Ron Isley (80) is one of the coldest soul singers to ever grace the music game. He’s also experienced a lot of highs and lows throughout his 67 years in the business. He’s loss some of his brothers, had kids along the way, divorced his longtime wife/singer Angela Winbush, suffered health setbacks, married a new wife, had another child- a son, went to prison, and bounced back like he never left…in that order.

When Ron Isley married his then-28 year old bride, Kandy Johnson-Isley, he was 64 years old… and many were pretty surprised by of their age difference. The year was 2005, when Mr. and Mrs. Isley recited their vows to each other in a fairytale style wedding. Little did anyone know, the following year, in September 2006, Ron would be sentenced to three years in federal prison for tax evasion. To make matters worse, Kandi was very pregnant with their son at the time of her man’s sentencing.

During that bittersweet time, fans were concerned for Ron, wondering if he’d actually make it through his entire sentence, while the Isleys’ families were probably worried about Kandi and their unborn son’s wellbeing, due to the stress the tax issue had caused.

Well people, in the words of Sanford & Son’s “Aunt Esther”: “HALLELUJAH!!” because Ron, Kandi and their son, Ron Jr., may have had some bumps along the way, but they made through. Now that we’re all caught up on the challenged circumstances Ron Isley Jr. was born into, meet the swagged out offspring of ‘Mr. Biggs’ below…

Kandy Isley (44) shared the above photo, online, of the three of them as she also saluted her hubby with a loving message:

He’s growing up fast and given the fact that BOTH of his parents can SANG, the suspense is killing us on whether or not Ron Jr. has inherited those same traits.

Will we be seeing a ‘Mr. Biggs Jr.’ in the future? Only time will tell…but no pressure Ron Jr., because those are some big shoes to fill.

Ron’s Wife Explains What She Really Loves About Him

We previously reported that Ron and Kandi did an interview with KTVI, in which Kandi explained why she married Islay. So just in case y’all are starring at their photos wondering how that May/December romance has lasted so long, here’s what Mrs. Isley had to say:

Kandi Johnson Isley: “He’s [Ron Isley] a GENTLEMEN! I mean, you’re talking about romance, he puts the ‘R’ in romance…from fine dining, to treating a woman like a man should, with respect. As we developed a relationship, we had a lot of things in common and Ronald…even though he’s older, he’s young at heart.”

Kandy Isley isn’t the only young woman in her family who married a soul music legend, her big sis’, Krystal, managed to do so as well. Both married up, on several levels: financially, age-wise, and more.

A we previously reported, Kandy Isley (44) has been married to music legend, Ron Isley (79), for the past 16 years (since 2005) and counting. Although the Isley Brothers OG is 35 years his wife’s senior, they’ve made it work and clearly love each other very much. They also have a son together.

Kandy Isley’s sis,’ Krystal, was married to the one and only (drumroll please)…Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire! Krystal’s age isn’t crystal-clear, but it’s been said that she’s in her mid to late 40s. Her ex-hubby Philip is 69.

Krystal was reportedly EW&F’s background singer when the two fist began dating.

The former Mr. and Mrs. jumped the broom in 2002 and divorced 8 years later, in 2010.

When Ron Isley exchanged vows with his bride, Kandy –who is 35 years his junior– in 2005, a lot of people were suspicious. At the wedding ceremony, Kandy donned a beautiful, custom made $15,000 gown, Ron gifted her with a $3million necklace, and at the ceremony he slid that big 14 carat diamond rock onto her left hand. George Duke played at their wedding, Philip Bailey serenaded them, Kid Kapri DJ’d the reception, and The Beverly Hills Hotel setting didn’t come cheap…that’s when people really started talking.

Their wedding was somewhat symbolic of the ‘money driven,’ ‘sugar daddy’ suspicions many folks have voiced all over the internet, regarding why a then 28 year old Kandy married a then 63 year old Ronald. In recent years Kandy Isley sat down with Ronald Isley to discuss why she married her husband.

RON ISLEY & WIFE DISCUSS THEIR ATTRACTION

Ron Isley and Kandy dated for 7 years prior to getting married in 2005 and have a teen son together. In a prior interview with KTVI, from their home in St. Louis, MO, Kandy revealed why she’s attracted to her now 79 year old husband:

“He’s a GENTLEMEN! I mean, you’re talking about romance, he puts the ‘R’ in romance…from fine dining, to treating a woman like a man should, with respect. As we developed a relationship, we had a lot of things in common and Ronald…even though he’s older, he’s young at heart.”

Then Ron Isley added:

“She does these amazing things for me, you know. She answers a lot of questions that I need to have answers for you know and she keeps me going.”

Kandy also said “Age ain’t nothing but a number,” and we’re very happy for the lovebirds. BUT many people across the internet don’t feel the same way. See what they’re saying here…

Geesh…some of these comments are harsh! Kandy obviously loves her some ‘Mr. Biggs’ and he obviously loves him some Kandy, so if they’re happy, we’re happy for them.
