Salt-N-Pepa will be in effect on a TV screen near you, in 2020 to be exact. According to Rolling Stone, Lifetime network has green-lighted the project.

Executive produced by non-other than “Ms. U.N.I.T.Y.” Queen Latifah herself and her Flavor Unit Production Company.

The Salt-N-Pepa miniseries traverses the lives of Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton, as they go from nursing school students to entering the world of hip-hop and rap and their rise and successes, which includes becoming the first female rap act to go platinum. The miniseries will feature a slew of their hits, including “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “What a Man,” “Shoop” and “Push It,” among others. James and Denton will serve as executive producers alongside Jesse Collins, and Flavor Unit’s Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere.

No word if Salt-N-Pepa’s DJ Spinderella will be featured in the miniseries, but that seems quite obvious.

Salt-N-Pepa is not the only musical group to be on Lifetime next year either. A popular gospel group will receive their own Lifetime biopic.

Vivica A. Fox wasn’t having it when a reporter attempted to say she could easily play the role of Omarosa Manigault.

During a TMZ interview at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Vivica Fox was questioned about her thoughts regarding the former White House staff member. The source reports as follows:

“D**n near choked on the word ‘No’ when our camera guy told her she could play Omarosa in a movie, making it crystal clear — not a fan.”

“Everyone’s talking about Omarosa right now,” the reporter stated to Viv.’ “I’m not saying you guys [are] similar…but…you could maybe play her in a role.”

Immediately, Vivica shut that proposition ALL the way down, without hesitation:

“No, no, no, no…that’s not a role I would play…I would say that, if they do decide to make her movie, it’s definitely full of scandal. As an actress, I have no desire to play that.”

The reporter asked Fox if she thought people would try to use Omarosa’s role to make a name for themselves. According to Vivica, that completely depends on the success or failure of her book release:

“If that book sells, they may do the story of Omarosa,” she mentions. “Uhh…if it doesn’t, she’ll just have to ride off into the sunset…on a donkey. Because she connected herself to an a**. And when you lay down with dogs, you get fleas.”

Well, all witty phrases aside, Omarosa Manigault is assuredly holding leverage against the Trump administration.

According to Associated Press (AP), Omarosa says Donald Trump has been trying to bully her and keep her under his thumb. However, she states she “will not be silenced.”

“I will not be silenced,” Omarosa notes. “I will not be intimidated. I’m not going to be bullied by Donald Trump.”

Trump plans to file “an arbitration action against her alleging she’d violated a signed agreement with the campaign that prohibits her from disclosing confidential information,” AP notes.

Reportedly, she mentioned to PBS that she actually has a lot of information regarding Trump and his dealings in the White House.

“I have a significant amount, in fact, a treasure trove, of multimedia backup for everything that’s not only in ‘Unhinged,’ but everything that I assert about Donald Trump.”

As Vivica Fox stated to the reporter, Omarosa’s book is called “Unhinged.”

The source notes that a person with direct knowledge of the situation confessed as follows:

“Manigault…has made clear that she plans to continue selectively releasing the pieces of evidence if President Donald Trump and his associates continue to attack her credibility and challenge the claims in her book, ‘Unhinged.’ She’s already dribbled out audio recordings of conversations, and video clips, texts or email could follow, according to the person who described what Manigault…has called a multimedia ‘treasure trove.’ The person was not authorized to discuss the issue publicly and asked for anonymity.”

Pam Grier is finally bringing her life story to the big screen in a biopic tentatively called Pam. The iconic actress who owned the blaxploitation era in film, provided us with sexy, yet powerful images of a Black woman who took no shorts. She has already pegged Bennie Richburg to write the screenplay and at least one of the characters has been cast.

The woman who brought us “Coffy,” “Foxy Brown,” and “Jackie Brown” led a colorful life, especially when it came to her love interests. She had a passionate love affair in the 1970’s with comedian, Richard Pryor, who will be portrayed in the film by SNL alum, Jay Pharoah. She met Pharoah met while they were doing voice work for the video game Infinity Wars.

“I watched him and heard his voice and closed my eyes and said, ‘It’s Richard,'” Grier told Deadline.

The film will draw largely from her autobiography, Foxy: My Life In Three Acts, where she goes into much detail about the other men in her life including NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and actor Freddie Prinze. She also shared much more heinous encounters like the time she was raped by two boys when she was just six years old, a second rape while in college, and the time she had to enlist the help of Liza Minnelli and her husband to escape the aggressive advances of Sammy Davis Jr.

As Grier’s career took off, she credited her agent John Gaines with getting her work and protecting her from sexual predators. He accompanied her to meetings and helped her navigate the do’s-and-dont’s of the business.

“If you go to meet someone on a business deal, your lawyer, manager, agent, someone must always be with you,” Grier recalled. “John always set those rules for me and created a comfort zone. He just had seen so much, he knew. When he took me to clubs, and someone would hand me a drink, he would say: ‘Don’t drink that. See the sediment at the bottom? You drink that and you won’t remember the next week.’ I became comfortable, not accepting the invitations.”

Bobby Brown is none too pleased with the way his Bobbi Kristina biopic lawsuit just turned out. Convinced that TV One’s upcoming “Bobbi Kristina” biopic would make him look like a bad father and abusive husband, Bobby B. filed a $2 million defamation lawsuit against the network. Brown sought an injunction, which would prevent the airing of the movie scheduled for Sunday night, starring Demetria McKinney, Joy Rovaris, Vivica A. Ironically, details from Brown’s own 2016 autobiography Every Little Step hurt his efforts.

Why Bobby Lost

When rendering her decision, Judge Analisa Torres pointed out that Brown had not yet seen the movie, nor even read the script. Torres said that his allegations were nothing more than speculation and that Brown could only blame himself if events he discussed in his book turned up in the movie. She specifically cited a passage from Every Little Step where Brown describes physically abusing then-wife Whitney Houston.

“Whether Bobby Brown was a bad father is a matter of opinion,” Torres said.

The network is very happy with the decision and has solidified plans to airing the movie this weekend as scheduled.

“We are pleased with the court’s ruling and look forward to sharing this poignant look at the life of Bobbi Kristina Brown,” TV One offered in a statement.

Actress Vivica A. Fox, who portrays Whitney’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, is proud of the cast and crew, who worked on this project. She asks that fans and Bobbi Kristina’s family see the movie and watch it with an open mind.

“Bobby’s having his objections about the film being made, but we stand behind the film 100 percent,” Fox told Extra’s Tanika Ray. “And the only thing we ask of Bobby and the family is to give the film a chance.”

Vivica went on to say that they treated their portrayals of the beloved Whitney and Bobbi Kris’ with the utmost care.

“I want our fans to truly know this,” Fox continued. “We did this with absolute love and respect for the memory and legacy of Whitney Houston and the memory of Bobbi Kristina.”

Bobby Is STILL Suing & Here’s Why

Well, that’s not enough for Bobby Brown, who is still moving forward with his defamation suit against TV One. He alleges that not only does the movie about his daughter put him in a negative light, but that producers from his 2004 reality show Being Bobby Brown misused information from that show without his permission.

Brown may or may not win his lawsuit, but whatever it is that he is trying to keep from public consumption is likely to be revealed on Sunday night. Will you be watching?

Debbi Morgan has written an memoir, “The Monkey On My Back”, which was releases last year, but it wasn’t until her epic performance in Toni Braxton’s Lifetime Biopic that led us to dig a little deeper into the fantastic actress that we love with the “deep dimples”!

We’ve written about Mrs. Morgan her here a few times on ILOSM, but she was the “scene stealer” in last night’s biopic, “Unbreak My Heart”, where she played a fierce Momma Evelyn!

With so many celebrities writings books and memoirs, we’d lost touch with Debbi Morgan’s story, but as we researched further we read all about the cycle of domestic abuse that plagued her family for generations.

Morgan says her grandmother, mother and aunts all married men who abused them, plus all of her uncles “turned out to be abusive husbands, except for one.”

“Our parents are our first role models. We emulate what we see. So when I kept attracting these same kind of men into my life, I’m not consciously thinking that that’s what I’m doing,” says Morgan, detailing her own struggle with domestic violence.

Morgan says she kept being attracted to violent men, saying she saw them as protectors. “Ultimately, I would find out that they were the person that I needed to be protected from.”

Braxton, who served as a producer of the film, said, “I thought my personal sex life is off limits.”

She didn’t want to speak on her sex life as it is something that she’s very embarrassed about, and she admitted that she doesn’t get much of it. During an interview with The View in June of this year, Braxton revealed what her gynecologist told her about her vagina! “My gynecologist told me, ‘Toni, you need to start using your vagina more.'”

“I said that out loud, didn’t I?” the 47-year-old singer said, laughing. She went on to explain that men “don’t really approach me.” And when they do, “they never really follow it through.”

Fast forward to just the past week, in an interview with Tracey Edmonds, when Tracey asked if she were dating, she said, “Not really. I’m newly divorced. It takes a second to get over that. Now I’m like ‘Okay maybe I should think about dating.”

“I haven’t brought anyone home yet. I think it’s a boy thing with their mom. Like, Mom are you gonna wear that?’”

An interesting fact is that Toni said that she didn’t have much of a creative say in the film.

While it was originally reported that the famed singer would star as herself in the upcoming Lifetime project, it looks like the film will feature an actress to play Braxton’s younger self.

Newcomer Lex Scott Davis has been tapped, marking her first major film role. Previously, Davis has held minor TV roles and also played an extra in Straight Outta Compton, The Wrap reports.

Unbreak My Heart is based on the singer’s 2014 memoir of the same name, and is set to focus on Braxton’s music career as well as her struggles with divorce, her finances, and her son’s autism. Braxton will serve as the executive producer, and is still set to make an appearance in the film. Following the airing of the biopic, Lifetime will also premiere a one-hour special entitled Beyond The Headlines: Toni Braxton, featuring interviews with her family and friends.

So everyone’s seen or heard about the Aaliyah movie that aired last night…message to Lifetime; if you can’t make a biopic like the Selena, Ray, or The Five Heartbeats, then please leave it alone. The Aaliyah movie aired last night and on all accounts, it was a disaster. The family did not support the film, most of the real life characters like, Timbaland and Missy have trashed it, there was so little use of the original music, that it did not favor her musical legacy.

To add insult to injury, just at the end of the movie, when Aaliyah was killed, LifeTime decided to leave us hanging with a simple Powerpoint presentation, and rolled the credits. Missy and Timbaland had a few words for the movie, but I just can’t help but think that the casting director who casted Timbaland and Missy must have viewed pictures of them through a kaleidoscope smeared with Vaseline.

As much as a producer (in this case, TV host Wendy Williams) may want to capitalize off of a celebrity’s life story, they still have to have some sort of integrity regarding whether or not the details of the information they’re giving is accurate. I think the lack of Aaliyah’s family’s support for this Aaliyah biopic played a very vital role as to why this movie turned out to be a horrific, grueling waste of electricity and TV air time.
