If you thought Linda Fairstein was the only person attached to the “Central Park five” conviction, guess again. The lead prosecutor just resigned from Columbia Law School.

The heat is on, and it’s seemingly torching everyone who was involved with the wrongful conviction of the five men portrayed in Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us. Linda Fairstein has felt the pressure from all angles. Now, it looks to be Elizabeth Lederer‘s turn. According to NBC News, she was the lead prosecutor on the case.

Columbia Law Dean Gillian Lester addressed the school’s community in a letter explaining Lederer’s resignation and departure.

“This afternoon, Elizabeth Lederer informed me that she will not seek reappointment as a part-time lecturer,” the dean mentions. Likewise, she continues by stating Elizabeth’s parting words in the letter.

“I’ve enjoyed my years teaching at CLS, and the opportunity it has given me to interact with the many fine students who elected to take my classes,” Lederer tells the dean. “However, given the nature of the recent publicity generated by the Netflix portrayal of the Central Park case, it is best for me not to renew my teaching application.”

It’s difficult to watch Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us without getting hella emotional. It’s the story regarding an immense injustice in America, as currently seen today.

In 1989, it involved five young teens between the ages of 13 and 16:

• Yusef Salaam
• Antron McCray
• Kevin Richardson
• Raymond Santana
• and Korey Wise

They were wrongfully accused and convicted of raping a white woman who was jogging in Central Park. At the time, the media labeled the Black teens the “Central Park 5.” And the name has haunted them ever since.

“It’s dangerous in America when you’re living in a Black body,” Michael B. Jordan mentions prior to presenting the men their honored award, according to Fox News. “The whole time that these men were incarcerated, they never changed their story. They insisted of their innocence even as they did their time.”

There are some celebs who realize when they’ve lost a battle and then there’s former Central Park 5 prosecutor, Linda Fairstein, who’s doing a lackluster job trying to clean up her image. Interestingly, she’s singlehandedly managing to tarnish her rep’ even more further, now that her role in the false rape and assault prosecution of 5 minority teen males was revealed in the Netflix film, When They See Us.

Since the film’s release, the prosecutor-turned-book-author has been dropped by her book publisher, Dutton; forced to resign from the board of 4 prominent non-profit organizations; called out by millions for her seemingly heartless actions in the case…and it’s only just begun.

Instead of taking a truthful look in the mirror and admitting her wrongs, Fairstein has opted to write a lengthy rant-filled op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal. In the piece, she’s seemingly attempting to make us all unlearn what we’ve now learned about her and her questionable practices during the Central Park 5 trial.

Linda Fairstein now says that although serial rapist, Matia Reyes, confessed to raping the White female Central Park jogger- with DNA evidence to back his claim- that does not mean the now exonerated 5 Black males (Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, and Korey Wise) she falsely prosecuted are innocent of committing other crimes in the park…which they were also fully exonerated of. Laaaawd….

“Mr. Reyes’s confession, DNA match and claim that he acted alone required that the rape charges against the five be vacated. I agreed with that decision, and still do. But the other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated,” Fairstein wrote.

Linda also slammed Ava DuVernay for directing the Netflix film that put her on blast, calling her presentation of the case an “outrage.” She added, “Ms. DuVernay does not define me, and her film does not speak the truth.”

Linda Fairstein, the former lead prosecutor in the infamous Central Park Five rape case is trying to save face, now that she’s been outed in Ava Duvernay’s new Netflix film, When They See Us. As a result of the facts being brought to light regarding Fairstein’s role in having 5 male teens- 4 African Americans and 1 Puerto Rican- wrongly prosecuted, she’s catching all kinds of hell.

She has also just been forced outta her position in a nonprofit organization that she’s been a part of for 20 years. In other words, ol’ girl has just learned that karma does not have a time limit.

In 1989 Linda Fairstein headed the Manhattan D.A.’s Sex Crimes Unit, which is also when she reportedly forced false confessions from the 5 teens she wrongly had convicted in the Central Park rape and assault case of Trisha Meili. The teens served 6 to 16 years for crimes they did not commit, before being exonerated of all charges in 2003.

Fairstein is currently a successful children’s book author (which is probably about to cease as well).
For nearly 20 years, she’s also served on the board of Safe Horizon nonprofit organization -which helps predominantly Black and Hispanic victims of abuse and violent crimes- until now.

As y’all already know, in 1989 the five teens were falsely convicted for raping and assaulting a then 28 year old White female jogger, Trisha Meili, and attacking others in Manhattan, NY’s Central Park. DNA found on Meili did not match any of the 5 teens, who also revealed that police forcibly coerced them into giving false videotaped confessions. Yet, they were convicted of the crimes anyway and served between 6 to 15 years in prison.

It was only in 2001, after already imprisoned serial rapist, Matias Reyes, came forward as Meili’s rapist, that the Central Park Five were exonerated of all charges. Even still, Linda Fairstein- the former lead prosecutor- stood by her push for the teens’ wrongful prosecution.

In ’89, Fairstein reportedly sealed their forced confessions immediately, prohibiting the jury from seeing them. Fast forward to today, and Linda Fairstein is gettin’ her a$$ handed to her on a silver platter all up n’ down social media, in what has now become a movement…
