That brings us to Carrey’s disdain for Donald Trump’s presidential practices and policies, which Carrey oftentimes voices. However, this time, not only is he demolishing Trump, he’s calling out the NFL and the corporations that sponsor the league too.

As we all know by now, the NFL recently announced it’s new controversial policy, which prohibits players from expressing their 1st amendment right to peacefully take a knee during the singing of the National Anthem. The league’s announcement on the new ruling, partly stated the following as the reason for it:

“Clearly our objective as a league and to all 32 clubs—which was unanimous—is we want people to be respectful at the national anthem,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at a press conference announcing the new code. “We want people to stand. That is all personnel. And make sure that they treat this moment in a respectful fashion. That is something that we think we owe.”

The kneeling ban was in response to ousted quarterback, Colin Kaepernick’s bravery in utilizing his name and platform to protest against the thousands of Black people who are continuing to be unjustly murdered by trigger happy police officers. Millions of people have defended Kaepernick’s courage, but apparently, NFL higher ups do not want that type of courage displayed in their sport.

That fact didn’t go unnoticed by many celebrities, including Jim Carrey, who has now taken to Twitter to call for push back against the Trump backed NFL ruling, by hitting the league where it hurts- their pockets. Carrey believes that instead of just boycotting the NFL, fans should put pressure on the many corporations who sponsor the NFL, to cut their business ties with the NFL League, until they lift the kneeling ban and their unspoken ban against Kaepernick. To further get his point across, Carrey, a skilled artist, drew a photo to clearly demonstrate what he meant:

Since the NFL’s kneeling ban, there have also been reports that several NFL players are planning to sit out the season until the league gives Kaepernick a fair shot at re-entering the NFL. Ever since the 2016 season- the year he took a knee- NFL owners have reportedly refused to hire him.

Overall, the NFL has now made it clear that although majority of NFL players are African American, the amount of money those Black men can earn for the league, supercedes their right to peacefully raise awareness about horrific injustices committed against of people of color.

Colin was recently awarded the ‘Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award’- which was presented to him by Beyonce at the 2017 Sports Illustrated ceremony. The award was granted to Kaepernick because of his unselfish act of sacrificing his entire NFL career as a starting quarterback, in order to stand up against injustice against Black people, by kneeling for justice and equality for his brothas and sistas.

Ever since Kaepernick began his crusade as a true warrior for equality, Sports Illustrated Magazine has stood by him. They did so in the same way they did for Muhammad Ali, when he was ousted from his boxing career, due to his refusal to enter the Vietnam War draft.

By the way, the Ali family and Sports Illustrated partner up to decide who will receive the Ali award.

Speaking of the Alis, the boxing icon’s baby girl, Laila, loves the fact that Kaepernick received the legendary award, but when asked by paparazzi, how she felt about Kaepernick being compared to her pop’s, she gave the cameraman a look that said she did not agree with the latter. Janet Fans Calling For Boycott

In case y’all missed our previous report, the NFL and Justin Timberlake have been catching hell, after Justin announced that the NFL has invited him back to perform at the 2018 Superbowl half time show.

Ever since their 2004 “Nipplegate” ‘accident’ (when Justin “accidentally” expose Janet’s pasties covered breast during their Superbowl performance), both Justin and Janet were reportedly banned from ever performing at the half time show again…until now. As of early Monday, it became clear that only one of them is apparently still banned -or shall we say, uninvited. Justin- along with the help of talk show host, Jimmy Fallon- posted his announcement on Twitter that after 13 years, he has officially been asked to return for a Superbowl half time performance:

Welp, fast forward to a few hours later and the NFL has released some official words regarding their exclusion of Janet, but not Timberlake…

Master P.’s Offer:

According to TMZ, Master P. is speaking out about the NFL controversy and the treatment Colin Kaepernick has endured. Of course, the No Limit Records CEO sees the real deal and he knows exactly why Kaepernick hasn’t set foot on an NFL field this year. When asked about the ordeal, P. offered his opinion and he also had a major offer for the talented quarterback:

“I’ll help him start his own league. I think he should, I mean he’s a great football player. I think the NFL should have some competition.”

Master P. also shared his opinion on the expression of First Amendment rights. He feels Colin Kaepernick can only be totally effective in his efforts if he’s allowed to flourish in a league of like-minded, equal opportunity thinking individuals. Check out the video below:

A Long Time Coming?

Master P.’s latest offer for Colin Kaepernick follows other celebrity opinions on alternatives to the NFL. Like Master P., Diddy also expressed interest in starting a league. The Bad Boy CEO’s statement was a response to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s statement condemning silent protests. With so many affluent, wealthy African-Americans in the United States, a show of unity could very well be the first step toward a new football league that promotes the exercise of First Amendment rights. Hopefully, the NFL controversy is the first step toward positive changes.

NFL icon, Jim Brown, has many saying “What the hell?!!” following his recent comments about ousted NFL player, Colin Kaepernick- who exercised his first amendment rights to peacefully protest the thousands of murders of African Americans at the hands of police and against other injustices in America.

Brown The Activist?

Let me first remind everyone of who Jim Brown is…or was: He’s an NFL Hall of Famer-turned actor-turned activist. Now he wholeheartedly disagrees with Kaepernick’s activism. Confused much? Understood, I was too…at first.

Brown’s Odd Message About Kaepernick’s Activism

Brown recently had this to say about Colin Kaepernick taking a knee during the singing of the National Anthem of NFL games and Kaepernick’s current difficulty now finding placement on an NFL team this year:

Via ThePostGame: “I want to be in his corner…God bless him,” Brown told ThePostGame. “I’m going to give you the real deal: I’m an American.’ … “I don’t desecrate my flag and my national anthem. I’m not gonna do anything against the flag and national anthem. I’m going to work within those situations. But this is my country, and I’ll work out the problems, but I’ll do it in an intelligent manner. If you have a cause, I think you should organize it, present it in a manner where it’s not only you standing or sitting on one knee, but a lot of people that is gonna get behind each other and do something about it,” Brown said. “If I ask you one question: Who is Colin calling on to follow what he’s talking about?”

Brown probably forgot in that moment, that when Muhammad Ali (the man Jim Brown backed) took a stand against the government during his 1967 draft refusal, he stood ALONE, without asking anyone to join him at first, because that’s what leaders oftentimes do. But there’s more…

Via ThePostGame: “Colin has to make up his mind whether he’s truly an activist or he’s a football player,” Brown said. “Football is commercial. You have owners. You have fans. And you want to honor that if you’re making that kind of money. … You have to understand there’s intelligence that’s involved, OK? I can’t be two things at once that contradict each other. If I sign for money, then the people I sign with, they have rules and regulations.”

Where’s the “rule” in the NFL handbook, that says players cannot peacefully exercise their freedom of speech as an American citizen?

Whether anyone agrees, or disagrees with Kaepernick, here’s the undeniable factor that Mr. Brown should remember: Maybe EVERY player doesn’t just “sign for money”…maybe they do it because they love it as well. Maybe they also live by a personal motto that no amount of money can buy their submission as a human being, much like what Kaepernick has displayed.

Brown’s Life Parallels His Own Advice…& “Roots”

After reading Brown’s comments, it reminded me of another interview he did recently, discussing the difference between athletes like him and Ray Lewis (who is also against Kaepernick’s fight against injustices), verses athletes like Ali, Kareem Abdul Jabar, and Kapernick. Then it all made sense:

Via Esquire: “When Kareem stood with us at the Summit, when we backed Muhammad Ali’s position on the draft, he was the youngest person there. He was going on to great stardom,” [explained Jim Brown]. “The risk he took to be there was unbelievable, because it could have killed his whole career. By standing up, you could lose endorsement deals. You could lose contracts. People were not interested in you standing up; they wanted you to play whatever sport it was they signed you to play.”

Brown continued:

“So you’ll find there’s a brotherhood of individuals. I’m a brother to Ray Lewis, a different generation. Curtis Martin. I still love Kareem and the fact he is an activist. We have great respect for each other that goes beyond the field of play. There are great athletes, and there are athletes that are great—that go beyond their greatness on the field or on the court. Those are the guys that are really like-minded individuals, who will stand up forever to try to make things better for themselves and for the people who come after them.”

Jim Brown stood with Muhammad Ali in 1967 as Ali risked his career by refusing to be drafted for the Vietnam War because it went against his social and religious beliefs. Brown’s current advice to Kaepernick runs parallel his own life, because Brown stood by Ali, only after he, himself, had just retired from the NFL. Brown also stated that he didn’t fully agree with Ali’s stance, but he did have great respect for his bravery and felt that Ali had a right as an American to stand up for what he believed in.

Some could also argue that Jim Brown’s life has a great parallel to the 70’s classic film, Roots, as well: Ali and Kaepernick vs. Brown is like “Kunte Kinte” and “Fiddler. Fiddler was the “Yessuh Massa” slave who ultimately gained great respect for Kunta’s bravery of trying to escape the plantation…even though Fiddler never found that courage for himself.

Hip hop pioneer, Kurtis Blow rapped “If I Ruled The World” back in the day, and now he’s probably wishing he actually did, because at least he’d have the ability to make it a fair, unbiased, non-racists environment with an NFL that doesn’t discriminate against peaceful non-violent messages.

On Wednesday (8-23-17), a protest rally for Colin Kaepernick was held outside the NFL’s headquarters in New York City to protest the NFL League’s blatant refusal to hire Kaepernick seemingly because of his peaceful protest against the thousands of murdered Black people at the hands of police. Thousands of people gathered of many races to stand with Kaepernick.

Kurtis Blow was among the thousands and when stopped by paparrazzi, he had a few words about the NFL and Kaepernick’s bravery. Check it out below:

“He [Colin Kaepernick] definitely is a hero, he’s a trend setter. He is very aware of what’s going around. For him to take a knee, it’s like taking a sand for his people. You gotta understand, we are being killed systematically, KILLED off by the police…I mean, just crazy. And now we have this…White supremacy…KKK, neo-Nazis, man we already fought World War II. We’re actually in a war and he realizes that. So that’s why I’m here. I’m standing in his place to say that ‘You did the right thing.’ […] Come September 7th man, it’s gotta change. NFL, come on man!”

“I think it’s all a conspiracy, the team owners are calling each other and [saying] ‘Let’s keep this guy out of the NFL because he is a problem and we don’t want more of the players doing this…kneel down thing during the National Anthem.’ … It’s ludicrous because…75% of the league are Black people and these are the ones that are making money, but they are witnessing their people getting killed off bit by bit and it’s crazy. So this is why we’re here [at the protest for Kaepernick]. This is why Colin took the knee and we’re standing up to fight, to let the NFL know ‘Come on guys, you’re making money off…this talent here, so give something back to their communities where they come from.”

Reverend Jamal Bryant also spoke out at the rally for Kaepernick and made this powerful point:

“How in the world can we call ourselves the land of the free, the home of the brave, and you get vilified and criminalized just for speaking your mind?” the Rev. Jamal Bryant said. “The NFL has proven with their treatment of Colin Kaepernick that they do not mind if black players get a concussion. They just got a problem if black players get a conscience.”

Did The NFL Owners’ Tactics Backfire On Them?

If the NFL owners thought they would use Kaepernick to instill fear in the other NFL players to never have the guts to stand up against all of the obvious racism and injustices in America, then they were 1000% WRONG.

Just ask players who now followed Kolin’s path this year- Marshawn Lynch, Malcolm Jenkins, and now the two Caucasian players who had the guts for the first time to stand with their fellow brothers, Seth DeValve (whose married to a Black woman and is the first White player to take a knee during the National Anthem) and Chris Long (the first White player to stand and put his arm around his African American teammate, Jenkins, who held his fist up during the National Anthem).

Offended America

On a recent podcast called “Offended America,” the head of his own grilling empire was highly judgmental of Colin Kaepernick for taking a knee during the National Anthem. He also took a shot at the NBA’s Kevin Durant for refusing to visit the White House as long as Trump is in office. He called the men unpatriotic and misguided.

“(Kaepernick and Durant) haven’t been brought up with people who were patriotic to even point them in the right direction,” Foreman said.

Ouch. Did he just diss their mommas? Foreman seems to believe that people died so that we could recite the anthem. Guess no one told him about that third verse. And for some reason, the boxing great thinks that passing on a trip to Capitol Hill is a move that Durant will soon regret. While Foreman didn’t support former President Richard Nixon, he hates that he missed out on a photo-op.

“Your guy doesn’t win and you figure something is wrong, I’m not going to like the guy,” Foreman continued. “I’m against him and everything but that’s all there is, sore loser. Sore loser. I was one.”

Trump Is A ‘Good President’

In spite of Trump’s failure to denounce White supremacy, his avid decision to build that wall, and his racist stance on immigration, Foreman still holds him in high regard.

“He’s a good president,” Foreman said. “A lot of people don’t like him, but evidently more do because he was elected President of the United States.”

Actually, it was the whole electoral college thing that worked in Trump’s favor. But Foreman has a personal allegiance to the man. Trump helped him get out of bankruptcy by investing in the 1991 pay-per-view fight between Foreman and Evander Holyfield. He will always be grateful to Trump for that:

“I was broke, too. Bankrupt. Put me back, he was part of writing those checks, so I could be on the wealthy side again. So I’ll always be grateful to the entrepreneur Donald Trump,” [Foreman] said. “And now President Donald Trump.”

If you’re not really into sports, you may have missed the foul, racially charged messages the NFL owners have been sending through their actions toward Kaepernick. Although some of the NFL execs have attempted to deny it, even Stevie Wonder could see the racially intimidating example their trying to make out of Colin. It seems pretty evident that Kaepernick is being discriminated against simply because he peacefully protested the thousands of unjust murders of African Americans, by some (not all) police who operate with impunity in America.

Last season (2016) it was very interesting to watch the mixed fan reactions toward Colin -who is both, White and Black- taking a knee during the singing of the “National Anthem,” in silent protest. Millions were behind his courageous stance, while others angrily responded as if he’d offended them for saying it’s wrong for a police officer to kill a fully compliant innocent Black person at will, during traffic stops.

Fast forward to now and there is a public rally down in New York on AUGUST 23rd, 2017, in protest of the NFL’s discrimination toward Kaepernick’s peaceful fight for equal rights. Spike Lee brought awareness to the NFL protest rally a few days ago and now Chuck D has some solid advice for everyone who stands with Colin Kaepernick and against discrimination.

Chuck D: Hit NFL Owners Where It Really Hurts

Chuck’s advice? Boycott the NFL- don’t attend the games, don’t watch them on television. Chuck D says that hitting the NFL owners where it hurts most -in their pockets- will be the one true way to make them play fair.

Legendary director, screenwriter, political activist, Spike Lee is doing one the most honorable things for ousted NFL player, Colin Kaepernick. On Tuesday morning, Spike announced that he has organized a rally to protest against the NFL’s blatant disrespectful injustice against Colin’s peaceful fight for equal rights of African Americans.

Colin-who is biracial (White and Black)- gained the respect of millions last NFL season when he did what NONE of his fellow NFL’ers were willing to do first, he decided to peacefully protest the persistent unjustly murders and brutality of African American men and women at the hands of trigger happy police officers. Kaepernick knew at that time that he took a knee during the singing of the national anthem was sadly a career risk, but he stated that he could not continue to send a message to young fans and the world that he was okay with the injustices in the United States. So he peacefully used his platform to do what he needed to do.

Needless to say, months later here we are. The nation has been watching Kaepernick’s incredible talent as a quarterback get consistently ignored by every NFL team with an opening for that position.  After Kaepernick was recently denied what appeared to be his last shot at getting a job this season, with the Baltimore Ravens- who instead chose quarterback Jay Cutler- social media was on fire.

Why? Partly because Cutler, who is Caucasian, has long developed a horrible reputation among the NFL and his former teammates for being a selfish jerk in the locker room and at 34, many thought he was finally gonna retire. Colin (29) is equally as talented as Jay and has developed a reputation in the locker room of being a very generous team mate and leader among players who have had nothing but great things to say about him. It’s now become evident that the NFL is apparently trying to instill fear in any other NFL players who take a stand against racial injustice in the future.

Now Spike Lee is asking everyone who will be in New York, NY on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, to stand with him for the rally to protest the NFL’s discrimination against Colin Kaepernick for standing up for equal rights in America.

The rally was organized by several organizations, including the Justice League NYC and the Empowerment Movement, but Spike is bringing a lot of awareness to a great cause with his support of it. Here’s what he tweeted:
