FAMILY Releases Statement On Al Jarreau’s Untimely Death

As news continues to spread regarding today’s passing of jazz/R&B great Al Jarreau, his family has just released a statement and a request of his millions of fans:

JARREAU FAMILY STATEMENT

It is with the deepest of sadness to inform you Al Jarreau passed away this morning, at about 600am LA time. He was in the hospital, kept comfortable by his wife, son, and a few of his family and friends. A small, private service is planned, for immediate family only. No public service is planned yet this time.

The family asks that no flowers or gifts are sent. Instead, please consider a contribution to the @Wisconsin Foundation for School Music, a wonderful organization which supports music opportunities, teachers, and scholarships for students in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. Many of us are still trying come to terms with Al Jarreau’s death, because the last time we checked, he was ‘recovering’ from a recent stint in the hospital due to ‘exhaustion.’ His passing is especially more surprising after reading the updates the family had been providing ever since January 28th, when Jarreau had to announce he was canceling his upcoming 2017 shows for now. Breaking: Jazz/Soul Legend Al Jarreau Sadly Passes Away At 76, Details…

Sad news to report ILoveOldSchoolMusic family. Today, February, 12, 2017, we lost a great legend in the world of jazz and R&B soul music, Al Jarreau at the age of 76. He’s best known for his many hits, including “We’re In This Love Together,” “After All,” and more.

Details are still coming in as to what caused his death, but so far, here’s what we know:

Via TMZ: Al Jarreau, famed R&B and jazz singer died Sunday morning … according to his reps. The 7-time Grammy winner had been hospitalized recently. Amid his medical battle … he had announced he would be retiring. A message on his website says he passed away while in the hospital. Just last week, Al’s son said his father was singing “Moonlighting” to one of his nurses.

We’ll keep you updated as details come in. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this time. Rest well Al Jarreau after a beautiful job done here on earth.
