What most of us never knew was that he and Spike Lee figured out that they actually couldn’t stand working together during the filming of Spike Lee’s School Daze and here’s why according to what Laurence Fishburne told Sun Sentinel in a prior interview:

[Fishburne] rolls his eyes when asked about his experience with Lee. “I`m very opinionated, I have a very big ego; Spike has a very big ego, too,”  he says. “I`ve been around for a long time, and I thought I knew more about what he was doing than he did. And, in some ways, I did. But it wasn`t so much that I knew more about what he did — I knew more about what I` was doing, and I made the mistake of telling him that. So we probably won`t work together for another 10 years,” Fishburne says. Chuckling, he adds, “If we work together at all.”

Well get outta here! On camera it looked like all of the actors got along great off screen because of the great chemistry they had on screen, but it sounds like it was hard for Fishburne to take direction from someone he deemed to be far less experienced than him at that time. Dang, he was right- those egos were massive on that set.

I guess Spike Lee eventually extended the peace symbol to Fishburne because he was able to get past his dislike for him when he reached out a few short years later to offer Fishburne the role of “Radio Raheem” in Do The Right Thing. Fishburne was actually Lee’s first choice before Bill Nunn, who ultimately did a phenomenal job with that character.

But Fishburne wasn’t trying to have anything to do with the movie. After he read the script he was like “Hell no!” LOL. Here’s what Laurence said about why he absolutely didn’t like the script for Do The Right Thing:

Fishburne criticized the role for not being real when he said “I’m from Brooklyn too and I didn’t grow up in that kind of Brooklyn. I didn`t like the script, and I didn`t like the part.” -via Sun Sentinel

Many actually speculated that Fishburne’s refusal was less about the role not being ‘authentically Brooklyn’ enough and more about these two factors: (1) because of his beef with Spike; and (2) because Spike Lee didn’t offer him a lead role in Do The Right Thing.

And there you have it folks. Laurence and Spike were not the best of friends on School Daze, unlike the united front their characters had as ‘cousins’ in that film, and Do The Right Thing almost had “Professor Phipps” (Fishburne’s character in Higher Learning) as the “Radio Raheem” character. Now that I think about it, it would have been really different watching “Jason Furious Styles” (Cuba Gooding Jr.’s “Daddy” in Boyz N’ The Hood) or “Morpheus” from the Matrix morph into the role of “Radio Raheem,” but I can definitely see “Dap” from School Daze pulling that character off.

All in all, both School Daze and Do The Right Thing were classics, but the stars just didn’t align for Spike Lee and Laurence Fishburne to work together on the latter. However, the late Bill Nunn played the heck out of that “Radio Raheem” character and I don’t think that either one of the films would have been the same without what Nunn or Fishburne contributed to them.

Sometimes parents may look at the path their child is on and ask themselves, ‘Where did I go wrong?’ After the countless legal run-ins the daughter of legendary actor, Laurence Fishburne, has had…pretty sure that’s what he’s asked himself. Why? Because unfortunately his 27 year old daughter, Montana Fishburne -a retired adult film star and exotic dancer- has just added a new legal problem to her life and now police are on high alert for her whereabouts.

Montana Fishburne’s Latest Legal Trouble

It’s just been reported, by The Blast, that a judge issued an arrest warrant for Montana Fishburne on September 5, 2018. After she violated her probation in several ways, police were ordered to ‘arrest her on sight’ and haul her into the courthouse.

So what did Montana do this time, you ask? Well, according to reports, she dodged her random drug test, left the state without permission, and more…

Via TB: The court docs filed in Fishburne’s criminal case accuse her of violating her probation. Specifically, Montana is accused of leaving her county of residence without court approval on August 23, 2018. They claim that she traveled to New York to visit her family.

Laurence’s daughter is accused of also failing to submit to a random blood and urine test last month. The docs also note that she is currently in an outpatient program in West Palm Beach.

This comes approximately seven months after Montana, a reportedly recovering alcoholic, was given a break by the judge, following her embarrassing DUI arrest.

Past Urinating Police Dash Cam Fiasco

This latest legal problem is just another one added to her ever-growing list of troubles. In fact, the probation she recently violated stems from her March 11, 2017 arrest, when Montana was taken into custody after rear-ending a Range Rover on I-95 near Fort Lauderdale. That night, police found an open bottle of wine in her Toyota Corolla. Her blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit (at .18) and she failed her field sobriety test. The police dash cam footage showed a seemingly drunken Montana Fishburne squatting on the side of a highway in front of police officers and passers-by, urinating next to the cop cars. Needless to say, that video went viral at rapid speed and Laurence Fishburne was shamed again.

Prior Sentencing & Public Shaming

There have been other brushes with the law before Montana’s latest arrest warrant. In 2009, she was arrested for prostitution and there was a 2010 arrest for battery and false imprisonment.

Also as we previously reported, Montana was found guilty of property damage, stemming from her March 2017 accident. However, on Feb. 9, 2018, she entered a plea of ‘no-contest’ for the DUI and was placed on probation for the next 12 months. She was given a laundry list of rules to adhere to.

She was ordered to attend Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) meetings, complete a course at DWI school, and go cold turkey on alcohol and all other intoxicants. Montana was to also be subjected to unannounced breath and urine tests to ensure that everything remained on the up and up regarding her sobriety. Montana’s driver’s license was also suspended.

Her probation demands didn’t stop there though. In addition to the aforementioned orders, the judge also ordered Montana to perform 50 hours of community service. By the way, her Feb. 2018 court appearance came on the heels of a another stint in rehab. Three months prior, in November 2017, she’d entered treatment at Wavelengths Recovery in Huntington Beach, Ca. to try to get herself together.

Sadly, that rehab attempt failed, but hopefully she’ll be able to officially kick her habit in the current court mandated one she’s in now. That is, once the judge finds her.

It’s unclear if at this point Montana needs a hug from her Daddy, whom she once stated was embarrassed by her past adult film career, or if she needs even tougher legal punishment to get her mind right once and for all. Whatever the case, we wish Montana the best.

The entire 22-minute arrest was captured on police video including Montana urinating on the side of the road. The footage went viral when it was released. Montana said in a prior interview that she hoped her porn tape would make her famous like Kim Kardashian and lead to more mainstream acting roles. But all of her videos have made her infamous. Hopefully this sentence will be a fresh start for the young woman.

Wife’s New Announcement About Their Marriage

When that news first broke earlier Wednesday (9-19-17), it raised red flags among many of their fans, because up until now most thought their marriage was all good. Turns out they were wrong. Now that the kissing pictures have surfaced, Fishburne’s wife has made an official announcement after 14 years marriage and one child together (L. Fishburne also has two other kids):

As well as raise each other up with respect and love and the continued understanding that we’re in this together, if not side by side.”

Last Time They Were Seen Together

Man, this is unfortunate…it was all good just a year ago.The last time they were seen in public together was in December 2015 and attended public events solo ever since. Although in January 2016, Gina still referred to Fishburne as her husband in an interview. However, by September 2016, Gina told The New York Times she’d left the legal drama TV show, Suits, after six years because “my personal life needed to be tended to.”

Now unfortunately, we know what Gina Torres was referring to. I wonder if we’ll ever see her and Laurence Fishburne work together again though. From 2013 to 2015, they played a married couple in the NBC show, Hannibal. They also starred alongside each other The Matrix Reloaded. Guess, we’ll have to sit back and see about that.

The footage shows Montana in a somewhat cheerful state and talking nonstop to the cops. It then shows her pulling away from the officer to lift her dress up, as she was still handcuffed, and climbing over the railing of the highway to squat and urinate as the officers stood there waiting for her to finish.

During the arrest, Montana told the officer that she’s been arrested before and that because Trump is in control, that the officer should have a little understanding of her plight, being that he was also a minority, which she presumed to be of Mexican heritage. The officer repeatedly tried to reason with her throughout the video and get better understanding of the many things she was saying as she kind of jumped from topic to topic.

It was clear to see that Montana was obviously full off of that feel-good-juice, so to speak. In the police report, it stated that Montana rear ended a Range Rover, after the Rover  slowed down to avoid another crash. Both responding officers stated they’d smelled a strong stench of alcohol on her breathe and in her Toyota Corolla. They also reported that she had an open bottle of wine and wine stains in her car.

Montana eventually complied to take a breathalizer test and blew a .18 and .17 test result. However, Florida’s legal limit is .08.

The thing that also stood out about the dash cam footage is that throughout all of her rambling, not once did Montana try to pull the “My daddy is a multi-millionaire superstar, so y’all better stop playing” card. She simply took her loss on the chin and kept it moving. So at least she gets a brownie point for that. BUT, as far as her behavior and her drinking while driving, which could have killed somebody, including herself…zero brownie points earned for that one Montana.

I’m assuming that after Laurence told his daughter he was ashamed of her for becoming a porn actress (which Montana publicly revealed he’d said a while back), this recent arrest only adds fuel to that fire.

Hopefully Ms. Fishburne gets whatever help she needs -whether it be emotionally, or from Alcoholics Anonymous, or psychologically, or simply a big unconditionally loving hug (without judgement) from her concerned father…I just hope she gets it soon. She’s only 25 and has a whole life full of opportunities ahead of her. Wishing Ms. Fishburne the best.

However, for about the past two years or so, she pretty much lived a more quiet life without getting into trouble, but now she’s facing some serious jail time this go ’round.

Details Of Her Drunk Driving Crash

Many of y’all may recall the story we shared from The Black Loop at the time of Montana’s early March (2017) arrest for DUI charges. Her police report was long as hell after she’d rammed her Toyota Corolla into the back of a Range Rover, while apparently hella drunk in the middle of the night on a Fort Lauderdale, Florida highway.

The police report stated that the Range had pressed their breaks to avoid a prior accident on the highway and at that point Montana ran into the back of it, causing massive damage to her car, but thankfully she wasn’t hurt.

The officer wrote, in the report, that Montana’s breathe had a strong alcohol smell when he stepped to her car; that she was “incoherent” when walking around the crash scene; that she’d bent down and urinated on the shoulder of the highway while city personnel were standing nearby; and also that he’d “noticed an open bottle of wine on the rear left floor, and the two front seats were splashed with a purple liquid with a strong odor of alcohol,” in her car.

The report also had Montana’s alcohol level listed as .177 and .181 on the breathalyzer test. Florida’s legal limit is .08.

Montana was arrested for a D.U.I. (driving under the influence), spent one night in jail, and bailed out on a $2500 bond.

The Amount Of Jail Time Montana Fishburne Is Facing

Fast forward to today (4-2-17) and needless to say, Montana has now officially been charged with several offenses and is facing jail as her new home for about one year. Here are the charges:

Via MailOnline: They include DUI (Injury/Property Damage) (Enhanced), DUI (Injury/Property Damage), DUI (Enhanced), Driving Under the Influence.The office filed enhanced charges due to the amount of property damage and her high B.A.C. [blood alcohol count]. Florida law states that if Montana is convicted of a DUI with property damage she faces up to a year in jail, her driver’s license being revoked, a $1,000 fine, substance abuse classes and 50 hours of community service.

A while back, Montana revealed, in an interview, that her father was ashamed by her actions and her career as an adult entertainer:

“He told me he was embarrassed by me,” Montana admitted to The Hollywood Reporter.

Listen, it’s easy for those of us on the outside to judge the ‘superstar actor with the porn star daughter.’ But it’s also easy to see that we’re witnessing a young woman who may be battling some deep inner struggles (this reportedly isn’t her first brush with the law) and probably needs help, love, and a hug, more than she needs nonconstructive criticism. So I’ll simply end this by saying that whatever Laurence Fishburne and his daughter are going through, I sincerely hope they’ll find a peaceful understanding with one another soon.
