Did y’all know Verdine White, of Earth Wind, & Fire, had a twin sister? He and his twin sister celebrated their 69th birthday on July 25th. Although Verdine and his twin sis’ do resemble each other, it is his other sister who looks a lot like him.

As you probably already know, Verdine White is the brother of his band mate, and founder of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Maurice White, as well as the brother of EW&F member, Fred White. Their parents had a total of 10 children! That’s a whole lot of people in one house!

Wow, so, Verdine is a twin with a very talented fam.’ Much love to the Verdine White and the rest of the White fam!’ May their beloved Maurice continue to rest peacefully.

Earth, Wind and Fire, like several other artists, are NOT feeling the thieving ways of the Republican National Convention these days. After EW&F got word that their song, “September” was illegally used at the RNC without their authorization, they took to Twitter to put them on full blast!

I also guess it’s pretty safe to assume that they aren’t fans of Donald Trump’s political messages as well.

If you noticed from their tweet, EW&F were responding to rock group, Queen, who had also blasted RNC earlier this week for illegally using their music. Prior to that, Adele also blasted RNC for illegal use of her music. What the is going on with RNC’s song selections?!!

Maybe they knew that had they asked these particular artists for permission to use their songs prior to the convention, they would probably would have gotten a resounding ‘Hell no!’ from all of them. That’s just my humble assumption though. Anyways, I hope all of them get their money, and then some, for this jack move that was just pulled on ’em.

White, who was 74, suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and had retreated from the public even as the band he founded kept performing.

“My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White passed away peacefully last night in his sleep,” Verdine White, also a member of the band, told The Associated Press on Thursday. “While the world has lost another great musician and legend, our family asks that our privacy is respected as we start what will be a very difficult and life changing transition in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.”

Earth, Wind & Fire, a nine-piece band centered featuring the two White brothers, singer Philip Bailey and the distinctive horn section, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. The band’s most successful period started with the 1975 album “That’s The Way of The World” and continued through the rest of the decade. Other hits included “Serpentine Fire,” ”That’s the Way of the World” and a cover of the Beatles’ “Got to Get You Into My Life.”

“White publicly revealed he had Parkinson’s at the time of the band’s Hall of Fame induction, but he had shown symptoms of the neurological disease back in the 1980s. He stopped touring with the band in 1995 because of weariness from the road combined with his health problems.

White said in an interview with The Associated Press in 2000 that he wanted the band’s music to inspire instead of just entertain.

“That was the whole objective, to try to inspire young people to believe in themselves and to follow through on their ideas,” he said. “We’ve touched so many people with these songs.”

A former session drummer, White founded the band Salty Peppers in the Chicago area in the late 1960s and had some modest success in the Midwest. After relocating to Los Angeles and ditching all of the band members except Verdine, he renamed the outfit Earth, Wind & Fire after the three elements in his astrological chart.

Bailey’s bright falsetto defined many of Earth, Wind & Fire’s hits. “We experienced pure magic together,” Bailey said during the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, standing next to White.

The band’s early sound was jazzy, but evolved into an exuberant, horn-driven mix of jazz, funk, gospel and Big Band music. Their appeal wasn’t just on records but on stage, their concerts a whirl of dancing, fog machines, multi-colored lights and glittery costumes. Earth, Wind & Fire performed everywhere from the Super Bowl to the White House.

Maurice White also had a substantial side career producing other artists, including Barbra Streisand and Cher. In the 1970s, he co-wrote and co-produced the Emotions’ No. 1 hit “Best of My Love.”

White was born in Memphis in 1941, the son of a doctor and grandson of a New Orleans piano player. He showed musical gifts at an early age, studying at the Chicago Conservancy. During the 1960s, he backed Muddy Waters, the Impressions and others and worked as a session drummer in Chicago.

Before you start giving the side-eye to Verdine of Earth, Wind, & Fire it wasn’t him who was accused of stealing the guitar. According to court documents the company in charge of Jimi Hendrix’s estate, Experience Hendrix LLC, are claiming that the person who has the guitar doesn’t have the rights to own the legendary musician’s guitar.

Sheldon Reynolds is the ex-husband of Hendrix’s adopted sister, (Janie Hendrix), and he was a former member of Earth, Wind, and Fire, and he is the one who apparently got his hands on the guitar. How he was able to get the guitar is the question of the day, as the estate claims it was stolen. The Black Widow acoustic guitar, owned by Hendrix at the time of his death in 1970, has been valued at $750,000 to $1 million, the Arizona Daily Star reports.

“The guitar is priceless to our family,” Janie, who is CEO of Experience Hendrix, said.

“It is one of the few guitars that came home after Jimi passed away. We just want our guitar returned safely and back where it belongs.”

Harvey Moltz of Rainbow Guitars now has the guitar, and he claims he is the rightful owner as he purchased the guitar from Sheldon Reynolds. Moltz has an attorney, and his attorney claims his client bought the guitar lawfully and that he has “no interest in acquiring or retaining stolen property”. We’ll see how this all plays out and there isn’t word from Sheldon Reynolds about how he got the guitar.
