Jane Fonda raised plenty eyebrows during her appearance on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.” Promoting her then-new film, “Book Club: The Next Chapter,” Fonda played a game of “Plead the Fifth”, where she spilled the beans about a pretty wild encounter with the “King of Pop” himself, Michael Jackson.

Fonda said her and Jackson’s unusual escapade took place during the early ’80s. The beloved actress disclosed that she had peeped Jackson in his birthday suit. Yep, you read that right! A gasp echoed through the studio as Fonda shared this surprising tidbit. The host, Andy Cohen, couldn’t hide his surprise, quickly urging Fonda to continue her tale.

According to Fonda, the situation went down on ‘a beautiful moonlit night’ at her cozy lakeside cottage while she was filming “On Golden Pond.” As their candid conversation unfolded, Fonda revealed that it was actually Jackson who suggested they go skinny-dipping. Fonda’s laughter filled the room as she detailed her astonishment at the proposition.

When Cohen asked the reason behind Jackson’s audacious request, Fonda proposed an odd, yet interesting theory. She believed that MJ knew his life would be cut short, and so he wanted Fonda to have a memorable anecdote to share, even if it involved him in his birthday suit:

“I think because he knew he was going to die young and I would talk about him, being naked,” she explained as the audience laughed. “He was skinny!”

Cohen, respecting Jackson’s memory, tactfully refrained from probing further…although we’re pretty sure everyone who was watching, wished he would’ve done the exact opposite in that moment.

Fonda’s story garnered quite the reaction from the audience and fans alike. The actress had managed to shock and amuse everyone with her candid account of a truly crazy amazing encounter with the most famous entertainer on the globe.

This isn’t the only interesting story Fonda shared during her time on the show. When asked about a man in Hollywood who had made advances toward her but was turned down, Fonda cheekily revealed that it was the French director, René Clément. She described how he approached her:

Fonda said, “He wanted to go to bed with me because he said the character had to have an orgasm in the movie, and he needed to see what my orgasms were like. He said it in French, and I pretended I didn’t understand.” Fonda smiled as she recounted pretending not to understand, displaying her quick wit and charm.

She summed all this up to Cohen with a statement no one could deny:

“I have stories for you kid, we don’t have time,” Jane joked with a smile on her face.

Jane Fonda certainly knows how to captivate an audience with her captivating stories. With her humorous personality, she leaves us eagerly waiting on her next surprising revelation. Luckily, this entertaining legend always has more stories to share.

For many years most of us never knew that Jane Fonda had an adopted African America daughter, Mary Williams, whom she adopted when Mary was about 14 years old. Mary was growing up in a low income pretty rough neighborhood in Oakland, CA and her family largely consist of former Black Panther members. Jane is as widely known for her legendary acting credits as she is for her political and social activism stemming as far back as the 60’s era. Mary became close with Jane at the age of 12, while attending Jane’s summer camp, Fonda’s Camp Laurel Springs, but it wasn’t until two years later that Jane actually offered to adopt Mary and there was a very good reason for that.

During the two summers Mary spent at Jane Fonda’s camp, Jane was instantly drawn to Mary’s “bubbly” personality, but after Mary suddenly stopped coming to Jane’s camp, she knew something had to be wrong.

SADLY, RAPE IS WHAT BROUGHT JANE & MARY TOGETHER

Jane said that for two years she watched Mary have that same bubbly personality. Then Mary didn’t come back and no one knew why. Only for her to return again and she was like a totally different person. Mary was much more withdrawn and her smile was gone and that’s when Mary eventually revealed to a camp counselor that she’d been raped, which explained her absence and her demeanor.

Jane Fonda’s ex-husband/billionaire, Ted Turner, with their adopted daughter, Mary

Jane then knew that she had to get Mary out of the environment she was living in, because it was killing her spirit right in front of her eyes. Jane consulted with Mary’s mom, and they agreed for her to live with Jane and her then-billionaire husband, Ted Turner. The rest is history.

Mary has now written a memoir, which she released in 2013, about growing up as the adopted African American daughter of the legendary Jane Fonda titled, “The Lost Daughter.”

Mary says Jane is the person “she loves the most” in the world, and she also admitted to ABC that she had anger toward her biological mom (shown in the video below) for a while, which she later moved past.

ABC Breaking News | Latest News Videos

Although Mary referred to Jane as having thrown her a life line at that dark period of her life, Jane explained how it was Mary who added that last piece to the puzzle and made her life whole instead:

(L-R): Jane Fonda; her adopted daughter, Mary; Mary’s biological mother

“She helped me to become whole…I think I learned as much or more from [Williams] as she did from me. But on a psychological level, she helped complete me,” Fonda explained.

See what Jane Fonda’s ACTOR SON had to say about growing up with an African American sister…

ACTOR, TROY GARITY, ON HAVING A BLACK SISTER: “I DIDN’T THINK THERE WAS ANYTHING UNUSUAL”

Jane Fonda’s son/actor, Troy Garity (known for his roles in HBO’s “Ballers” and “The Barbershop”), also expressed in the above video, how grateful he was to have Mary step into their lives when he was 12 years old. When Oprah asked Troy how he explained having an African American sister to his friends at that time, he genuinely expressed how he never did explain it to anyone because in his eyes she was simply his sister and there was nothing strange about the situation:

“I never explained it,” Troy said “I didn’t think there was anything unusual.”

Troy said as a kid, prior to Mary moving in with them, he naturally gravitated toward Mary in Fonda’s camp and they became cool as a fan, so when she moved in and became his new big sis,’ he was excited:

“She just sort of came down [to live with us] and it was fine and happy for me because it was somebody that I had a connection with. … She was older, which is always cool..”

This is just another example that TRUE love has no color, it’s just love. We respect Mary Williams, Jane Fonda, and her fam’ for sharing their story with the world.

The legendary Jane Fonda (84) has always been a woman with two passions- she loves acting, but as a human rights activist, she despises White privilege and injustice within America and beyond. Throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, was when her activism was fully put to the test, as the FBI surveilled her for her support of the Black Panther Party. Fonda supported the civil rights organization in several ways- through financial donations, posting bail money for their political prisoners, and more. In 1970, her support of the News Orleans chapter of the Black Panther Party (BPP) showed just how much of a gangsta she really was and how far she was willing to go, in order to help the BPP fight for the rights of African Americans.

The Dangerous Police Standoff That Led To Fonda’s Help

Jane Fonda’s mug shot

In October 1970, the New Orleans chapter of the Black Panther moved their headquarters into the N.O.’s Desire Housing Project, following the unjust killing of a teen male by officers in the area. Although the N.O.P.D. along wth the national government and FBI, wanted the Black Panthers eliminated, the residents of the Desire and the surrounding community welcomed their presence with opened arms. The BPP was there to aid the community with food programs, protection from racist acts by law enforcement, racist civilians, and more.

As a result of the love the Panthers showed the community, they, in turn, protected the BPP members when it came time for a stand-off between the N.O.P.D. and several BPP members, who were holed up inside of the Desire apartments.

Black Panther Party

The November 19, 1970 Desire project stand-off was the result of the government’s attempt to evict the Panthers from the property. Thousands of residents (including children) from the community, stood in front of the Desire buildings to prevent the officers from shooting and killing the Panthers at will. During the ordeal, the BPP members were inside the Desire project and well prepared for war if necessary- equipped with artillery, grenades, etc. The N.O. mayor at that time, Moon Landrieu, tried to talk them into leaving, but they refused unless they offered to help the residents in that community in several ways. Therefore, Landrieu sent bus loads of officers and a helicopter into the community.

The officers finally retreated, after realizing the Panthers would not vacate the premises, nor would the residents back down.

What Fonda Did To Assist Panthers After Police Standoff

Embed from Getty Images

Following that Nov. 19 incident, some of the members contacted their longtime supporter, Jane Fonda, to inform her of what went down. By November 24, she was in New Orleans, leading a protest that challenged the Housing Authority of New Orleans for previously denying Black Panther member, Harold Holmes, a right to rent an apartment in the Desire Project without any just cause to do so. Thus, leading to the BPP’s taking matters into their own hands and setting up shop at the Desire project anyway.

Following the stand-off, Jane Fonda also praised the N.O. Black Panthers, in the press, for not backing down from the N.O.P.D.’s eviction attempt, stating:

“How can we smug White people say what Black people should do? We have done nothing for centuries to stop the violence perpetuated against them.”

The next day, on November 25, 1970, some of the Black Panther members, were being surveilled by N.O.P.D. officers. When they learned of the surveillance, they asked Jane to assist them with getting out of the state unnoticed, so they could attend a very important Black Panther organized national convention against injustice. Jane Fonda then rented 4 cars- under her name, with her credit card- for them to leave the state incognito. Unfortunately, the N.O.P.D. officers were also surveilling Fonda and that lead them to the Panthers she’d helped. The officers stopped the Panthers in the four rented vehicles, as they were leaving the Desire project and arrested them for no reason, other than being Black Panthers.

Officer Reveals Run In With Fonda

Jane Fonda

At the time of her November 1970 visit to New Orleans, Jane Fonda eventually realized that her every move was being trailed by an N.O.P.D. officer. That officer also happened to be Black, but was working against the Black Panthers at that time and he later revealed exactly what happened when Jane came face to face with him. In the book, “Showdown in Desire: The Black Panthers Take a Stand in New Orleans,” Officer Larry Williams recalled how Fonda called him all sorts of names for ‘selling out’ his own people. He also admitted that as an officer back then, they knew they abused their authority against the Panthers. Check out the book’s excerpts below:

For many years, most of us never knew that legendary actress, Jane Fonda (83), had an adopted African American daughter, Mary Williams (53), whom she adopted when Mary was about 14 years old. Mary was growing up in a pretty rough low income neighborhood in Oakland, CA and her family largely consists of former Black Panther members. Jane is as widely known for her legendary acting credits, as she is for her political and social activism stemming as far back as the 60’s era.

Mary became close with Jane at the age of 12, while attending Jane’s summer camp, ‘Fonda’s Camp Laurel Springs,’ but it wasn’t until two years later that Jane actually offered to adopt Mary and there was a very good reason for that…

FONDA & DAUGHTER ON THE TRAUMA THAT BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER & THEIR RACIAL DIFFERENCES

Jane Fonda and daughter, Mary Williams

During the two summers Mary spent at Jane Fonda’s camp, Jane was instantly drawn to her “bubbly” personality, but after Mary suddenly stopped going to the camp, Jane knew something had to be wrong. Only for Mary to return two years later and then she was like a totally different person. Mary was much more withdrawn and her smile was gone and that’s when she’d eventually revealed to a camp counselor that she’d been raped, which explained her absence and her demeanor.

Jane then knew that she had to get Mary out of the environment she was living in, because it was killing her spirit right in front of her eyes. Jane consulted with Mary’s biological mother, they ultimately agreed that Mary would live with Jane and her then-billionaire husband, Ted Turner, and the rest is history.

Mary has now written a memoir, which she released in 2013, about growing up as the adopted African American daughter of the legendary Jane Fonda titled, “The Lost Daughter.”

She says Jane is the person “she loves the most” in the world and she also admitted to ABC that she had anger toward her biological Mom (shown in the video below) for a while, which she later moved past.

Although Mary referred to Jane as having thrown her a life line at that dark period of her life, Jane explained how it was Mary who added that last piece to the puzzle and changed her life whole instead:

“She helped me to become whole…I think I learned as much or more from [Williams] as she did from me. But on a psychological level, she helped complete me,” Fonda explained.

See what Jane Fonda’s ACTOR SON had to say about growing up with an African American sister…

SADLY, RAPE IS WHAT BROUGHT JANE & MARY TOGETHER

Troy said as a kid, prior to Mary moving in with them, he naturally gravitated toward Mary in Fonda’s camp and they became cool as a fan, so when she moved in and became his new big sis,’ he was excited:

This is just another example that TRUE love has no color, it’s just love. We respect Mary Williams, Jane Fonda, and her fam’ for sharing their story with the world.

The legendary Jane Fonda (82) has always been a woman with two passions- she loves acting, but as a human rights activist, she despises White privilege and injustice within America and beyond.

The legendary Jane Fonda (80) has always been a woman with two passions- she loves acting, but as a human rights activist, she despises White privilege and injustice within America and beyond.

For many years most of us never knew that Jane Fonda had an adopted African America daughter, Mary Williams, whom she adopted when Mary was about 14 years old. Mary was growing up in a low income pretty rough neighborhood in Oakland, CA and her family largely consist of former Black Panther members. Jane is as widely known for her legendary acting credits as she is for her political and social activism stemming as far back as the 60’s era. Mary became close with Jane at the age of 12, while attending Jane’s summer camp, Fonda’s Camp Laurel Springs, but it wasn’t until two years later that Jane actually offered to adopt Mary and there was a very good reason for that…
