In case you’re not a soap opera watcher, you probably missed the fact that Bryton has been earning “The Young & The Restless” money for 17 years now! He plays the character, “Devon,” on the show.  Check out Bryton now at 36 years old, and get reminded of just how Old School we all are! Seems like dude was just a kid yesterday…geesh!

Talk about getting over the childhood actor hump…Bryton has completely shattered that whole kid actor stigma that so many other child actors unfortunately go through once they get older. They’re often typecast as just being a kid actor in Hollywood, making it difficult for them to find constant work as an adult. Bryton must have had a helluva team around him, because he has found a way to break that mold. This is news to many of us, who’d just assumed that the man’s career had long ago rested in peace in ‘Hollywood heaven’ so to speak.

Here are a few other facts we found out about Bryton:

He’s been acting since he was 2 years old.

He was once married to actress, Ashley Leisinger, in 2011…they later divorced in 2014.

His best friend – of several decades – is his Young and the Restless co-star, Christell Khalil– who plays “Lily Winters,” the sister of Bryton’s character, “Devon Hamilton,” on the show…

Bryton is currently in a reported 4-years-long relationship with his Young and the Restless co-star, Brytni Sarpy– who’s best known for her role as “Valerie Spencer” on the soap opera. Check out the two lovebirds below…

As far as we know, Bryton has no kids as of yet.

He often pays homage to Michael Jackson on social media, because he worked with the ‘King’ when he was younger, and ultimately got to know him pretty well.

Bryton is of mixed heritage, his mother is Caucasian…

Family Matters dominated Friday night primetime television for many years back in the ’90s. So much so, that even now, Jaleel White can’t go anywhere without somebody calling him “Steve Urkel.” But despite the success he garnered from the memorable role, there was actually another famous role he auditioned for, prior to landing the role on Family Matters. The Old School saying goes, ‘When one door closes, another one opens,” and apparently that’s exactly what happened for Jaleel.

Which Iconic Role Was Almost His?

Before he auditioned for the role of “Urkel,” he tried to launch his career on The Cosby Show. During Entertainment Weekly’s  Family Matters reunion, Jaleel White revealed, to his co-stars and EW, that he’d actually auditioned for the role of “Rudy Huxtable.” There was initially no designated gender for the role of “Rudy.” Jaleel’s agent had him pretty convinced that he’d snagged the role – until little Keisha Knight-Pulliam walked in.

Jaleel White: “In 1984, I auditioned for The Cosby Show. And that was a very emotional audition. [Then-NBC president] Brandon Tartikoff was in the room. And Mr. Cosby, obviously. They brought everybody that made the show, all the kids — they probably had us audition over the course of like five or six hours. My agent had been told that they’ve pretty much settled on [me], so I went to the audition thinking I was just going on a last audition. And then, all of a sudden, this little girl walks in…”

White’s First Heartache:

Although White nailed the audition, unfortunately, he didn’t manage to snag the role. He recalled how the producers broke the disheartening news and he explained what the experience taught him:

J.W.- “Now that I’m adult I understand — you’re never going to [present the show to the] network without options. … That was a complete lie just to get me to come back. They were flying everybody out the next day to New York to begin rehearsals to do the show. … We were planning, we were packing; my mom and dad were trying to figure it out, ’cause my dad was in dental school at the time — ‘How are we going to do this, Gail? Are you going to New York with Jaleel to shoot the show?’ And [the producers] came out after about six hours and they said to a bunch of little kids and their parents, ‘We will take you, you, you, and you.’”

Needless to say, the little boy with big dreams was absolutely crushed over losing the role of “Rudy Huxtable.” Jaleel confessed it was definitely heartbreaking for him:

J.W. – “I went home, and I just … I cried my eyes out. But I did things that a kid does when they’re hurt, and they’re acting out. My mom had to grab me and shake me. She was like, ‘If you ever react like that again to an audition, you’re done. [acting].’ She was probably more rattled that I was reacting this way.”

Although Keisha Knight-Pulliam ultimately won the hearts of producers, White went on to make a name for himself with the role of “Steve Urkel.” He revealed the role on Family Matters came at a time when he was on the verge of giving up and turning his attention toward basketball. “I continued to work, going to school constantly,” White explained. “I worked my entire youth. And then, [Family Matters] comes along, literally, probably about six months before I was absolutely dead set on quitting [acting] because I was going to the NBA.”

The Cosby Show may have been a bust for Jaleel, but it looks like both of the talented child stars turned out just fine.

Take one look at former “Family Matters” star, Jaleel White’s, social media pages and you’ll find it’s filled with photos of himself and his heart — his daughter, Samaya White. And while Jaleel has kept his love interest a secret, he’s definitely not hiding his daughter from the spotlight. There’s no mystery that he’s a devoted Pops who loves his adorably swagged-out princess…and though we’re sure Samaya can do no wrong in her pops’ eyes, on April Fools’ Day (April 1, 2022) all that nearly changed when she played a very believable joke on Jaleel…and she got him good.

Daughter Got Him Good

Samaya is a seventh grader whom Jaleel apparently set clear ground rules for, in order to ensure she doesn’t attempt to grow up too fast. For example, in a recent online post, Jaleel says he made it clear to his daughter that she is far too young for fake nails. Therefore, he was highly pissed when Samaya surprised him with a set of “video vixen acrylic nails,” as Jaleel refers to them.

Peep what happened next in Jaleel’s own own words:

Jaleel White – “So I decide to bring ice cream home as a surprise 🍨 I look down and see Ms. Seventh Grade has gotten herself a colorful array of video vixen acrylic nails 💅🏽 and we TALKED ABOUT THIS and how it was NOT allowed 🤬 I’m immediately HEATED but I stay chill. Why did you do this behind my back ? I just wanna know what made you do it? And how would you handle it if you were me and I was the daughter here? I’m super chill about it. No yelling at all.”

Jaleel says he realized somethin’ was up when he saw his daughter glance at his “gal” (whom we’re assuming is his girlfriend):

“I see her & my gal glancing at each other… these foolz have taped FAKE Acrylic nails to her fingernails just to see what I would do 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 #wellplayed #aprilfools #aprilfools1st #YouGotDaddyGood #BoltUp ⚡️ #keepyourcoolfellasalways 😏”

Thankfully, for Samaya, it was all in fun…because it sounds like Jaleel was this close to handing down a no-iphone-nor-internet punishment.

Who remember’s “Waldo” from the 90’s sitcom, “Family Matters?” Or maybe the question should be ‘How could we forget him?’ His character was so dominate, that he usually stole many of the scenes he was in. That also meant that “Steve Urkel” wasn’t the only oddball character on the show, so was “Waldo,” because every time “Waldo” spoke, he proved without a doubt that he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

Well, that was then, this is now, and it turns out that actor, Shawn Harrison, is the total opposite of his “Waldo” character. He now refers to himself as “a critic, an actor, and a “smart a$$ who speaks sarcasm fluently” (as stated on his Instagram page). Check out the man behind the “Waldo” character today though…

Shawn is now 47 years old and although he’s had some roles throughout the years, he kind of fell back away from the cameras for a while.

In more recent years, he has popped up in a few acting roles, such as Verizon Wireless commercial with New Orleans Saints player, Drew Brees. Shawn also starred in the film, “Silent But Deadly.” He also voiced the animated character, “Timber Wolfe,” in DC Comics’ “Legion Of Superheroes.”

Nowadays, Shawn still pretty much stays out of the limelight, but one thing is for certain, if he ever got an offer to get his own show reviewing all sorts of things — movies, football/basketball games, etc. — he should take it. Why? Because he critiques many things on his social media pages and doesn’t care who he offends with his honesty, which is pretty refreshing to see in this ever-so-politically-correct pool of celebs we so often see today.

He hilariously reacted to a flyer someone posted, asking “Where’s Waldo?,” which is what many have been asking throughout the years. Good thing Shawn took this all in stride though, captioning the following photo with, “Not all FM/Waldo humor makes me laugh but this one actually made me giggle. A missing persons flyer though? For real?! 😜”

Hopefully we’ll be hearing from Shawn soon. He is an incredible talent and it’s always good to see an actor from back in the day still doing well and living life.

We all remember when actor, Jaleel White, was dominating our TV screens in the 90’s. His suspenders rockin’ character, “Steve Urkel,” had a style all his own as he chased after his neighbor, “Laura Winslow” nonstop. “Urkel” cracked us up back in the day, but there was one time when Jaleel took his encounter with actor, Stoney Jackson, as no laughing matter.

If you’re from the Old School, then you probably also remember Stoney. He was one of the main dancers in Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” video. He then went on to star in the series, “White Shadow,” and in the sitcom, “227.” In addition to doing his thing in acting, he was featured in damn near every Black magazine throughout the 80’s and 90’s- “Right On,” “Tiger Beat,” “Team Beat,” you name it. Stoney’s signature jheri curl was damn near just about as famous as he is. That’s what Jaleel White also referenced when he threw shade at him online, while recalling an incident where Stoney played him. Basically, Jaleel is still salty from Stoney rough handling him as a kid. Check out what he said below.

I was age 14 at the time, maybe. In passing, he noticed me shooting baskets on a portable basketball hoop provided to me by production. Just outside our stage. He approached me casually and politely challenged me to a game of one-on-one while waiting to be called back onto stage for rehearsal. Of course I said yes and could not have been more eager. The game began ferociously, I will never forget. He blocked the shit out of my first shot attempt and wagged his head to serve notice, this would not be some casual co-workers affair. The next 11 points would mark my physical introduction to grown man strength, gratuitous N-words, elbows thrown unnecessarily and an eventual loss for me 😭 At 110 lbs, maybe, I never stood a chance. He snarled at me before returning to stage as if to say, “Little Niglet, you ain’t 💩.” Needless to say my hoop game improved with age and weight; I’d always hoped I would avenge this merciless encounter but our paths never crossed again. The moral of this story is- most performers are slightly touched individuals or batsh*t crazy. Never let a curl fool you. Proceed with caution. And even when you think, “Hey, it’s just a game,” there’s always someone out there with a #mambamentality looking to prove something at ur psychological expense #staywoke 😂 #talesfrommychildhood

Maybe now that this is public, Stoney Jackson might read this and ultimately give Jaleel White one shot to try to redeem himself.

Most of us were introduced to actor, Darius McCrary as “Eddie Winslow” on Family Matters twenty six years ago (1989), and it is hard to believe that all that time it was pretty much kept on the low that he has a very legendary soul singing aunt. Wait a minute, we take that back, his aunt does not sing, she can SANG…there’s a difference. Darius revealed who his aunt is in an interview and I think this little tidbit of info flew right over folks’ heads. If you love soul music, you probably love at least one of his aunt’s songs. Who Is His Aunt?

She’s Chaka Khan! Darius revealed this about his Aunt Chaka in a Youtube interview a few years ago:

“I’ve been singing all my life, from childhood, in church I grew up…coming from a musical family, it’s in my blood. So it’s something that I could never and would never want to escape and being raised around a lot of the greats- Chaka Khan’s my aunt, and Rick James, and of course the incredible McCrary’s, which is my family- it’s sharpened me and it’s become my love and my passion” says Darius.

Who would have ever thought that the teenage kid from “Family Matters” was the nephew of a soul legend like Chaka? Darius said that he comes from a very musical family- his dad, Howard McCrary, is a singer/musician and what’s even more surprising (well it’s only surprising if you didn’t watch “Family Matters” back in the day) is that Darius’ singing skills and musicianship are off the chain. He’s released several singles throughout the years that can put a lot of these other so-called R&B artists of today on their faces.

Who remembers when he sang a duet with Tracy Spencer on “Family Matters” for her song, “Tender Kisses”? Like to see it? Here it is…

His Random Marriage History

As if that wasn’t interesting enough, you may recall that Darius was one of the few men bold enough to actually marry ex-hip hop groupie/author, Karrine Steffans in 2009. At one point it seemed like their sudden marriage was very solid and loving, until “hurricane Karrine” started doing what she’s known to do and that is put the men in her life on public blast to the media for publicity gain.

Apparently, Karrine and Darius’ relationship fell on some tough times and Karrine had no problem making all sorts of accusations against Darius, only for him to come back and give this classic response about her…

So as you can see, Darius McCrary has led a pretty interesting life, starting with his mega talented family, to his interesting choices in soul mates, to his current passions – music and acting. The brotha’s done well for himself overall and we look forward to seeing what else he has in the works.

If we could play theme music in the background as you read this article, we’d play The O’Jays’ classic, “Backstabbers.” That 70’s joint is most befitting for what you’re about to witness former “Family Matters” and Disney actor, Orlando Brown (pictured above with his former “Family Matters” co-star, “Urkel”), do to his friend, Danny Boy. Remember Danny Boy? He was the Death Row singer who sang the hook on Tupac’s infamous 90’s hit, “I Ain’t Mad At Cha.”

Today though, singing is the farthest thing from Danny’s mind, as he deals with the betrayal of Orlando getting a classic case of sticky fingers inside his restaurant. It was was all caught on camera too.

(Video) What Had Happened Was…

What had happened was that Orlando must have woke up the other day and decided ‘Hey, today would be a good day for a burglary, let me go swing by my homie’s spot and pick up a few things.’ Which is exactly what he reportedly did when he broke into his longtime childhood friend, Danny Boy’s, new Las Vegas restaurant, Legends Restaurant & Venue.

During the burglary, Orlando was seen looking suspicious as hell, as he walked to and fro, in view of Danny Boy’s security cameras. Little did Orlando know, Danny had already received a security alert on his phone and was already watching his longtime friend, rummage through his restaurant’s kitchen like he had zero worries.

Unfortunately for Orlando, he realized the cameras were watching him a tad bit too late, when he placed a rag over them. His face was already in full view, prior to his ingenious idea. Then Orlando’s plan fell apart even more, when cops caught him red-handed on the premises.

Danny called cops as soon as he received the security alert and showed zero mercy for his friend, just as Orlando had shown to him when he busted into his place of business.

When cops arrived, they reportedly asked Orlando what he was doing on the premises, to which Orlando belted out the first lie he could think up in that moment. See details here:

Via TMZ- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Orlando was busted in Vegas after he was caught on camera changing the locks inside [Danny Boy’s] Legends Restaurant & Venue. … We’re told Orlando’s presence triggered a security alarm and alert on Danny’s phone. He called the cops … who say they found Orlando on the roof, claiming he was there with permission to change the locks. Danny shot that down … and Orlando was arrested.

Orlando Brown is homeless?
Danny Boy also revealed that Orlando is currently homeless, so he was helping him out:

Danny tells us Orlando was released from a hospital 2 weeks ago and needed a place to sleep, so he invited him to stay in the restaurant. He says Orlando appeared to be in a haze Sunday, and accused Danny of stealing money from him. Danny says pressing charges seemed like the best way for Orlando to get the help he needs. – via TMZ

It was also reported that this latest arrest makes matters worse for Orlando. His bonds for two pending cases have been revoked and he’s currently still sitting in jail with a bail set at $13,000.00

Sometimes tough love is the only type of love we can offer our troubled loved ones. Based on Orlando’s latest string of arrests and ever-increasing amount of mugshots, he needs all the tough love and possibly drug and/or mental help he can get. Hopefully, he’ll get the necessary help.

Ever since the 30 year old former child star has been outta the Hollywood limelight for the past few years, he seems to have fallen victim to the ‘ex-kid actor syndrome.’ You know, the kind that is oftentimes difficult for ex-kid stars to escape, due to various circumstances- some within their control, some outside of it. Anywho, fast forward to today and video has surfaced of Orlando violently being taken down by bounty hunters in his underwear…

It was a very hostile situation and Orlando was captured as he apparently tried to hide in a friend’s home. Check out the video and the details below:

Via TMZ: We’re told the crazy video footage — obtained by TMZ — is from a raid by Lucky the Bounty Hunter in Las Vegas around 6:30 AM Friday. It starts with Lucky and his team trying to enter, but getting pushback from the homeowner, who claims they have no legal right. Lucky tells us he had legal paperwork and warrants so they were allowed to enter the home and look for Orlando … so they made it happen by force. After an intense search, they found Brown hiding in a bedroom closet in a t-shirt and boxers and made the arrest. […]

The owner of the Vegas home tells us he was letting Brown stay there as a favor for a music producer neighbor, but he got concerned about harboring Brown when his fiancee showed up Thursday night … saying he was a fugitive.

The home owner is reportedly also pissed off because although he harbored a fugitive, he says the bounty hunters entered his home illegally, damaged his door, and injured his shoulder during the fiasco. He also says he will definitely be contacting authorities over this one.

Why Bounty Hunters Were After Orlando

Orlando reportedly had a warrant for his arrest due to skipping his March 2018 court date for the January 2018 assault charge he caught for allegedly hitting his girlfriend. Oh, you didn’t hear about that one? Well, that was yet another hostile incident involving the “Family Matters” kid.

As we previously reported, Orlando was arrested, along with his girlfriend’s mother, on January 18, 2018, for a heated altercation reportedly involving his girlfriend and his mother. The alleged incident went down at his apartment in Barstow, California, according to a police report obtained by People. The dispute happened around 8 a.m. and when the cops arrived, they took Orlando into custody for unrelated reasons:

Via People: When officers conducted a warrants check on all the individuals, they found an active arrest warrant for Brown from the Torrance Police Department stemming from charges in 2016 including an alleged battery charge, resisting a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance. Brown was booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for those charges. His bail was set at $25,000.

During the time of his January arrest, another thing that caught our attention, was that Orlando actually looked like he was happy as hell to be in jail, based on the way he was cheesin’ it up for the camera that new mugshot…

By the way, in case you’re wondering why his girlfriend’s mother was also arrested at the same time as he was in January, here’s why: When cops arrived to Orlando’s apartment and ran a search on his girlfriend and her mother, Tanya Henson, they found that Ms. Henson had an outstanding warrant as well. Therefore, she too, was dragged right on down to the San Bernardino police station along with her daughter’s man, Orlando.

Laaaawd….hopefully Orlando, his girlfriend and her moms can all make some forward progression in every level of their lives soon.

Throughout the 90’s, Family Matters dominated Friday nights on ABC. The show was filled with fond memories that most fans will probably never forget. Of course, most Family Matters fans remember “Steve Urkel’s” fascination with “Laura Winslow” and how his special bond with the ‘Winslow family’ was one of the most memorable dynamics of the show. But most will probably agree that his relationship with the beautiful “Myra Monkhouse” – portrayed by actress, Michelle Thomas -was just as special.

Although it seemed like “Urkel” and “Myra” were two peas in a pod who’d live happily ever after, sadly, life didn’t pan out the way most would have expected for the beloved Michelle Thomas. In 1998, Michelle passed away shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. To this day, her death is still unbelievable to lots of fans, and apparently, it still hits home for Jaleel White.

Jaleel Moved To Tear Over Deceased Co-Star, Michelle Thomas:

Jaleel appeared on the show, Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry. If you haven’t seen the show, it captures moments where Henry showcases his alleged psychic capabilities. On the show, Jaleel sat down for a reading with Tyler Henry. What was touching was not so much that Henry supposedly cosmically connected with Michelle in the afterlife, it was because of the evident connection and pain Jaleel still feels to this day, after losing his beautiful friend/co-worker, Michelle Thomas. So much so that Jaleel was brought to tears…

“I’m looking at what looks like E and then L-L-E is the only way to describe it,” Tyler shared. “You got to be messing with me, dog. Come on, man. You’ve got to be Googling this stuff before you come in here.” Jaleel said dumbfounded.

“Who is that?” Tyler questioned. “September birthday, sudden passing, E-L-L-E…No Google?”

But Jaleel wouldn’t give in. He assumed Henry had done research to know a bit more about him, so he’d know what to say. Then the 21-year-old psychic claimed that he didn’t even know who Jaleel White a.k.a. “Urkel” is…even though the basis of his show is centered around featuring well known celebs:

“This is embarrassing, I don’t even recognize you,” Tyler stated to Jaleel.

Jaleel seemed to then believe Henry, based on what happened next:

“Don’t worry about that part. We’ll talk about that part later. It gives me joy that you don’t know who I am.” Then Jaleel broke down. “You’re talking about Michelle Thomas. She was my old co-star from Family Matters and she died from stomach cancer quickly. She had a lot of friends in the music industry.” he explained.

Still baffled, Jaleel went on to share more details about Michelle. “Come on, man. You’ve got to be Googling stuff. This is crazy. Her birthday is September 23, 1968,” Jaleel revealed.

I must admit that I understand Jaleel’s Googling suspicions about psychic medium, Tyler Henry. In my opinion, Google appears to be Henry’s best friend, because everything he told Jaleel about Michelle is easily verifiable on Google…but I digress. Point is! Jaleel sincerely misses Michelle Thomas, which is evident in his emotional video, check it out below…

Michelle Thomas’ Untimely Passing:

In August of 1997, Michelle Thomas’ life was forever changed when she was diagnosed with intra-abdominal desmoplastic small-round-cell tumor, a rare form of stomach cancer.

In the spring of 1998, she underwent surgery to have the lemon-sized tumor removed shortly before she landed a role on The Young and The Restless. In October of that year, she underwent a second surgery to have another growth removed. She flew home to spend Thanksgiving with family, but unfortunately, that was her last holiday alive. On December 22, 1998, she passed away, surrounded by friends and family in New York City, including her then long-time boyfriend/Cosby Show actor, Malcolm Jamal Warner (“Theo”). She was just 30 years old.

May Michelle Thomas continue to rest peacefully. Gone way too soon, but never forgotten.

Family Matters Reboot?

White also set the record straight about a rumored reboot on Netflix, and pointed out that the Entertainment Weekly shoot wasn’t a paid gig. “It was done for YOU, the fans & to satisfy our own need to come together as a family.”

“Reunions of any kind can be tricky affairs mainly due to scheduling. Several members of the #FamilyMatterscast no longer reside in the state of California and they traveled quite a ways to share this one special day. And special it was! Darius is a fool (lol) Bryton (Not So Little Richie) is more mature than all of us now, Shawn and Kellie, you still have jokes…😝 No one was paid for our @entertainmentweekly gathering. It was done for YOU, the fans & to satisfy our own need to come together as a family. And to set the record straight, no one from #Netflix has ever contacted any of us to express an interest in doing a reboot. No hard feelings at all but that’s the God’s honest truth and life moves on with more blessings to come. But no reunion would be complete without me acknowledging our beloved Michelle Thomas 🙏🏽 This little ray of sunshine gave me some of the best physical comedy moments I’ll ever play on screen.
