There is a difference between being pissed off with someone, and outright attempting to crush their spirit by demolishing their career. That, according to Huffington Post, is precisely what a CBS head honcho had done to Janet for well over a DECADE. It all stared in 2004, after Janet’s and Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl “Nipplegate” scandal, and it’s reportedly been on and poppin’ ever since.

What Started The CBS Exec’s Alleged Years-Long Grudge Against Janet

If y’all haven’t heard of CBS CEO, Les Moonves, let’s get into who he is. He’s was a top executive at CBS from the 1990’s to 2018, when he was allegedly forced to resign after being accused of sexual harassment by six women within the entertainment industry. His buyout from his CBS contract was reportedly upwards of $100 million.

As one HuffPost reporter was researching the sex assault allegations against Moonves, the topic of what he’d reportedly been doing to damage Janet Jackson’s career arose. According to the publication, dude has had it out for Janet ever since CBS had to pay a $550,000.00 fine for FCC violations, as a result of Janet’s and Justin’s “Nipplegate” 2004 Super Bowl performance.

From the jump, Janet and Justin have repeatedly said the whole nipple-on-the-loose incident was a mistake. Word on the Old School curb is that Moonves didn’t believe it was a mistake, but rather an attempt to ‘stir up controversy.’

One would think that the issue Moonves had, was the $550K CBS had to cough up, but according to Huff Post journalist, Yashar Ali (who spoke directly with those working underneath Moonves), it was because even though Janet apologized to Moonves, she did not bow down to him with a “sufficiently repentant” apology. However, Justin supposedly did. Translation: Janet refused to be the ‘submissive Black chick’ Moonves was seemingly expecting…and thus, he probably felt offended that she had the audacity to be not only a woman with dignity, but a Black woman with dignity…just my viewpoint, but I digress…

There’s also this– according to the publication, Justin Timberlake cried tears of sorrow and regret in a private meeting with Moonves as he tearfully apologized to him. Moonves supposedly liked Justin’s apology…and thus, did not tamper with his career, according to the report.

Janet reportedly issued an apology, but apparently did so with dignity, and refused to sob to Moonves. According to Huff Post, Moonves was offended by that self-dignified display of professionalism and pride in Janet’s apology.

What CBS Exec Did To Allegedly ‘Destroy’ Janet Jackson

Moonves then reportedly vowed to destroy Janet, by having her blacklisted and her career has taken a hit ever since:

Via HuffPost: Moonves banned Jackson and Timberlake from the 2004 Grammys broadcast airing on CBS the week after the Super Bowl. But Timberlake was allowed to perform after he tearfully apologized for the incident, according to conversations Moonves had with my sources.

The CBS chief executive, according to sources who spoke to me, was furious that Jackson didn’t make a similarly contrite apology to him. The fallout from the incident inflicted significant damage on Jackson’s career ― which until that point had produced 10 No. 1 hits ― and still reverberates to this day.

Moonves ordered Viacom properties VH1 and MTV, and all Viacom-owned radio stations, to stop playing Jackson’s songs and music videos. The move had a huge impact on sales of her album “Damita Jo,” which was released in March 2004, just a month after the Super Bowl.

There’s more, the Huff Post reporter also revealed the further damage and anger Moonves had for Janet YEARS later:

Via HP: Seven years after the 2004 incident, Moonves told several sources he was furious when he found out Jackson had signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster for her book True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself. Simon & Schuster is owned by the CBS Corporation.

“How the fu*k did she slip through?” Moonves asked while recounting the story to a source who spoke to me. He told another source that heads were going to roll as a result of the deal.

The reporter also said that Moonves’ obsession to destroy Janet is so “aggressive” that, ‘one source said they couldn’t speak to me on the record because “I’m not interested in having that man following me to the grave and trying to screw me over the whole time.”’

Moonves has a long held reputation of holding grudges with folks who don’t play the game his way. According to The New York Times, one of his six sexual assault accusers –actress, Cybill Shepherd– stated that he intentionally damaged her career, by canceling her sitcom, “Cybill,” career after she’d turned down his advances. Actress, Bobbie Phillips, claims Les sexually assaulted her in the mid-’90s and in 2018 she reportedly publicly called him out on it for allegedly trying to bury the allegations. Wow.

By now, most fans of the Jackson fam’ have heard all about Joe Jackson’s secret daughter, Joh’Vonnie Jackson. Since she didn’t grow up with her half-siblings, she’s never really had the opportunity to speak publicly about her life as a Jackson – until recent years. In recent years, Joh’Vonnie appeared on “The Talk” daytime talk show, where she had the opportunity to promote her then new book, “Bastard Child.” You can probably guess what the book is about, but it also includes a few details about her few interactions with her half-siblings. She openly discussed one incident with Janet Jackson that didn’t go very well.

During the “The Talk” discussion, Joh’Vonnie, now 46, recalled the first time she met Janet Jackson. Although Joh’Vonnie is biologically related to the famed singer, that didn’t mean she wasn’t a starstruck fan like everyone else. So, of course, she was ecstatic about meeting her sister, but unfortunately, the first meeting went all the way left. But, why did things go awry so quickly? Well, Joh’Vonnie has revealed one word she said made things completely awkward. She referred to Joe Jackson as “daddy.” For those who don’t know, Janet and her siblings were never allowed to call their father “Daddy.” All of the Jackson children referred to their father simply as “Joseph.”

Joh’Vonnie said, we met up at Rebbie’s house and we were having a pretty good conversation until I said, ‘Daddy’ and she got upset. But the reason she got upset is because he did not allow them to call him Daddy.”

A 25-Year Affair:

For the Jackson children, learning about Joh’Vonnie definitely wasn’t easy. Then to make matters worse, it was revealed that Joh’Vonnie’s mother, Cheryle, wasn’t exactly a one-night-stand for Joe. The two reportedly had a 25-year affair and Joe wasn’t exactly an absentee father. Based on Joh’Vonnie’s claims, it appears Joe lived a double life because she has a completely different view of Joe, filled with fond memories and family vacations. With she and her mother, he wasn’t the so-called ‘slave-driving perfectionist’ he was often depicted as with his other children.

“He would come round most days sometimes without warning, he was very much a presence in my life, I was a daddy’s girl, sai Joh’Vonnie. “I would be so excited, he would bring me presents, my favorite black walnut ice cream. I was spoiled rotten.”

For Joh’Vonnie, family life was great until she learned the truth about her father. At age 11, she learned that he was a married man. She revealed she met Katherine Jackson during a chance encounter at a nail salon. She admitted it was all so confusing:

“We walk in [the salon] and there’s Katherine Jackson sitting right there. I got so upset, so nervous – I was confused. And she said, ‘She looks just like him’ – she said that to my best friend. So, I left out and shouted, ‘I’m gonna call my daddy.’

She continued:

The reason I was so upset was because we couldn’t even shop at the corner grocery store. We had to go to a different grocery store. And now she’s in the neighborhood getting her nails done, I’m thinking I might possibly get in trouble. It was such a confusing time.”

Moved On:

Despite the past-estrangement, Joh’Vonnie has admitted that things eventually changed for the better over the years. During previous interviews, she admitted Katherine Jackson once referred to her as the “bastard child,” but she’s admitted the Jackson family matriarch’s pain was understandable:

“I think she was very hurt at the time of the affair. That’s totally understandable. No woman likes for her husband to go cheating on her and produce a child. It was probably heart-breaking,” Joh’Vonnie said. “But she had come out of that, she let me live in her home, me and my daughter, and I took care of her home when she was not there. We’ve cooked together and have had good conversations.”

It’s unclear of 90 years young Katherine Jackson still has any type of relationship with Joh’Vonnie, but it’s good to see the Jackson matriarch still going strong to this day.

As you know, Joe Jackson passed away in June 2018 at age 89 –just one month prior to his 90th birthday– but his legacy will live on forever.

In a sentimental online post, Janet shared a new photo of herself chillin’ with her niece, Paris…in Paris for Fashion Week.

She captioned the photo with a loving message:

“So good catching up w/ my beautiful niece @parisjackson 💖💖💖”

Soon after the post was shared, Paris was the first one to reply, leaving a black heart emoji on Janet’s post.

Fans are excited as all get-out to see the Jackson ladies back together again, voicing their love for the two in the comments.

It’s Been A Long Time Coming…

Now, we’re not sure exactly when, or if Janet and Paris reunited in the past…following their infamous heated argument that was captured on video in 2012. Many of y’all may remember when Auntie Janet pulled up on Paris and her brothers, Prince and Bigi (formerly Blanket) Jackson outside of their California home at that time.

Their argument was allegedly over the family’s claims (at that time), that the Jackson fam’s matriarch, Katherine Jackson, was missing for a few days…and apparently the three Jackson kids were missing as well back then. Upon their return to their home, Janet and her brother, Randy Jackson, were right there to confront Michael’s kids. At that point, Janet seemingly let her inner ‘Joe Jackson’ surface after Paris appears to have brushed her off…to which Janet responded by attempting to slap Paris’s phone out of her hand. Paris seemed shocked and then scurried inside the home.

After that video went viral, Janet and Paris reportedly had not been seen in public together ever since that 2012 incident. So, that’s why fans are rejoicing after seeing that Janet has let bygones be bygones with her niece, Paris.

On a side note, big ups to Janet for representin’ the Old School very well. During her recent Fashion Week appearance, she looked GOODT– not ‘good’…but GOODT…there’s a difference. 🙃

If you’re from the Old School you know this brotha very well. He is the one and only…[drumroll please!]…

James DeBarge of the 80’s R&B group, DeBarge, also known as Janet’s ex-husband! Janet was married to him at the time if “What Have You Done For Me Lately’s” production. Like we said earlier, Jimmy Jam let the cat out of the bag on this one. When he and Terry Lewis were working on Janet’s album, “Control,” this song was created to document the turmoil Janet’s and James’ marriage.

Here’s what Jimmy Jam said:
“The lyric came up because of a relationship Janet had gotten out of [her marriage to soul singer James DeBarge, which was annulled a year earlier]. The concept was basically, ‘he used to do nice things for you, but what has he done for you lately?'”

Who would’ve thunk it?!! Now that we know this, it all makes sense – Janet has repeatedly talked about the fact that she is an “emotional eater” who tends to eat a lot of junk food when she’s stressed about something going on in her life, resulting in weight gain (although she still looked great in my humble opinion).

If you were watching “Video Soul” and “Soul Train” back in the late ’80s era, you probably remember the model/dancer you’re about to see. His name is, or rather his name was, Rudy Houston. He was the dude plenty of women, and teenage girls alike, were going crazy over when he played Janet Jackson’s leading man in her “What Have You Done For Me Lately” video.

He was also the brotha who singer, Pebbles, was asking if he wanted to “Ride in My Mercedes Boy” in her  80’s video as well. Although his initial start as a “Solid Gold” dancer was a solid gig for him, after Janet and Pebbles shined the lights on him, it was on, and his popularity shot through the roof. Things are a lot different with him now though.

Well fam,’ that was then…this is now, and Rudy Houston makes Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) look throwback. In fact, Bruce was still enjoying life as a newly-married man to Kris Jenner when, in 1995, Rudy Houston was beginning his transition into his new reality. I Love Old School Music fam,’ in case y’all hadn’t heard, Missy “Misdeameanor” Elliott and Janet Jackson have been really good friends for decades — 24 years to be exact, according to Missy. They are always there for each other and have both publicly stated as much in the past.

This go ’round it was Missy’s turn to share a tidbit of inside info about what Janet recently did for her to lift her spirits, when Missy confessed she was emotionally drained as of late.

In a video clip below, Missy shared that after Janet flew from London to the U.S. just to see her, she expressed how grateful she was to Janet for droppin’ by to check in on her. Janet stood smiling in the background as Missy cracked a couple jokes as well. The video ended with “The Golden Girls” theme song, “Thank You For Being A Friend” playing in the background.

Jermaine Dupri Suggests Getting Back With Janet Is “A Phone Call Away”

“When people on Twitter say, ‘Why haven’t you said happy birthday to Janet Jackson?’. . . these people are stupid. It’s a person that I dated for almost 10 years. I can pick up the phone and call that person. So when you ask if I wish that I could get Janet Jackson back — it’s a phone call away.” -Jermaine Dupri

Why He Refuses To Work With Janet Again

Dupri may still have major love for Janet, but he ain’t interested in working with her again:

“The only reason I say that is because I feel cheated in a way from the ‘20 Y.O.’ album that I did … a lot of people discredit me for that album. It has nothing to do with me and her.”

The two were dating when Jermaine produced Janet’s 2006 album, titled “20 Y.O.” Many fans accused Jermaine for the album’s perceived failure:

“I saw a lot of fans say, ‘JD messed her career up with that album’ . . . That album almost sold 400,000 copies in its first week and produced a No. 1 hit. I don’t know why that’s not a success,” he said.

Secret Lover Allegations

Ever since they went their separate ways years ago, their have been ongoing rumors that the two were secret lovers for years. They reportedly even kept in touch during Janet’s marriage to her son’s father, Wissam Al Mana. Not sure if any of those rumors are true, but Jermaine’s subliminal signals about their current ‘friendship’ sure does raise a few ‘brows.

Throughout the years, Janet Jackson’s had a few public relationships…some lasting longer than others. Her last known public union was with her billionaire ex-husband and father of her son, Wissam El Mana. However, their lightening speed post-baby split in 2017 – shortly after son, Eissa, was born – pretty much put the nail in the coffin as far as their marriage.

That brings us back to a time when we saw Janet truly happy in her relationship – the time that she was with her then long-term boyfriend/SoSo Def music mogul, Jermaine Dupri. They dated for nine years, before finally saying ‘peace out‘ to each other in 2009.

When news first broke that Jermaine had actually pulled Janet, he gave many men across the world hope that maybe one day they could shoot their shot at Janet too. Of course that was not the case, but it was cool to dream. Anyways, we wanted to share with y’all what Janet once shared in her 2006 Essence Magazine interview, regarding what she loved about having sex with Jermaine. Simply put, Janet revealed a lot about her very high sexual drive that most men couldn’t keep up with…daaaaamn. Here’s what was reported via PopSugar:

Janet Jackson confesses she enjoyed sex more than her lovers did – until she met Jermaine Dupri. “I feel like I finally met my match,” she tells Essence magazine. “In relationships it was always the guy telling me, ‘OK, hold on, wait a minute.’ I’d ask my girlfriends, ‘Aren’t we supposed to be the ones who say, ‘Wait, not tonight, I have a headache’? This happened through two [marriages] for me. I thought something’s not right here. But with Jermaine I don’t have to say anything; he knows I’m ready. Any time, any place.”

Okay Janet, that “Anytime, Anyplace” reference was on point, we see what you did there. Now, sure Janet’s revelation that she likes to get it in all day, errday may be a little TMI (too much information) for some. But I think it’s also pretty cool that they loved each other so much, that Janet felt comfortable enough – maybe even too comfortable – to talk about her man in that way.

I also think now that Janet is single, maybe Jermaine should try to get ‘his woman’ back again. Hell, he might as well…especially after making a lifetime commitment to Janet by putting that big tattoo of her face on his ribs…

And besides, Janet’s and Jermaine Dupri’s relationship was a win-win for both of them. Janet was with a man whom she said (in a prior interview) made her ‘truly feel beautiful from the inside out.’ And Jermaine Dupri actually got to date the sister of the icon he imitated when he was that jheri-curl-rockin,’ pop-locking kid wearing the Michael Jackson inspired jacket in Whodini’s “Friends” video back in the day…
