Can we talk?!? Tevin Campbell hasn’t been very visible in the past decade, just popping up here and there. Ironically, he did an interview in 2003, with Sister 2 Sister Magazine, where he admitted to having a “Try-Sexual” attitude towards sex…and after that interview, his fans didn’t hear much from him. However, since then he’s performed on Broadway and he’s done some sporadic concert performances within the past 10 years.

One thing’s for sure though- no matter what, he can sing circles around many of these “current” R&B artists out here! His tenor voice possesses a four-octave range…how many of these youngins can hang with that? Now, as far as what Tevin had to say about being what he described as a “try-sexual,” peep that info below…

Tevin Campbell’s Thoughts On Being “Try-Sexual”:

A wise person once said ‘living in your truth is good food for the soul.’ Well, we’ll be damned if Tevin didn’t make sure his soul had the breakfast, lunch, and full course dinner, when he publicly dropped his sexual revelation on his fans. Back in 2003, Tevin’s interview with Jamie Foster Brown had everyone talking. This was “Pre-Social Media,” but the effects of the interview have been long lasting. “Try-sexual,” as Tevin explained, is the best way to describe who he is. Below is an excerpt from Sister 2 Sister Magazine:

Jaime: You don’t want them to know what your sexuality is?

Tevin: I’m not gay, but there are a lot of different things that I do like, sexually. Being in the business, you are introduced to a lot of different things. I’m not gay, but I’m a freak and I think a lot of people know what a freak is.

Jaime: I don’t. What is it?

Tevin: Basically, I’m trying a lot of things. Being open-minded. It has nothing to do with attraction. It’s just having fun and I did a lot of that on the road with dancers. We had truth or dare.

Jaime: So you’re saying it could be male or female? Whatever is happening at that time?

Tevin: Right. I am not exclusively attracted to men. I’m not gay, but sexually…

Jaime: Would you say you’re bisexual?

Tevin: No, just TRY-sexual.

Jaime: What is that? You, me and he?

Tevin: Leave that to the imagination.

When asked by SoulTrain.com if he would discuss his personal life, or if it deters him from wanting to be more open, Tevin said…

“I always say that I have to live my life for me. Everyone has to go home at night and live behind closed doors. No matter what you think you know about a celebrity and what they are doing, you truly don’t know. Everybody lives behind closed doors… As far as what I do in my personal life, if you get to know me then you’ll know. But I have friends and family that love me for who and what I am. I don’t need other people to love me for who I am, I need them to love me for my music and if they can’t do that then you’re not a fan. I divulge a lot in my album. I know the questions that people ask, so really the only way you’ll get to know me is through my music.”

SINGER, KIA JEFFRIES, DETAILS TRAGIC ASSAULT BLOW BY BLOW

Kia “Babydoll” Jeffries explains detail by detail, what exactly happened at 4:40a.m. in the morning when she unfortunately killed her husband, Ernest (pictured above) who was also the father of her son.

Kia did an interview on the VH1 reality show, “Gossip Girl,” where she described blow by tragic blow, exactly what happened on the morning she shot and killed her husband, Ernest in self defense:

“He started just punching, punching, punching me in my face, grabbing me by my hair, just throwing me. I’m screaming for my son. My son has to come and get his father off of me and as he’s grabbing me trying to hold on to me, I notice something else that’s…’Oh there’s a gun?!!’So I kept pushing it, pushing it away, trying to still [make] him let me go. […] Then one of the times I pushed it [the gun], I felt the trigger and his hand wasn’t on it and I pulled it, hoping that it would just shoot and people would come.”

BUT ERNEST WAS STILL UP, SEE WHAT KIA SAID ERNEST DID TO HER NEXT…

KIA BOLDLY DETAILED THE ASSAULT ON CAMERA…

AFTER SHOOTING HUSBAND, THE SITUATION TURNED EVEN MORE VIOLENT

In the video above, Kia said immediately after she shot Ernest, he said “B*tch you shot me!” and then he really got angry and started pistol whipping her in her head and her face. Kia thought she was about to die:

“I felt the sleep of death coming with certain blows to my head.”

COPS RULE SELF DEFENSE

When cops showed up to an Extended Stay Deluxe hotel near Duluth, GA. at 4:40a.m. in 2012, they found boxer, Ernest Mateen, critically wounded from a gun shot, but still alive and a beaten Kia Jeffries. According to Atlanta news outlet, AJC, Kia told cops her husband was beating her and they also reported that Ernest was able to confirm their altercation to cops before he died. Ernest reportedly had arrest warrants for alleged previous domestic violence charges against Kia.

HOW SHE FELT IMMEDIATELY AFTER KILLING HUSBAND

When Kia found out her husband died, she said her first thoughts were anger toward him because she didn’t understand why he had to cause such a pointless, horrific fight, which led to his death. Then she felt sad that her son had lost his father.

Kia “Babydoll” Jeffries is now rebuilding her singing career. She wanted to share her story to help others in that situation and we applaud her for being brave enough to speak on it. This is a tough situation though, because we also can’t forget that a man lost his life in the process and the person who got hurt severely was their son, whom we hope has dealt with his pain as best as he possibly can.
