In a surprising turn of events, Consequence, Kanye West’s longtime homie and rapper, has called him out, demanding an apology. It’s pretty odd that Consequence would even want to be associated with Kanye’s latest rant about supporting Hitler– as ‘Ye recently did during his confusing rant about Adolf Hitler, Donald Trump, and Jesus Christ during his Vegas listening session.

However, it’s worth noting that Consequence has been publicly loyal and has always spoken up for Kanye in the face of backlash . Consequence, as he is affectionately known, has been by Kanye’s side since 2002, through thick and thin. He has consistently supported ‘Ye, along with other loyal members of his team like Don C, John Monopoly, and GLC. But Consequence feels betrayed when Kanye claimed to be alone in his fight against the supposed Jewish powers that be, leaving his team in an awkward position.

After Kanye released his new $200 Yeezy Pod shoes (pictured above) on Thursday (Dec. 28, 2023), Consequence took to Instagram to express his frustration with ‘Ye, stating:

“I’m posting this clip of the YZY Pods because I was asked to by a staff member but I have to get something off my chest regardless of the consequences…

I have always lent my love, support and expertise to YE since ConMan Productions circa 2002

So @kanyewest NEVER again say in public or to others in private that you are ALONE … That’s the biggest SLAP IN THE FACE you could give to your TEAM … Guys like me, Don C, Monop, GL, Doe,IBN,Arrow and even Virgil (RIP) have given you big portions of our Adult lives so that we could all be “The Bulls”

But we didn’t help you become Jordan so you could turn into Jerry Krause and start playing 3D Musical chairs wit da bros!!!

Consequence then referenced the recent Hebrew-written apology Kanye released after offending the Jewish community, and ultimately demanded that ‘Ye now release an English-written apology to him, as well as others within his own camp:

“If you can apologize to the Jewish community in Hebrew… Then maybe you should apologize to a few of your guys in English … Love you bro. But This Is 192”

Consequence’s demand for an apology reflects the deep hurt he feels and the need for respect from his longtime homie. It remains to be seen how this public call-out will impact their relationship and the future of their collaboration. One thing is for sure, Consequence has proven to be a loyal friend who has always had Kanye’s back, even when it seems that he most definitely shouldn’t have.

The hole that is Kanye West’s career and financial standing is getting deeper. This time, by way of two African-American men who have found a way to put a stop to Kanye selling his new line of “White Lives Matter” shirts in the U. S.

As y’all already know, Ye has caused an enormous storm of controversy as of late, partially due to the launch of his ‘WLM’ shirts– which included a photo of Pope John Paul II on the front, and the the ‘WLM’ phrase on the back.

Welp, fast forward to now…and Ramses Ja and Quinton Ward — hosts of the racial justice radio show, “Civic Cipher,” became the proud owners of the “White Lives Matter” trademark for use of the phrase on any apparel being sold in the United States. In late October 2022, the hosts took over ownership of the trademark from an anonymous buyer who’d originally copped the trademark on the same day Kanye debuted his Yeezy ‘WLM’ shirts during Paris Fashion Week.

“Civic Cipher” hosts, Ja and Ward, confessed that taking ownership of the ‘WLM’ phrase was a tough decision for them, but they agreed to do so “once it was clear that someone stood to gain significant profit from it, because as you’ve seen, even though he (West) says some really hurtful, divisive and sometimes crazy things, he has a bit of a zealot following and every time he releases something, it sells out,” Ward told CNN.

The hosts said the ‘WLM’ phrase has stuck around within this nation’s culture longer than they would have liked, and are hoping that no one will be using the term within the next month are so. They also consider owning the ‘WLM’ trademark as a “responsibility” to ensure it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. So they’re aiming to make sure no one can profit off the phrase, at least when it comes to spreading the controversial message via clothing.

The ‘WLM’ phrase is oftentimes used by White supremacists groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan; and is described as a racist response to the Black Lives Matter movement– a social outcry for Black people to finally receive racial equality in America. The Anti-Defamation League has also categorized the ‘WLM’ phrase as “hate speech.”

Ward and Ja shared details on exactly how their impactful WLM ownership came to be:

Via CNN– The trademark was first filed last month, data from the US Patent and Trademark Office shows. …
The person who initially secured the trademark transferred its ownership to Ja and Ward’s company Civic Cipher LLC weeks later, according to data from the US Patent and Trademark Office. …

Civic Cipher told CNN, the original owner of the trademark is a listener of their show and wishes to remain anonymous.

Ja told CNN that ownership of the trademark means having the exclusive right to sell clothing with that term. When the listener found out the rapper-producer “re-popularized” the term, “I think that maneuver was primarily to ensure that other people would not profit from it.”

Ja and Ward don’t know why the listener initially bought the rights to the phrase but they speculate that when the term went viral again, the listener “no longer felt that they were the right person to champion those efforts.”

For several years now, Kanye has been out here cuttin’ up with his divisive remarks that greatly impact African Americans. For example, in 2018 he publicly stated that slavery was “a choice”; and in 2015 he said racism is “a dated concept.”

Listen…we can go on and on about Ye’s racial antics regarding Black people, but y’all get the point. Anywho…now that Kanye has also recently offended Jewish people with some of his latest racially insensitive comments, he’s currently dealing with a mound of tension and exclusion – both professionally and personally – it seems. After Adidas dropped him, he’s lost his spot on Forbes Billionaires list; and his ex/mother of his children, Kim Kardashian, apparently ain’t too fond him these days either.

Hopefully, Kanye will just take some time off to recompose himself, and gain better understanding of the many racial issues of he seems to be severely out of touch.

As Kanye West continues to put his foot in his mouth regarding topics of the plight of African Americans — including his inaccurate claims about George Floyd’s death; his “White Lives Matter Shirt” controversy, and his controversial statements about Jewish people — it seems his now-former business partner, Adidas, has put it’s foot down. And as a result, Kanye is reportedly no longer a billionaire, according to Forbes.

Ever since Ye claimed, in his recent Drink Champs interview, that he could give as many “Anti-Semetic” rants as he wanted to, and damn near dared Adidas to drop him…stating that “Adidas can’t drop me,” the Nazi-founded German athletic company has been catching all sorts of flack for obvious reasons.

The hashtag, #boycottadidas, was trending on Twitter recently because fans were highly pissed that Adidas was remaining pretty silent on Ye’s statements.

Adidas Explains Why They Cut Ties With Ye

For the record, Adidas had previously simply released a statement stating their “relationship” with Kanye was “under review.”

Welp…all that’s changed now that Adidas has had to face that heat that Ye has brought to their ‘kitchen’ —including the confirmation that fans recently learned about Adidas’s original founder having supported the Nazi party back in the day.

As of today, October 25, 2022, Adidas decided to part ways with Ye, his Yeezy line, and the popularity he brought to the brand, helping to revitalize it greatly.

Via Forbes: “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness,” the company declared in a press release. “After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”

Here’s Kanye’s New Estimated Net Worth

According to Forbes, now that Adidas has cut ties with Kanye, his estimated net worth has dropped from
$1.1 BILLION to $400 MILLION:

Via Forbes– The $1.5 billion value of the Adidas deal was calculated off of a multiple of annual earnings. Based on interviews with industry experts, Forbes had viewed the royalties Ye received from Adidas to be similar to royalties from music catalogs or film residuals. The Adidas income stream could be sold off, those experts said, just like dozens of musicians (including the likes of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen) have sold off their life’s work over the past two years.

Without Adidas, Ye is worth $400 million. The remainder of Ye’s fortune, Forbes estimates, comes from real estate, cash, his music catalog and a 5% stake in ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear firm, Skims. (A source close to Skims told Forbes Ye hasn’t been involved with the brand since its 2019 launch.)

Overall, this is a lose-lose situation for Ye and Adidas…but clearly a necessary one, for Adidas. Hell, many would say it would’ve been great to see Adidas have this same energy years ago, when Kanye initially began divisively downplaying the struggle of his people in the media, by continuing to support Donald Trump after Trump’s divisive statements and/or actions that ultimately affected people of color. But I digress.

At any rate, this is no laughing matter…Ye – who is admittedly bipolar –  seems to be going through a mental health breakdown at the moment. Hopefully, someone within his camp will soon be able to re-center him somewhat, and get him to tackle whatever inner issues he’s experiencing at this time.

Approximately 24 years ago (1998) Lauryn Hill rapped the lyrics, “It’s silly when girls sell their souls because it’s in.” And right about now, fans can only imagine if those same thoughts are on her mind regarding her 23-year-old daughter (Bob Marley’s granddaughter), Selah Marley’s, latest business move. You see, Kanye West has caused a major tizzy all across social media, by rockin’ a “White Lives Matter” shirt for his new Yeezy clothing collection on Monday, in Paris. Thing is, he also took Lauryn’s model-daughter along for that ride…to the surprise of many.

So, why are fans surprised and now speaking out on this? For several reasons. For starters, Kanye is doing what Kanye does — sparking controversy. But what really has many Lauryn Hill fans taken aback, is that Selah Marley is doing what her moms, nor late activist grandfather, Bob Marley, would likely not have done — she’s teamed up with Trump-supporting Kanye, and flaunted his “White Lives Matter” shirt at ‘Ye’s latest fashion show.

In case y’all haven’t heard…the WLM shirt is ‘Ye’s latest creation that he was photographed wearing, alongside not only Selah, but also Black controversial conservative, Candace Owens, while at the Paris fashion show.

The back of the shirt reads, “White Lives Matter,” in bold white letters; while the front showcases an image of Pope John Paul II with the message, “We shall follow your example.”

Needless to say, fans have been goin’ off about this ever since– calling Kanye every name under the sun; while also expressing confusion over how the daughter and granddaughter of such pro-Black legends — Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley — has gotten to this point with her seemingly opposing outlook.

Fans were quick to point out Selah Marley in some of the online images that have now surfaced of Kanye’s fashion show:

For the record, fans are not against White lives. In fact, within American culture it’s long been understood that White lives matter – as they should, along with all lives. However, the question has always been whether or not Black lives actually matter in America…given the hundreds of years of continued oppression and systemic racism African Americans face daily on every level. That is why so many fans are perplexed by Kanye’s latest spectacle.

Anywho…not sure how Lauryn Hill, nor Selah Marley’s pops, Rohan Marley (Bob Marley’s son), really feel about Kanye seemingly utilizing their daughter as a walking billboard to get his message across. Maybe…only time will tell.

If you haven’t heard by now…Chaka Khan is never one to censor her words, nor her feelings. If she does not like you, or something about you, rest assured you will either get a funny look from her, or a direct calling out from this living icon. Kanye West is no exception to this fact.

Chaka recently voiced her opinion, yet again, about Kanye’s homage to her, by sampling her song, “Through The Fire,” for his debut single, “Through The Wire.” It turns out, she hated it! However, a move she made with Kanye afterwards has some folks confused.

A few years ago, Chaka told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper this regarding Kanye’s sampling of her song:

“I didn’t like at all what he did with my song because he made me sound like a chipmunk… I didn’t know that he was going to take my vocal and speed it up. I didn’t give him permission to do that and yet the song kickstarted his entire career.”

Fast forward to 2022 — during a recent interview on Fox 5 (video below) — Chaka is still goin’ off about what she hates about Kanye’s sampling of her song. She also said she has zero desire to chop it up with ‘Ye going forward.

Here’s What’s Confusing About Chaka’s Statements

Don’t get me wrong, ’round here at I Love Old School Music…we love us some Chaka…but we’ve also gotta call a spade a spade when we see it.

What’s confusing about Chaka’s continued disdain for the way Kanye sampled her vocals is that she showed up to perform that very song — “Through The Wire” with Kanye in 2004 AFTER he’d already released the song for his “College Dropout” album that same year. ‘Ye’s album released in February 2004…and 6 months later in August 2004, there was Chaka on stage, singing her heart out with him at the 2004 VMA Awards.

So, the question is: What transpired afterwards? Because from the looks of their collaborative performance (below), everything was al good between them.

The Reality Is…

At any rate, let’s be real….we all know that Kanye isn’t always the most likable personality and he sometimes comes across like a jerk to many, BUT that doesn’t negate the fact that the dude is a solid producer/artist.

As phenomenal as Chaka Khan is, the harsh reality is that Kanye will likely reach a broader audience than Chaka by the end of his career…go figure! On the flip side, does Chaka deserves the same amount — if not more — accolades than Kanye? ABSOLUTELY. But unfortunately, the opportunities for today’s artists are different than what they were during Chaka’s era.

So, although Chaka’s point of view about her dislike for Kanye’s song is understandable, we can’t ignore the fact that when Kanye released his 2004 “Through The Wire” single, it reintroduced Chaka to a much broader audience of generation X’ers and Millennials at that time, who otherwise would not have paid as much attention to — or may have missed altogether — her beautiful legacy.

Now, when it comes to Kanye’s questionable political views and whatnot…nah, that’s where I’d suggest the brotha just stick to what he does best – be a creative force for the culture.

Mills Virtually Chin Checks Kanye & Nick Cannon

In an online video (below) -captioned, “My stance on #KanyeWest and Nick Cannon and our culture”-  Stephanie Mills addressed everything from ‘Ye’s mental state, to Nick’s motive for endorsing him.

On Kanye’s mental health:

“I’d like to say a couple of things about, Kanye West and Nick Cannon. First, I know that Kanye is suffering mentally. I know that he is swinging high and low, and I really pray and hope that he gets help.”

She voiced her disappointment and said Kanye is a “distraction”:

“But I must say that I am disappointed because if he’s trying to help our community, but running for President, it’s not helping out our community. He’s not qualified, to be President, neither is the person that’s in the White House at this time.

Kanye is a distraction, and we’re living in some really, really trying times, where we don’t need distractions. What we need is for Kanye to get help. To get on medication, to see a therapist, and to get help. “

Mills then went off on Nick Cannon:

“Nick Cannon, now you? I don’t understand, because I saw you at Pops’ when he gave his speech at his talk, in Chicago not long ago. And then for you to come out and do what you did, like supporting Kanye. What is that? What is that? I don’t understand it. Kanye’s being paid to do what he’s doing, now are we to believe that you’re also being paid to be a distraction? You guys are acting like little boys in a sandbox with toys.”

‘They’re acting like little paid slaves’:

“But being that you’re acting like that, as a mother, I would like to say take your toys, go home, and sit down, and get help and get therapy. Nick you should know better, because you’ve learned and listened to the teachings, so you should know better, ’cause I just saw you. So I just think that, people are losing their homes, people can’t pay their rent, people cannot buy food for their children or their family. We have no time for you two to be out here, acting like little paid slaves, I said it.”

Ms. Mills ended her check session with a peace-filled message:

Not only is Chaka Khan a legendary singer, praised for her powerful voice, she is also one of the most respected artists to ever perform. Her timeless catalog of music has influenced singers, like Mary J. Blige and the late Whitney Houston, and her reach has touched notable hip hop artists as well. One artist, Kanye West, used a sample from one of Khan’s songs for his breakthrough hit, “Through The Wire.” But now, years later, Khan is speaking out against the song. And her response is savage.

Two Certified Classics

During the 1980’s, it was hard to escape Chaka’s enchanting voice, with songs like”I’m Every Woman,” “Sweet Thing” and of course one of her most successful songs to date, “Through The Fire.” A legendary tale about the track, is that Khan sang it in one take! That’s no small feat for any artist, but with someone like Chaka, it’s definitively not hard to believe.

West must have known using a sample from Khan’s catalog would propel him to the front of the line, as one of the best new artists of the time, which it did.

However, the first time Khan heard West’s version, she was not happy. During an appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, when asked how she felt about the song, Khan kept it all the way 100:

“When it came out, […] I was pissed. I thought it was a little insulting. Not insulting: I thought it was stupid! If I’d known he was gonna do that, I would have said, ‘Hell no.’”

Ultimately, Khan didn’t initially express her dislike for the song because she still received royalties for the sample. Hopefully those royalties are still coming in, because she’s going to need them for an upcoming legal battle…

Why Kanye Was Handcuffed To Hospital Bed…
‘Ye stunned the audience when he revealed the time he was recently involuntarily handcuffed to a hospital bed in a mental hospital, as he was in the midst of one of his “hyper-paranoid” episodes:

Kanye- “You feel everyone wants to kill you, you pretty much don’t trust everyone, and they have this moment where they handcuff you, they drug you, they put you on the bed, and they separate you from everyone you know.”

It was a traumatizing experience for Kanye and one that he has now vowed to fight against for others who suffer from mental illness:

“That’s something that I’m so happy I experienced myself so I can start by changing that moment. When you are in that state, you have to have someone you trust. It is cruel and primitive to do that.”

Kanye continued:

“When you ramp up, it expresses your personality more. You can become almost more adolescent in your expression. This is my specific experience that I’ve had over the past two years, because I’ve only been diagnosed for two years now.

“When you’re in this state, you’re hyper-paranoid about everything. Everyone — this is my experience, other people have different experiences everyone now is an actor. Everything’s a conspiracy. You feel the government is putting chips in your head. You feel you’re being recorded. You feel all these things.”

Will Smith’s and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s son, Jaden Smith, proved to be a solid actor years ago, as young child in Pursuit of Happyness with his Pops. However, for Jaden’s latest collabo,’ it may take a whole lot more than just acting skills to please Kanye West, whom he’ll be portraying in a new Showtime series.

Why? Because as ‘Ye has demonstrated throughout the years, he could be a tad egotistical at times and has thrown public tantrums during interviews (hint, hint: his “Sway in the Morning” interview; and his TMZ hissy-fit). Also, let’s not even get started on Kanye’s questionably odd support of his “brother” and idol, Donald Trump.

In spite of all of that, hopefully Jaden will be able to meet Kanye’s standards for the upcoming Showtime series ‘Ye is executive producing, titled Omniverse.

For Omniverse it was only natural that Kanye created a show that is all about him. According to Daily News, ‘The network [Showtime] says the show’s first season “explores the Ego through an alternate reality Kanye West.” Not really sure what that means, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Kim Kardashian’s hubby is cookin’ up.

On a side note, it’s unclear why Kanye chose Jaden to portray him, at least from a physical standpoint. While both are handsome dudes in their own right, they look nothing alike, with their only physical similarities being their height- Jaden is 5’7″ and Kanye is 5’8″.

There are other similarities between the two though. They are both rap artists, with clever lyrics; and they each have eclectic tastes in fashion.

Hot New Hip Hop reports that Kanye is in hot water with a Japanese fabric supplier named Toki Sen-I who is suing him and the Yeezy brand for non-payment. Back in 2015 Kanye and Toki-Sen I did business together when he asked them to create samples for Yeezy sneakers.

After the success of that partnership Kanye contacted them again in 2018, but unfortunately things didn’t go as well as they did the first time. Since Kanye placed a larger order Toki-Sen I required a down payment. This is when things began to go downhill.

They say Kanye never sent them the check, but because they’d done business with him before and didn’t have any problems previously, they went ahead and started production anyway.

Later, Kanye allegedly told the company that he wouldn’t be paying for the fabric that was initially ordered, so they’re suing to the tune of $624,051. In the lawsuit, the company also calls Yeezy Apparel a “shell” and a “sham” because it doesn’t have capital assets or member interest, saying that it only exists so that the rapper won’t be held personally liable.

For his part Kanye doesn’t think the lawsuit is valid and claims that Toki-Sen I never sent the product at all, which is why he never paid them.

“Plaintiff never delivered the allegedly contracted-for product, and Yeezy Apparel allegedly did not pay the full price for that undelivered product,” the paperwork says. “Despite being a basic business dispute between companies, Plaintiff needlessly inflates this case into a 4-count complaint under both tort and contract theories, baselessly including the celebrity member of Yeezy Apparel (Mr. West).”
