His family released a heartfelt statement confirming his passing and reflecting on the life of the man they dearly loved.

“Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.

A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world, He was deeply respected — a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name— for his family.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.”

George Foreman rose to prominence in the boxing world after winning a gold medal in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Known for his incredible power and imposing presence in the ring, he went on to become a two-time world heavyweight champion, earning his first title in 1973 by defeating Joe Frazier in a stunning second-round knockout.

After retiring in 1977 and becoming an ordained minister, Foreman made a stunning comeback in the ring in the late ’80s, eventually regaining the heavyweight title in 1994 at the age of 45 — making him the oldest fighter ever to win the championship, a record that still stands today.

Outside the ring, Foreman’s impact was just as powerful. He became a beloved public figure through his motivational preaching, countless humanitarian efforts, and as the face of the wildly popular George Foreman Grill, which became a staple in households worldwide.

Boxing icon, George Foreman, is ready for another fight…except this one will be a legal battle against two women he says are attempting to extort him with lies and concocted claims from 40 years ago.

According to TMZ Sports, “a lawsuit against Foreman is expected to be filed in L.A. this week by two women whose fathers apparently had a friendship and working relationship with Foreman decades ago. The suit…is expected to allege that Foreman sexually abused the women in the 1970s.”

However, Foreman released a statement Wednesday (7/12/22), adamantly denying the women’s apparent upcoming claims. Here’s what he had to say:

George Forman – “Over the past six months, two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family. They are falsely claiming that I sexually abused them over 45 years ago in the 1970s.”

Foreman continued:

G.F. – “I adamantly and categorically deny these allegations. The pride I take in my reputation means as much to me as my sports accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies.”

It’s also being reported that Foreman and his team say the upcoming claims are “a coordinated extortion plot” by two women who have been asking Foreman to pay them $12.5 million EACH, ever since January of this year (2022).

For the record, Foreman’s current net worth is reportedly $300 million. But he clearly is not trying to dish out approximately $24M’s over what he says are straight up bogus claims against him. That was evident in the following statement, where Foreman pretty much vows to fight this upcoming legal battle with everything in him:

G.F. – “I am, and always will be, guided by my faith and trust in God. I will work with my lawyers to fully and truthfully expose my accusers’ scheme and defend myself in court. I don’t pick fights, but I don’t run away from them either.”

So, in other words: Don’t start nothin’…won’t be nothin’, is basically what the boxing OG seems to be saying.

We all know George Foreman as the heavyweight boxing icon who released his infamous George Foreman Grill some years ago. We also know that he made some money from the grill, which you can get for as cheap as approximately 30 bucks, but what many of us may not know is that Foreman didn’t just make some money for endorsing the product…he made a killing off of it…and not just the average celebrity endorsement check. Why? Because it wasn’t an endorsement at all. In an interview with In Depth, Foreman explained how he went from being the ‘It celeb’ for endorsement deals, to being tossed to the side after a period of time, by major brands. Left without many options, his friend came up with an idea:

Foreman: “I’d gotten really popular on Madison Avenue. We’d done Doritos, McDonald’s, Meineke…every commercial there was. People pay you a lot of money. People pay you a lot of money to do a commercial, but then after a period of time, they move on to someone else. And finally a friend of mine [Henry Holmes] said, ‘George you’re making all of these other companies money, why don’t you get your own product.’ I said ‘Sure, how much you gon’ pay me?’ He said ‘No, no, no, no, no, we’re not gon’ pay you. Get your own product.'”

George explained that when they came across a random prototype of what would eventually become the Forman Grill, no one else in the industry wanted anything to do with it, assuming it was a bogus product. George agreed…in the beginning and almost passed up the opportunity.

Foreman admitted that although he thought the grill worked wonderfully, his only high hopes for it were to get them into his training camps, thinking that it would be a huge success there.

Foreman: “I never expected it to be so successful. I got a check once for like, $1500 and I said ‘WHAT?!!’ Couldn’t believe it! Then I get another check for $15,000! And then all of a sudden the checks just started rolling in. … This thing sold over 100 MILLION!”

Foreman also revealed that at one point the checks were coming in at $5MILLION monthly.

He eventually sold the Foreman Grill brand for $140 million, in addition to the many millions he’d already earned from his product.

If It Wasn’t For His Wife, There Would Be No Foreman Grill

Like the saying goes: ‘Beside every great man, is a great woman.’ That rang true for Foreman, because although he’d taken a prototype of the grill home to ponder the idea, he admitted that he didn’t even want to use the thing because he didn’t think it would work, let alone sell. However, his lovely wife, Mary, soon convinced him that the grill was the TRUTH:

Foreman: “I didn’t want to use it, but my wife insisted. She said ‘It works George.’ And the grease really rolled of and it’s [the meat] still tender and I said ‘Boy! Let’s do it!!'”

Foreman then tested sixteen more of the grills on his family and they loved it.  That’s when Foreman and his business partner, Holmes, put the grill on the market and the money started rolling in.

Wow! Who knew?!! I betcha George Foreman will forever be grateful to his wife, Mary, for pushing him to try the grill, because clearly, his first intuition about it was WRONG! Props to Foreman for keeping an open mind to the idea.

Two days ago, we reported that Freeda George Foreman, 42, was found dead Saturday in her Houston-area home.

Her father, 70, was an Olympic gold medal-winning boxer who went on to a successful professional career that included bouts against Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Ken Norton.

Body Found

Freeda Foreman’s body was found in her home near Houston, Texas by a family member. As of Sunday the authorities were awaiting a report from the coroner’s office on the cause of death, today, we have found out that she committed suicide.

Death By Hanging

The Harris County Coroner’s Office just listed Foreman’s death as “asphyxia by hanging.”

George Foreman’s daughter, Freeda Foreman, died of an apparent suicide — and based on the evidence surrounding her demise … it appears she hanged herself.

According to TMZ, a spokesperson for the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office in Texas said there was  early indications are that Freeda’s cause of death was an apparent suicide.

A final determination on the cause of death will be made by a coroner, but law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation tell us that Freeda appears to have died by asphyxiation. Seeing how no foul play is suspected, all signs point to a hanging.

Freeda is survived by her husband, two daughters, 3 grandchildren and 11 siblings.

Tragedy has struck the family of popular retired boxer George Foreman, according to reports.

Freeda George Foreman, the 42-year-old daughter of the former heavyweight champion, was found dead Saturday in her Houston-area home.

Her father, 70, was an Olympic gold medal-winning boxer who went on to a successful professional career that included bouts against Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Ken Norton.

Law enforcement sources tell us … Freeda’s body was found in her home near Houston, Texas by a family member. Cops are awaiting a report from the coroner’s office on the cause of death, but we’re told no foul play is suspected.

Freeda began boxing professionally as a middleweight in 2000 and won her first 5 fights before losing her sixth bout in 2001. She retired after the loss with a pro record of 5-1 with 3 KOs to focus on being a mother and other projects, including boxing promotion.

Her parents also didn’t enjoy her being in the ring … so George reportedly paid her to quit.

She’s survived by her husband, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, her parents and 11 siblings.

Since his retirement he has become an equally successful entertainer, TV pitchman and marketer of products, such as his George Foreman-brand grills.

George Foreman’s Prior Statements That Caused An Uproar

On Kaepernick and Durant being “unpatriotic”: “(Kaepernick and Durant) haven’t been brought up with people who were patriotic to even point them in the right direction,” Foreman said.

Foreman also compared Durant’s refusing to visit the White House this year, to his younger “ignorant” self, when he refused to visit the White House back in the day, when Richard Nixon was president. Foreman said that he later regretted that decision, because he missed out on a photo op’ with Nixon, even though he was against what Nixon represented. He now thinks that Durant will soon regret his White House skip with Trump for the same reason- a photo op.’ Foreman also called Kaepernick and Durant “sore losers”:

“Your guy doesn’t win and you figure something is wrong, I’m not going to like the guy,” Foreman continued. “I’m against him and everything but that’s all there is, sore loser. Sore loser. I was one.”

As far as Trump, Foreman had this to say: “He’s a good president,” Foreman said. “A lot of people don’t like him, but evidently more do because he was elected President of the United States.” […] “I was broke, too. Bankrupt. Put me back, [Trump] was part of writing those checks, so I could be on the wealthy side again. So I’ll always be grateful to the entrepreneur Donald Trump,” [Foreman] said. “And now President Donald Trump.”

Offended America

On a recent podcast called “Offended America,” the head of his own grilling empire was highly judgmental of Colin Kaepernick for taking a knee during the National Anthem. He also took a shot at the NBA’s Kevin Durant for refusing to visit the White House as long as Trump is in office. He called the men unpatriotic and misguided.

Ouch. Did he just diss their mommas? Foreman seems to believe that people died so that we could recite the anthem. Guess no one told him about that third verse. And for some reason, the boxing great thinks that passing on a trip to Capitol Hill is a move that Durant will soon regret. While Foreman didn’t support former President Richard Nixon, he hates that he missed out on a photo-op.

Trump Is A ‘Good President’

In spite of Trump’s failure to denounce White supremacy, his avid decision to build that wall, and his racist stance on immigration, Foreman still holds him in high regard.

“He’s a good president,” Foreman said. “A lot of people don’t like him, but evidently more do because he was elected President of the United States.”

Actually, it was the whole electoral college thing that worked in Trump’s favor. But Foreman has a personal allegiance to the man. Trump helped him get out of bankruptcy by investing in the 1991 pay-per-view fight between Foreman and Evander Holyfield. He will always be grateful to Trump for that:

“I was broke, too. Bankrupt. Put me back, he was part of writing those checks, so I could be on the wealthy side again. So I’ll always be grateful to the entrepreneur Donald Trump,” [Foreman] said. “And now President Donald Trump.”
