When singer, Claudette Ortiz, rose to fame with the popular R&B/Hip Hop group, City High, back in the late 90s and early 2000’s, fans were immediately captivated with her. From her beautiful voice to her bangin’ looks, fans everywhere were diggin’ her. Although City High’s reign didn’t last long, Claudette did manage to gain a newfound audience when she became a cast mate on R&B Divas L.A. in 2015. She starred on the show alongside singers, Dawn Robinson (of En Vogue), Lil’ Mo, Kelly Price, Claudette Ortiz, Chante’ Moore, and Michel’le.

Even now at the age of 36, Claudette is still turning heads because she’s just as beautiful as she was years ago. And although on R&B Divas L.A. we learned about some struggles she’s had since City High’s demise, what we didn’t learn was that there’s a woman who bears a striking resemblance to her. If you think Claudette is all dat and a bag of chips like we used to say back in the day, you’ll be surprised to see that she and her sister share that same natural beauty. Life & Struggles After City High:

When Claudette walked away from City High after the release of the group’s first album, she turned her attention to her family with the focus of raising her children, Daunte, Joel, and Bella. During a previous interview, Claudette revealed just how important family is to her.  “My children are my everything, they are wonderful kids, they are very well behaved, they love their mommy and to listen to me sing, or to see me do certain things. … Of course, they have their little moments because they’re growing and they’re people too. But they are amazing children I was blessed to be their mother,” explained Ortiz.

Claudette’s transition from fame back to regular society didn’t come without struggles though. On R&B Divas, she revealed that she had been homeless and that she was sadly raped when she was much younger. In past interviews, she also revealed that she received little financial help from one of her children’s father and although the other one (her ex-husband of 11 years and former group member, Ryan Toby) is a very good father to their two children, he, too, had struggles financially. So she did what she had to do, by working a few various jobs and today she says she’s much stronger and humbled by having experienced those things.

Back in the late 90s, City High took the world by storm. Their blowout single “What Would You Do?” peaked at the No. 3 spot on the Billboard charts, but then they took things to another level with their catchy single “Caramel.” By now, everybody knows where the line “5’5 with brown eyes” comes from. That’s right, City High made it happen. In the song, both of the guys must have been referring to Claudette’s striking features because both of them actually dated her! At first, she was involved with Robbie and that relationship was quite turbulent.

The group – which consisted of the beautiful lead Puerto Rican singer, Claudette Ortiz, Robbie Pardio, and Sister Act 2 star, Ryan Toby – unfortunately decided to part ways after the release of their debut album. Claudette even revealed the relationship with Robbie was over before they even finished the big album. But even after the group disbanded, two of the members stayed together.

For those who don’t know, Claudette and Ryan Toby married and had two beautiful sons together. Since that was way back in the early 2000s, their two children have changed quite a bit over the years. Claudette and Ryan’s babies aren’t babies anymore and it’ll probably blow your mind to see Daunte and Joel Toby now.

All Grown Up:

Daunte and Joel are practically teenagers! Of course, their handsome sons have a little bit of mom and little bit dad but many fans believe their oldest son, Daunte looks just like his father, Ryan. Check out some of the photos Claudette has shared of her beautiful babies.

Last year, Claudette also shared a clip of Daunte via Instagram and it’s quite obvious her sons are just as talented as their parents. During an interview with Urban Mecca, Claudette revealed all of her children were blessed with musical talent. “All 3 of them can sing…But they don’t have a desire to do it professionally. They just love music and they enjoy and singing and playing with instruments and dancing but they don’t want to make it a career they have different agendas I can tell already at their young age.”

In addition to her two sons, Claudette also has a daughter named Bella. During the interview, Claudette also doted on her beautiful children, revealing just how much they mean to her, reports Black Celebrity Kids. “My children are great,” said the star. “My children are my everything, they are wonderful kids, they are very well behaved, they love their mommy and to listen to me sing or to see me do certain things. They think it’s hilarious when they see me on TV. When they hear one of my songs they love to listen to it. They are very intelligent children and they’re loving and polite. Of course, they have their little moments because they’re growing and they’re people too. But they are amazing children I was blessed to be their mother,” explained Ortiz.

Going Their Separate Ways And Co-Parenting:

But luckily things are different now. When asked about Ryan during a previous interview, she revealed that they are amicable and co-parent their sons without any problems. “We are very close friends. We had both of our sons before we got married… we had a good relationship for a long time. Around 2007 it started fading out, we were changing… we’d gotten together pretty young & so we separated.”

Now, Claudette is only focused on her career and her three children.

Meet Vivian Ortiz:

Claudette’s mom, Vivian, is a banger as well at the age of 68. Mama Vivian is making 68 look like the new 38 and it doesn’t look like she’ll age much anytime soon. Back in April, Claudette took to Instagram to wish her moms a happy birthday. “Happy 68th Birthday Mami!! The most #beautiful person I’ve ever seen,” Claudette wrote. However, it was the photo of her mothers that caught everyone’s attention. It’s damn near like she’s aging in reverse and looking more like Claudette’s sister, than her mother.

Although Claudette’s always been the one in the spotlight, there have been few times when Vivian has made public appearances. In fact, she may look a lil’ familiar to many fans of the reality show Claudette was a cast member on a few years ago, R&B Divas L.A. back in 2014 when Claudette appeared on the show. At the time, Claudette revealed her plan to get back into the music industry with a new album. Unfortunately for Claudette, her mother wasn’t too thrilled about the idea. During a clip of Claudette’s reunion with her mother, Vivian worried about the possibility of her daughter failing to plan things out and have a backup plan just in case music didn’t go according to plan. “Were you planning [in the event that] this album is not as successful as you’re expecting?” Vivian asks her daughter. Vivian then goes on to tell Claudette, “You have to have a plan for your life. That is my concern. That’s always my concern.”

Claudette Reveals She Was Homeless

Shortly after things went downhill for City High, it was reported that Claudette fell on really hard times. In fact, it was even rumored that Claudette was homeless at one point. But during an interview with Centric TV, Claudette cleared the air about a lot of things.

“I was not homeless, but I did have to take the option of going to social services and being placed. In order to do that, you have to prove that you don’t have anywhere to live, so you have to stay at a shelter for a certain amount of days, and then that you were at the shelter. This [situation] was recent, right before R&B Divas: LA. Which is humiliating… I go to social services, and they don’t believe I need help. Before I was getting on track, they would send me a letter saying ‘You’re terminated,’ because my case worker might be like ‘Oh, I heard she’s doing this, so I’m going to take her off.’ I really did need the help.”

Despite Claudette’s response to the rumors, her mom’s concerns are like that of most moms. It’s all love!
