ILOSM fam’ we have a pretty interesting Old School fun fact to share with y’all about the POTUS, whom many of us wish were back in the Oval Office right about now. Fifty-six year old President Obama has maintained a long friendship with his college buddy, who also happens to be a very well known actor.

They both graduated at the top of their class from Harvard Law School and actually met on the basketball court at Harvard. That’s right, Hollywood has a very smart brotha in their ranks and now we can proudly say, so did the White House. Nowadays the White House just has, well…Trump, but I digress. Anyways, see who Obama’s Hollywood college buddy is below…

What’chall know about films like, Get On The Bus, Hav Plenty, The Skulls, He Got Game, and TV shows like CSI: NY? If you know anything about them, then you also know actor, Hill Harper.

Hill (52) has been cool with Obama ever since his Harvard days. And remember we mentioned they both graduated at the top of their Harvard graduating class? Well, Hill Harper graduated cum laude in 1992 and as most of us know, his friend, Obama graduated magna cum laude in 1991. Now that deserves an Old School fist bump, hand clap, and standing ovation!

We all know where Obama’s passion for law led him, but many of us may not know Harper’s story. Although Hill went on to earn his Masters of Law degree from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University after graduating from Harvard Law School, his love of acting called his name. So after his masters degree, he poured his blood, sweat, and tears into making it in the entertainment world. However, dude didn’t stray too far from his other passions and is also an author and political advocate, who has spoken at Obama’s events in the past.

Do They Still Hang Out?

By the way, in case you’re wondering if they remained friends throughout Obama’s presidency, the answer is yep, they sure did. Hill also recently revealed that he and Obama still talk to this day. Here’s what he told New York Post in January 2017 about his current friendship with the 44th POTUS, after he left office:

“…I most recently saw our former POTUS at their final party at the White House a few weeks ago. It was a bittersweet occasion because I couldn’t be more proud of my longtime friend . . . Our country has benefited from his leadership in the past eight years and its sad to see him leave 1600 Penn Ave. But knowing him, this next chapter as an ambassador of the world, much like Nelson Mandela, will be equally impactful,” said Hill Harper.

Actor Hill Harper recently shared how he was ready for fatherhood after receiving a message from God.

Biggest Blessing:

Like many people, Christian actor, Hill Harper, wanted to be married before having children. For years, the 51 year-old actor shared with People magazine that he wanted to be a dad but he wanted a wife first. However, after years had gone by without Harper finding a wife, he still longed to be a father. In having a conversation with a friend, Harper was encouraged to consider adopting a child. Dismissing the notion due to being unmarried, his friend told him to at least explore the option. Taking his friend’s advice, Harper sought out an adoption attorney.

Harper connected with an adoption attorney, who walked him through the process and advised the star to call him when and if he was ready. Around Thanksgiving of 2015, Harper received the shock of his life when the adoption attorney phoned him with some exciting news.

Fast-forward to a few days before Thanksgiving [2015], and my phone rang,” said Harper to People magazine. The attorney revealed that a woman giving birth in three weeks was seeking adoptive parents for her child.

Unsure of what to do, Harper decided to have a conversation with the birth mom to see if this was something he could explore. Things moved so quickly, Harper was nervous and conflicted about what he should do. However, after speaking with the birth mom, Harper made a decision as he felt that the conversation was a sign from God.

I really felt like it was God telling me to do it, Harper said. And I’m so glad that he chose me, and [Pierce’s mom] and God and the universe chose me.

Like any dad, Harper was there for the birth of Pierce who was born in December 2015. Excitedly, Harper got to cut his son’s umbilical cord in the delivery room. While he was nervous, Harper feels blessed that he made the decision to adopt. He has a great support system that includes his mother, family, and his girlfriend.

Until the last 18 months, I’d never changed one diaper in my life, and now I’ve changed thousands, he laughs. I’ve gotten pretty good at it!

Now, Pierce is 18 months and singing along with Gospel songs. In a video posted to Harper’s Instagram, a Gospel song is playing in the background as Pierce sings along. During the video, Pierce sings that he’s blessed and what Pierce doesn’t know, is that his father feels equally as blessed. In an interview with “Good Morning America” on Friday, Harper also spoke about the blessing of fatherhood.
