So why was it that while music lovers everywhere were feelin’ these legends’ music, they weren’t seeing eye to eye with each other about it? At least according to Freddie’s side of the story they weren’t.

Freddie did an interview with LATimes back in the day (long before Michael’s passing), for their article titled, ‘Freddie Jackson Won’t Sell His Soul For A Pop Hit.’ That’s when the “Rock With Me Tonight” crooner made it no secret that he had a major issue with the “Careless Whisper” singer.

Simply put, Freddie called out the Caucasian singer with the English accent, for pretty much doing the cultural appropriation thing. He voiced his dislike for George’s incorporation of the Black R&B sound into his pop artistry. Jackson pointed out the all too often reality, that a White singer, like George Michael, could actually dominate the music scene, simply by doing what many Black artists were already doing- yet selling far less records than their White counterparts. “That . . . that George Michael,” soul singer Freddie Jackson groused. “Who does he think he is? We’ve gotta stop him.” Realizing his statement might have sounded too harsh, he diplomatically backtracked: “Just kidding, George, wherever you are–just kidding. He’s doing better on the Black charts than the black singers. […] What gives? The brothers must not be doing something right if he can come in and take over.”

When we fast forward to today, many talented White artists, who possess Black culture-inspired sounds, are still dominating the music game- i.e. Adele, Sam Smith, Justin Timberlake, etc.. Although some may argue that the color of one’s skin should not make a difference when in music. Unfortunately, one thing that can’t be overlooked, is that when record sales, digital spins, and bank statements are compared between most Black R&B singers, versus their counterparts, there’s no denying that fans clearly see color.

Freddie does not lack talent by far. However, he simply will never see the 20 million records sold/digital spins on just one album alone, as his then rival, George Michael, was able to rack up- not just for his talent, but for his “marketability” (a cool word the music industry oftentimes uses to say ‘skin tone’).

Jackson’s words may have been harsh, but they’re still a real assessment of what has been proven within the music business. Hopefully one day we’ll see a more fair and balanced music industry, only time will tell.

On Christmas Day, fans all across the world mourned the shocking death of George Michael. Almost immediately after his death made headlines, there was speculation about whether or not there was foul play involved.

In fact, the singer’s funeral has been delayed all this time, due to a pending investigation launched by local London authorities, in which his boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, was also questioned twice. However, the most recent reports have confirmed foul play was NOT a factor in George Michael’s untimely death. Thank goodness, because for a minute, it was not looking good for Fadi, glad to see that the dude George Michael loved dearly didn’t cause any harm to him…

Cause of Death Revealed:

According to BBC News, George Michael died of natural causes due to heart and liver disease. On Tuesday (Mar. 7, 2017) the coroner released a statement in reference to George Michael’s death and the detailed report further explained the findings that led to his cause of death.

“Inquiries into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post-mortem report received,” the coroner’s statement read. “As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries. No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy.”

Long-Lasting Legacy:

At the time of his death, George Michael has sold a whopping 115 million records worldwide! The British singer has gone down in history as one of the best-selling artists of all-time. Throughout his 30-year music career, he’s stacked up several awards for his creative work, including Best British Male twice, four MTV Video Music Awards, four Ivor Novello Awards, three American Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards from eight nominations.

Michael’s longtime boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, who has been under suspicion and under investigation ever since Michael’s death is the person who placed the call. His calmness during the call and the length of time he told dispatchers he was trying to awake Michael (one hour) as he lay in bed unresponsive before dialing 999 (England’s version of 911), has some fans concerned. Here are the details via TMZ:

Boyfriend: “He’s Dead And In Bed”

TMZ: George Michael’s boyfriend calmly called 911 on Christmas Day and informed the dispatcher, “I’ve been trying to wake him up for the last hour but it’s not possible. He’s gone.”Fadi Fawaz discovered Michael’s body in bed and told dispatchers the singer was “cold and he’s blue … and he’s very stiff.” Fawaz sounds distressed but held it together. He was under a cloud of suspicion after he reportedly said he had spent Xmas Eve sleeping in his car and not at George’s home. After the first autopsy proved inconclusive, cops interviewed Fawaz for hours but cleared him of any wrongdoing. He still has not been buried as authorities continue to investigate cause of death.

Andros Georgiou — who referred to himself as the singer’s cousin — questioned Fawaz’s motives after he tweeted that he spent 24 hours a day with the former WHAM! frontman. “He was never with [GEORGE] 24 hours a day they never lived together… And even if they were, WHY were they not together on Christmas Eve ? and WHY did he sleep in the car ?” Georgiou questioned.

Fawaz has stated that on Christmas Eve, he slept in his car, but the reason for that is still unknown apparently.

Hopefully the investigation into Michael’s passing is coming to a conclusive end soon, so that he can finally be laid in his final resting place peacefully. Rest on George Michael…gone but never forgotten.

As we previously reported, George Michael’s longtime boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, has become one of the focal points of the investigation, as law officials work to ensure there was no foul play involved. Fadi Fawaz was the first to find George deceased inside of his London home, and he has adamantly denied that he had anything to do with his passing.

Now Fadi’s nephew, Josh Fawaz (pictured above with Fadi), has spoken out in defense of his uncle, after it was revealed that he was the person Fadi called immediately after finding George unresponsive and dialing 911.

FADI’S NEPHEW: ‘THIS SUSPICION OF MY UNCLE IS “BULLS**T”‘

It’s also been reported that Fadi’s phone call to his nephew will now be added to the investigation. Here’s what TheMirror reported:

Josh Fawaz – Fadi’s nephew and trusted confidante – has given his first interview where he says the suspicion surrounding Fadi is “bulls**t”.

The Australia Daily Telegraph reports that when Fadi first saw an unresponsive George laying in bed on Christmas Day, he tried to revive him. When that failed, fine art photographer Fadi called police and then called 28-year-old Josh, sobbing down the phone to him…

“I’ve never heard a grown man cry so much. Fadi called me saying ‘what am I going to do without him?’,” Josh told the newspaper.”They spent almost every day together for six years. He was so upset, he had been crying at the house beside George and I believe he found him dead. Fadi has had the finger pointed at him but it’s all bull***t. There was nothing but love in that relationship; he has been called a leech and all sorts, but he never took advantage or would do anything to hurt George.”

“They were very much together and in love. Two days prior to George’s death I was in the pub in London with my uncle and he called him to say he’ll be home soon. They were living together, they hadn’t split,” he went on. “I’m worried about his mental state, to be honest. I don’t know how he’ll cope without George.”

According to MailOnline, Fadi is preparing to be interviewed for a second time by law officials investigating George Michael’s death. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Fadi did any wrongdoing. It could simply be that the law officials overseeing the investigation want are being very thorough before drawing their conclusion as to what exactly claimed George’s life.
