Now we should all should know that in order to build someone up, you must not have to tear another person down– apparently gospel artist Kim Burrell missed that piece of advice.

Recently speacking at a church service Kim Burrell shared her feelings about Fantasia possibly being in a movie about Aretha Franklin, while mentionioning Le’Andria Johnson the season three winner of the BET gospel singing competition show Sunday Best and how she prefers her over Fantasia.

While offering support for Le’Andria Johnson, Kim says, “Girl, you got this. You are anointed, you are a chosen of the Lord,” she said about the  36-year-old singer. “The hand of the Lord is upon your life and you’re such a warrior. I was watching her sing tonight and I was just shaking my head. If they’re going to make a movie about Aretha Franklin, if they know a real singer they’ll call you. If they want to do Aretha any kind of justice. Now I like Fantasia, but she ain’t no Le’Andria.”

After those sentiments were voice the aduidence seemed to have a differing opinions. Kim goes on to say, “Why y’all don’t like to tell the truth?” she responded. “Ain’t no way in the world.”

Le’Andria Johnson recently did an Instagram Live video where she let fans know that she was going to a substance abuse treatment facility for 30 days. “I owe it to myself, I owe it to God, I owe it to my kids, my family,” she said in the video. In it, you could see Johnson starting the intake process at the facility, talking with staff, and overall, maintaining a positive outlook despite what she was there for.

Well now that Pastor Caesar has jumped in that water with Burrell, she has quickly learned that the new social media era, is a place where people show no mercy and freely express their views. The 78 year old pastor also now sees that the days of censored television and radio are a thing of the past and that celebrities, just like regular folks, should expect to get backlash when they spread a controversial message in public. That’s just the way it is. However, Caesar is keeping up with today’s fast paced social media era, because she’s now quickly stepping forward to address her prior anti-gay statements, just like Kim Burrell did…

In the video clip Pastor Caesar has just posted to Facebook regarding her recent sermon, she wants people to ‘forget about it’ and ‘leave in the past’ her sermon about homosexuals and about President Obama being the reason for all of the homosexual “stuff.” Check out her explanation below:

The Controversial Sermon:

For those who haven’t heard Kim Burrell’s cringe-worthy rant, the footage has been circulating on social media all week. Although it’s still unclear when the sermon was recorded, people definitely aren’t pleased with her offensive words.

It’s probably safe to say the gospel sensation has lost quite a few fans and many speculate she may have caused serious damage to her career and public image. Now, there’s more bad news and its confirmation that her career is taking a blow because of the sermon.

The Irony of It All:

To make matters worse, Kim Burrell’s rant probably came at the worst possible time. Ironically, she and Pharrell Williams were scheduled to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this coming Thursday. The dynamic duo was set to perform their collaborative hit “I See Victory” which is featured on the Hidden Figures soundtrack.

Shortly after the anti-gay rant made headlines, many wondered how the staff for DeGeneres, an openly gay talk show host, would respond to the offensive statements. Now, they’ve broken their silence and it’s exactly what you may have expected. Kim Burrell’s performance has been given the ax.

Since there was so much chatter about the performance, Ellen took to Twitter and officially shut it down.
