enough insulin to get it out. So this is my new life,” he shared. “They woke me up every Two hours like clockwork to draw blood & test me. I even had to watch the Superbowl in the hospital.”

With his blood sugar levels through the roof, Lewis was admitted to the hospital for further observation and treatment. Throughout his ordeal, he expressed immense gratitude for his wife, Naturi Naughton, who has been a pillar of support during this challenging time. Lewis credited Naughton for being there for him and providing the strength to overcome his health struggles.

In a heartfelt message to Naughton, Lewis expressed his deep love and appreciation for her unwavering support, acknowledging that she truly is the real MVP in his life:

“After what has seemed like the entire last three months, I’m not sick! I’m out of the hospital and feeling stronger. They always say to watch who you marry, and that’s so true. My wife has been heaven-sent,” he wrote, sharing videos of her combing his hair and lying next to him. “@naturi4real you are the real MVP! Love You. I promise I’ll be here.”

Naturi responded to her hubby’s words of gratitude with this comment on his Instagram post:

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic health condition that affects the body’s ability to transform food into energy. Unfortunately, it disproportionately affects Black people, who are more likely to be diagnosed with and suffer from diabetes-related complications.

Unfortunately infighting and drama caused original band member Naturi Naughton to leave the group and for years there was speculation that it was because of a huge blowup with fellow members Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams. Though they’ve avoided addressing the drama directly Naturi is now ready to speak and tell everyone exactly what went down between them so many years ago.

Two Sides Of A Story

Naturi has since grown into a formidable actress with roles in the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious as well as portraying high maintenance hood chick Tasha St. Patrick on STARZ’s hit show Power, However, there still must be a few unresolved feelings from her time with the group. Even as recently as a few years ago when Adrienne apologized to her during an appearance on The Real, where Adrienne serves as one of the hosts.

Adrienne’s apology aside, Naturi still wants everyone to know exactly what went down so there’s no confusion as to why she left. BET reports that during an episode of TV One’s hit show Uncensored Naturi discussed an alleged infamous incident that lead to her ultimate departure in the parking lot of a KFC.

“[In our Suburban] Kiely and Adrienne were in the middle aisle and I was in the back by myself,” she remembered. “I said, ‘I’m not the one that’s trying to kick me out the group. Don’t be mad that the news is out, ’cause it’s true!’ There were some names called, some profanity thrown. Kiely turned around and threw a plate of food — mashed potatoes, chicken, whatever else was in there — in my face.”

Of course, it didn’t take long for one of Naturi’s former band mates to speak out. Kiely Williams, who has since left the music business entirely, immediately took to social media to tell her side of the story.

Kiely Accuses Naturi Of ‘New Lies’

According to BET Kiely is not here for any of Naturi’s lies and wanted to set the record straight that she has long moved on from any 3LW drama, primarily focusing on her new role as a mother. In a since deleted post to Instagram she had this to say.

“I’m over here being a mom, literally bothering no one, and I hear, ‘Naturi Naughton tells all what really happened at KFC,'” she said. “I let that s**t go… But then I hear that not only did I pie her in the face with chicken and mashed potatoes, [but] we left her on the side of the road.”

“First of all, no we didn’t, and second of all, why?” she added. “Why would you need to make up new lies? Were the old ones not working anymore?… I’m not in the entertainment industry anymore. I’m a mom. I’m over here. You are on a hit television show. Why do you need this?”

Looks like there’s still some unresolved issues within the group and, everyone has their own side of the story. Perhaps the real Uncensored episode needs to be with all three original members of the group. Stay tuned.

Rumors Surfaced

3LW was the hottest group in the early 2000s with hit after hit, like “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right) these spunky little women sang to our teenage hearts. Then one day 3LW was no more. Then came rumors that group member Kiely Williams had something to do with lead singer Naturi Naughton being axed from the group.

Many years have since gone by and these women now lead separate lives and careers–finally, the fans can get some closure on whether or not it was colorism or Kiely who had something to do with Naturi leaving the group.

Shortly after leaving 3LW Naturi stated on the Wendy Williams Radio Show, she was “forced off the road to leave” because Keily threw a plate of hot food in her face and she was being verbally abused and mistreatment from management. Naturi, says “it all started with the whole urban thing”– and 3LW needed to gain their urban market, that means Naturi had to be the urban poster child.. always wearing Timbs–be the thug urban girl. Management wasn’t satisfied with her image and wanted her to get the urban image. Then management turned the other two members of the group Kiely and Adrienne Bailon aginst Naturi and after the food being thrown in her face was the end and Naturi decided to leave after that.

Meet The Papi

As far as we know, Naturi’s boyfriend, Ben, has yet to put a ring on it, but that most definitely is not a declaration of a lack of love between them. They’ve happily been dating for many years and he’s oftentimes right there by Naturi’s side at public events. Ben is apparently a private dude, so there are very few pics of him circulating for all the world to see. However, Naturi did share photo of them together at their prior baby shower, so here he is…

No Pain, No Gain- Her 3LW Heartbreak

Although Naturi’s talent is shining bright like a diamond these days, as we all know, no great gain in life, comes without some great level of pain. For Naturi, that pain came when she was forced out of 3LW, for what she says was due to issues surrounding her image and her chocolate skin.

Here’s what she said in an interview with Kontrol, as she reflected on her 3LW hardships, which ultimately help land her on “Power” years later:

Naturi Naughton- “During 3LW I was told so many things, a lot of them weren’t always positive, but you know I’m a brown skin black woman. At the time there were certain fads. I use to sometimes feel inadequate or feel like I wasn’t enough. The group had a lot to do with that by telling me; my voice was too soulful, [since] I was a darker skin girl I wasn’t as popular. It was a certain image I had to dress and be a certain way in order to be acceptable.”

In a 2002 MTV interview, Naturi said her final straw was when her group members, Adrienne Bailey and Kiely Williams threw food at her: “Kiely throws her plate of food all in my face — mashed potatoes, macaroni all in my hair, down my clothes, messing up my [hair]do!, said Naturi, who refused to be “physically abused” by them.

How her pain strengthened her:

NN: “When I came out of 3LW I had been rocked to my core. I had never been so shaken up by life. … I had no money. I was broke. I was starting from the ground up. I didn’t have a deal. Time Heals All Wounds:

On a new episode of The Real, co-host, Adrienne Bailon, displayed that she not only talks the talk, but she walks the walk. After blasting Oscar-Award winner, Mo’Nique, for how she chose to handle her beefs with Tyler Perry, Lee Daniels, and Oprah Winfrey, Bailon decided to show Mo’Nique how she thinks a woman should handle it. Bailon invited her former group member/Power actress,  Naturi Naughton, onto the show to apologize to her publicly.

In the past, Naturi has publicly stated that after her 3LW group members (Bailon included) unfairly kicked her to the curb, she felt that their manager blackballed her in the industry- the same thing Bailon slammed Mo’Nique for publicly revealing in a “loud and boisterous” manner.

So with Loni Love seated in the middle of their Real conversation, a very pregnant Naughton sat down on the couch to hear what Bailon had to say. Here’s how the apology went:

“It’s crazy because when I look at you I think about my teen years,” Bailon began, speaking to Naughton. “We literally grew up together in bunk beds in New Jersey and I thank God for the time that I got to actually talk to you. We had seen each other at an Us Weekly party, years ago, and we sat down and talked everything out, and I was able to apologize to you if I ever — you know — there was a lot that went on in that time that looking back was just like, we were so young and it was crazy, and that I genuinely from the bottom of my heart never meant any harm to you, and I think you’re talented and you’re beautiful.”

Although Adrienne Bailon tap danced all around the cruel details Naturi said was done to her by Bailon and the others, her apology seemed genuine and Naturi seemed to receive it. In agreement with one another, both ladies admitted that they were “young and scared.” Naturi shared that when she was in 3LW, it was a very difficult time for her and that she didn’t think she would make it. In addition, she also mentioned the criticism that she received and that it’s important for women to love each other. Not going into great detail, Naturi implied that management caused problems for the girls.

What Really Happened? Skin Tone Bashing & Fights

Over the years, it was rumored that Bailon was allegedly incredibly rude to Naughton and was even responsible for getting the actress fired from the group. Naturi has also said in the past, that she believed colorism played a role in the way she was treated, admitting that they oftentimes made her feel as if she “wasn’t good enough” because of her beautiful darker skin tone. The group consisted of Naturi, Adrienne, and Kiely Williams. Michelle Williams- Kiely Williams mother- managed the ladies. At one point, the tension became so bad, that during an argument with Michelle, Kiely threw food on Naturi and destroyed her hair, along with her clothes.

“There was an argument between me and Michelle [Williams], and Kiely and Adrienne are cursing me out, and before I know it, Kiely throws her plate of food all in my face — mashed potatoes, macaroni all in my hair, down my clothes, messing up my [hair]do! Nobody has the right to hit me. That’s not what I’m here for, … to be physically abused. So I said, ‘Get me a flight back to Newark, New Jersey,’ and they wouldn’t even help me get a ticket,” Naughton shared with MTV News back in 2002 when the group split.

Ex- Manager Slams Naturi & Adrienne For Speaking Their Truths

Now their former 3LW manager, Michelle Williams, whose Twitter name is TSE Williams, had a lot to say about Bailon’s apology. Williams is very active on Twitter and she questioned why Bailon felt the need to apologize at all. In addition, she commented about the alleged criticism of Naturi’s skin color.
