Ginuwine’s “Pony” ain’t ‘ponying’ no more…at least according to many fans who are goin’ to town roasting the 51-year-old singer on social media.

It all started with a recent performance of Ginuwine in concert that went viral on Tik Tok and Instagram. In the video shared by Ballert Alert, apparently, Ginuwine was performing his hit, “Pony” when he attempted to deliver a modified version of the dance steps he was known for back in ’96. It didn’t necessarily go over so well with many on social media, who have been clownin’ the R&B crooner over it ever since.

The video clip shows a throwback vs. current display of Ginuwine gettin’ his dance-on to his song. His dance moves are noticeably different. In the ’90s version of “Pony,” Ginuwine is gyrating and dancing enthusiastically. However, in the recent version of his performance of the same song, he delivered a very modified rendition as far as dance moves go, leaving way for all sorts of shade-filled comments to be thrown his way. Even several celebs got in on the mix, but it was all in good fun…at Ginuwine’s expense.

The guilty feeling on our part is that now that we’ve viewed the video and read the comments, we can’t unsee what many have now pointed out — that Ginuwine’s 2022 style “Pony” moves are givin’ geriatric vibes in comparison to his ’90s moves…and understandably so.

As y’all can see, people are having a blast with Ginuwine’s latest viral video moment, as they should. To Ginuwine’s credit though: the man still sounds just as good as he did back in the day…and as far as looks go, c’mon now, he can damn sure give many –his peers and youngins alike — a run for their money, just sayin.’  However, when it comes to his 2022 “Pony” dance routine…it may be time to part ways with the old…and maybe try something new.

But what many may not know are the heart wrenching turn of events that led to his past suicidal tendencies, heavy drinking, pill popping, and how it affected his relationship with now ex-wife/mother of some of his kids, former rapper Sole. Ginuwine On Attempting Suicide After Losing Both Parents In Under A Year

“When I was trying to do that [attempt suicide], I was going through things because my father shot himself in the head [in 1999]. And the next year my mom had died from [uterine] cancer [in 2000]. So really, I think anybody that has gone through that understands where you just don’t want to be here no more because it hurts too bad. It’s not that you’re mad, you’re hurting. And no one knows that kind of hurt unless you go through it. That’s not a hurt like you fall and hurt yourself or break your leg or, like, a breakup. That’s your mom and dad. And then the way it happened. It was unbearable pain. Like, my father shot himself in the head. I didn’t see it coming. I knew he was going through a little depression, but just like anybody, if you’re sad, you don’t think they’re going to kill themselves. He did that in ’99.” -via Sister2SisterMagazine

Ginuwine On How Then-Wife, Sole’, Saved His Life…But Left Him Early On

“I was trying to overdose with Ecstasy at one point. I was drinking. [Sole] actually threw a lot of my drugs away. She actually saved me one time. That was one of the times I was like, ‘This is going to be it.’ I bought some cognac and I bought a lot of Ecstasy and I was just going to do it. She [Sole] flushed all my [ecstasy] pills down the toilet. She left me a note, but she had left, though.” -via S2S

It seems like Sole was tired of watching Ginuwine do that to himself, but they eventually married.

Ginuwine Admits Seeing Psychiatrist For Depression While High

“I was done mentally and emotionally to the point that I had to go see a psychiatrist, but that didn’t do any good because I wasn’t interested. In fact, the two times I visited him I was high. I was depressed and felt like I had nobody to talk to that could relate to me.” -via Essence Magazine

On How He Started To Recover From Depression & Suicidal Thoughts

“The beginning process of me getting out of that [suicidal phase] was when I had my daughter, Story. Although Ginuwine has fortunately moved past his suicidal tendencies these days, we wanted to share what he went through because it’s another reminder of what we always say- Entertainers have made great accomplishments, but that doesn’t make them perfect people…it simply makes them perfectly flawed and/or scarred human beings, just like the rest of us. In case you didn’t catch the big news, Sole’ (47) shocked the hell outta many when she jumped the broom with the new love of her life, Public Enemy’s Professor Griff (60). After getting a divorce from Ginuwine (50) in 2015 and starting a romantic relationship with Griff just last year on August 11th, 2016 (according to Sole’), her love life moved pretty quickly. However, Sole’s new marriage is just like Atlantic Starr sang back in the day, “when love calls you better answer.”

Now, back to Ginuwine’s thoughts on the mother of two of his five children marrying another celebrity. Clearly though, Griff and Sole’ were in touch throughout the years, including the time Sole’ and Ginuwine were happily married. Matter of fact, there’s an online photo circulating of the three of them chillin’ at the 2009 Soul Train Music Awards.

Fast forward to today and it’s a beautiful thing to see pretty much the same level of happiness on all three of their faces, with two men respecting each other and the Queen they both love (in different ways) by managing their new family ties accordingly. A round of applause for Ginuwine and the new Mr. & Mrs. Professor Griff for taking the high road.

It’s “Pony” singer and TGT member, Ginuwine! Make some noise if you got this one right! The afro may have thrown some folks off, but his face still has some of the same characteristics.

We told you it was a singer who a lot of you ladies lose it over.

By spring of 2014, Ginuwine’s then-wife of 12 years – rapper, Sole’- filed for divorce.  As if that wasn’t bad enough, Ginuwine unfortunately had to file bankruptcy in November of 2014. On July 22, 2015 Ginuwine’s opening lyrics to his ’90s hit, “Pony,” where he sings “I’m just a bachelor, I’m looking for a partner, someone who knows how to ride, without even falling off,” became a reality…because the judge signed off on Ginuwine and Sole’s divorce papers and the seal on his marriage officially fell off of that ride. Then Sole’ married Public Enemy’s, Professor Griff, in 2017.

And of course we can’t forget about the infamous blow up on social media, that was sparked when Tyrese posted a public and lengthy announcement to his fans on Instagram, subtly implying that Ginuwine was the cause for the TGT breakup. Ginuwine blasted back on IG and said that he would tell folks the real deal about how Tyrese was a acting like a “diva” behind the scenes, if Tyrese didn’t stop trying to make fans think it was the other way around.

There’s nothing like a beautiful Father-daughter story to brighten our day, especially in today’s climate, when African American fathers don’t seem to get much recognition. Thankfully, “Pony” singer, Ginuwine, and his daughters -with ex-wife/rapper Sole’- have just displayed a perfect example of that. (Scroll down for video)…

Before we get to the touching video footage of what he did for his daughters, let us give you a quick reminder on Ginuwine’s past with Sole’ and his children.

Ginuwine has a total of 8 children -6 biological children and 2 stepchildren- by four women, and in a prior interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, he spoke about how difficult things can get with multiple baby-mothers:

Ginuwine- “When you have a babymama here, a babymama there, it’s going to be drama, period. Regardless of what one says to you—“I’m not going to trip like that,” “I’m cool” and all that—after a while that goes out the window. After you leave that one person and you find love somewhere else, that person that you were with, they hate that.”

As y’all already know, Ginuwine married Sole’ in 2003, but things went sour and they ultimately divorced in 2015.[FYI: Sole’ has since married Professor Griff of Public Enemy]. Though we were all rooting for them to last, Ginuwine said this about their divorce:

“We’re friends and we’re good, we’re going to raise our kids separately, and we’re good.”

The “So Anxious” crooner has always been a true family man. However, with divorce, comes separation of many elements in life- including the physical separation of a parent from their children, as is the case with Ginuwine and his children with Sole.’

How Ginuwine Surprised His Daughters…

After Ginuwines and Sole’s 2015 divorce, Sole’ and her kids apparently relocated to another city and/or state. This was a huge adjustment for them all, and it reduced Ginuwine’s daddy-time to primarily Face Timing his babies on the regular, as he explained in his Instagram post….

Due to the fact that he doesn’t get to see them daily anymore, Ginuwine decided to surprise their daughters; who didn’t know he would be standing at their door, waiting for them when they returned home one day. As soon as his daughters spotted him lurking around the corner, one of them jumped up into his arms and cried happy tears.

Their reactions were emotional and priceless. It was also a true reflection of the bond Ginuwine will always have with his babies, no matter the distance between them, nor how old they get. Elgin “Ginuwine” Lumpkin found himself in a particularly pleasing situation during a recent Ashanti performance. The singer graced him with a lap dance.

Although it wasn’t too S&M or bondage, apparently, Ashanti had Ginuwine bound to a chair on stage. According to him, his hands weren’t free, and she was on the verge of getting into “mad trouble.”

“@ashanti better stop hand cuffing me before she get in mad trouble,” Ginuwine mentions via his video post. As you’ll see from the video, during her lap dance, Ashanti ended up getting stuck to the “In Those Jeans” singer — effectively staying on his lap longer than intended.

In the video, you’ll see Ashanti and her crew members attempt to see what’s going on. Fans have commented that, without the volume turned up, they thought they were “feeling a hard penis,” says one Instagram user.
