Actor, Clifton Powell (62), is one of the most talented, diverse actors of our generation, who is far too underrated in our opinion. Whether we’re talking about his dramatic roles as Ray Charles’ right hand man, Jeff Brown, in the classic film, Ray. Or whether we’re talking about his hilarious, pink suit wearing character, “Pinky,” in Next Friday and Friday After Next, Powell is the TRUTH on screen!

When he’s not working on one of the 100+ movies he’s starred in, he’s dedicated to his other important roles in REAL life- that of a devoted daddy and as a loving boyfriend. Powell has two kids- a son and daughter- with his estranged wife (or maybe ex-wife…not sure if they’re just separated or divorced), Kimberly Powell. He also has the current love of his life on his arm, who is much younger than his 61 years. The things that recently caught our attention about Powell, are the two beautiful women in his life- his daughter and his girlfriend.

We’ll first start with his beautiful daughter, just in case any of us needed a reminder of just how Old School we really are these days. Her name is May Powell and it seems like just yesterday that we saw her and her brother, Clifton Jr., walking the red carpets with their daddy, looking like this…

Now his daughter has grown all the way up. She’s a model and Clifton couldn’t be more proud of his baby girl. In a recent post he asked his fans to support May and her beautiful chocolate skin:

Now here’s the next shocker, or maybe not…depending on who you ask. Clifton Powell and his girlfriend are happily in love. Her name is Kita B. and surprisingly, she is a rapper.

It’s unclear how much younger she is in comparison to her man, “Pinky,” but it’s clear to see that it isn’t a stretch to assume she’s young enough to be his daughter. The bottom line though is that they are both in love and that’s all that matters.

A few more fun facts about Kita B. is that she loves fitness, tattoos, and her cool little son (from a previous relationship). She also loves partying with her bae’ on the regular…

And of course we can’t ignore Clifton Powell Jr., who has sprouted all the way up in height, even way past his pops these days. Like his lil’ sis,’ May, Clifton Jr. also has a great relationship with their Pops.

Some of y’all may recall the hilarious video we shared a while back of Jr. enticing his dad to do an impromptu “Pinky” impersonation for the ‘Gram. Without hesitation, Clifton Sr. turned on his “Pinky” act, as they were driving in the car and we LOVED it!

Overall, Clifton Powell Sr. is proud of his babies and loves his lady. He is also a great example of what a true father looks like and it’s cool to see the more softer side of Clifton, the man, as opposed to just Clifton Powell the legendary actor.

Clifton Powell, the actor who is best known to us Old Schoolers as “Pinky” from Friday movies and as Ray Charles’ right hand man in the film, Ray, has just spoken out again about being falsely accused of raping a woman in Louisiana in 2011.

Powell was recently asked about how he’s been holding up ever since the charges were dropped years ago and he became extremely emotional when describing how the trumped up charges had done major damage to his career.

BACKSTORY ON THE RAPE CLAIMS

For those who aren’t familiar with the rape allegations Clifton is referring to, here’s a 2012 report about the 2011 sexual encounter between Clifton and the woman:

Via TMZ (2012): Clifton Powell…has been sued by a woman using the pseudonym Kiyante Myers … who claims the actor raped her in a hotel room in August 2011. According to the suit, Myers claims she initially consented to sex with Powell … but when it turned rough, she asked him to stop … and he refused.

Instead, she claims, Powell placed his hands over her face and raped her. Myers went to cops about the incident last year … and an investigation was conducted. But cops didn’t feel there was enough evidence to prove Powell committed a crime and they closed the case against the actor.

Myers has now taken her claims to federal court in Louisiana, where she’s seeking damages in excess of $75k. A rep for Clifton tells TMZ … “Mr. Powell absolutely denies these false accusations and plans on pursuing all legal remedies available to him against his accuser.”

Clifton Powell: ‘She wanted me to give her money’

Ever since the accuser made the rape claims against Clifton Powell in 2011, he’s been very vocal about his innocence and has spoken to the media on numerous occasions about it. In a 2012 interview with Ryan Cameron, Clifton also claimed that the sex was completely consensual and the woman was angry with him afterward because he did not want to give her any money.

IN 2013

In 2013 the accuser won a emotional distress claim by default because Clifton’s attorney failed to show up to court, which by default granted the woman approximately $130,000.

IN JANUARY 2017

Clifton Powell asked the court to dismiss his 2013 default ruling because he was never served any papers to show up to court and he was under the impression, from his attorney, that everything had been handled. Keep in mind that Clifton was never tried for rape, because the investigating officers at the scene, who also interviewed the accuser and Clifton, found no sufficient evidence. Therefore, Clifton Powell was never arrested, jailed, nor tried for rape.

In his January court docs, this statement regarding why the monetary default judgement should be dismissed was also included:

‘An affidavit completed by the lead detective on the related criminal investigation, Detective D. Williams of the New Orleans Police Department.19 Detective Williams states, in part: “Through my investigation I found Ms. Kiyante Myers’ claims to be unfounded; specifically because when I asked Ms. Kiyante Myers was she forced or intimidated to commit any sexual intercourse with Mr. Powell she replied No.”

There are two things we really dig about Clifton Powell Sr.:

(1) He is one of the most versatile highly skilled and versatile actors in the game (and I personally think he’s a little underrated). Any actor who can go from playing “Pinky” to a more serious role as Ray Charles’ right hand man in the movie “Ray,” deserves his props!

(2) The brotha ALWAYS somehow finds a way to keep a gig! His resume stretches from stage plays, to TV series,’ to movies, and from villains to comedic roles. He is now on the new Bounce TV series that everyone’s been raving about, “Saints and Sinners,” so be sure to check him out on there…

He will also be in the upcoming Tupac biopic. Here is a pic of him with his co-stars on set…

He’s currently starring in the stage play, “Married But Single,” also starring Lisa Raye, Carl Payne, Derrin Henson, and others…
