Most of us woke up this morning to learn about the tragic Las Vegas shooting by 64 year old Stephen Paddock. It left 58 people dead and 515 injured in the largest single mass shooting in U.S. history. The horrific incident unfolded as country singer, Jason Aldean, was headlining the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on late Sunday night. However, many people began learning about it throughout the morning hours of Monday.

Just about an hour after the shooting happened, Mariah Carey, like many, had yet heard about it. So GMB host, Piers Morgan, decided to tell her while they were on live TV. Mariah was there promoting her upcoming UK Christmas concert when Piers hit her with the shocking news. He asked for her thoughts on the tragedy, but because Mariah didn’t know about the shooting, she tried her best to respond. She was clearly stunned by the tragic news and was almost at a loss of words.

Via TooFab: “I mean, it’s just what everybody’s gut reaction would be, which is this his horrible and I pray for the victims. Have they caught the shooter yet?” [Mariah said to Piers, who then proceeded to give her a few details about the shooting]. … “Wow, that’s awful. Again, I pray for the victims and I hope all this can stop as soon as possible,” a shocked Mariah said. “This type of thing happening anywhere is a huge tragedy, so I continue to pray for the victims and hope we have an end to this as soon as possible. … “I really don’t know what to say,” she added before Morgan wrapped up the interview. … A representative for Carey has not yet returned TooFab’s request for comment.

Piers Morgan Responds To The Heat

Piers eventually took to Twitter to explain his intentions, revealing that he’d asked Mariah’s team if it was okay to ask her about the tragedy. But in the interview, he stated to Mariah, “I know you weren’t aware of this before, being that you’ve just come on air. But what is your immediate reaction…?”

If what Morgan is saying is true, then there was a clear lack of communication somewhere, because Mariah said she was not aware prior to.

The Investigation Into Vegas Shooter

At this point, authorities are still investigating the motives of the now deceased Stephen Paddock’s mass murder attack. He had no criminal history, was a White senior citizen Nevada resident and is being described, by law enforcement, as not fitting the typical profile of a mass murderer.

Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the victims who were killed and we send healing energy and well wishes to the hundreds who were wounded.

Most of us, Old Schoolers, know the history of Mariah Carey’s marriage to Sony Music’s head executive, Tommy Mottola. They married in 1993, when Mariah was 24 and Tommy was 44. They divorced in 1998 and Mariah later referred to Tommy as having been emotionally abusive, controlling and revealed that she was “miserable, crying, and alone” throughout the marriage.

After their marriage was a wrap, Mariah continued to capitalize off of the career that Mottola was largely responsible for building. She went on to sell many more millions of albums and needless to say, Mottola reportedly was not feelin’ that.

Irv On How Mottola Got Revenge Against Mariah

To back up that claim, Murder Inc. Records founder, Irv Gotti, has just revealed what Mottola did to try to sabotage Mariah’s career. In a recent interview with ‘Desus & Mero,’ not only did Irv expose Mottola’s shut down of Mariah, he also gave insight into why Mariah has been throwing so much shade at Jennifer Lopez. In 2001 -three years after Mariah and Tommy divorced, Murder Inc. was dominating the music game. Therefore, Tommy Mottola used their success to get back at Mariah, by boosting then music newcomer, Jennifer Lopez and pairing her with Ja Rule:

Irv Gotti: “[Mottola] calls me because he found out me and [Ja] Rule made a record with Mariah Carey. At the time, he hated Mariah Carey, so he was pumping Jennifer Lopez to compete.”

Irv says Mottola then asked him to record and promote a Jennifer-Ja-Rule duet instead.

“Immediately when he said that, I was like, ‘This [ni&&a]! He knows we just did this sh*t with Mariah and he’s trying to f*ck Mariah,’” said Gotti.

But that’s not all though, see what else Irv Gotti exposed about that situation in the video clip below, starting at the 2:13 mark (contains graphic language)…

“I’m Real” ended up being a mega-hit and Murder Inc.’s Mariah Carey duet was pushed to the side.

Dayumn! I knew Michael Jackson called Tommy Mottola “the devil,” but apparently, Tommy’s alleged payback toward his ex-wife, Mariah, seemed kinda devil-ish too.

It’s A New Day For Mottola

Ironically though, when Mariah became a trending topic at the start of 2017- after her disastrous New Year’s Eve performance in Times Square- it was Tommy who came to her defense. In a letter to PageSix he defended her against the flack she caught for throwing a diva-tantrum live on the Times Square stage, after her lip synching vocals didn’t play:

Via The Telegraph: “Everyone should just get off her back and leave her the hell alone, [Mottola] wrote in a letter to PageSix.com. “Hopefully she will find her way to the right professionals for guidance. It’s never about the fall, it’s all about the recovery. […] None of these issues or problems ever existed with her in her early days at Sony.

In his letter, Mottola also criticized the pop star’s new reality show Mariah’s World. “I would never have encouraged her or guided her to do something like a reality television show!!!!! I don’t get it!!” the 67-year-old wrote. […] That does absolutely nothing for her integrity, her credibility, or her massive talent!! She should take a step back, think carefully and figure out what to do next.”

I guess Mottola’s reported “hate” for Mariah has subsided. Like the Old School saying goes: Time heals all wounds.

We love us some Mariah Carey, here at ILoveOldSchoolMusic. She’s a helluva singer and her diva-like persona is always entertaining. So with that said, let us show you all why folks are getting a good chuckle off of her this Monday.

Ms. Carey has never been one to break a sweat on stage…that’s a task she leaves up to her dancers. BUT, at some point in a live show on a Las Vegas strip, one must put forth a little effort to keep the crowd hype.

Welp, people, guess what? In a recent performance that has just surfaced online, Ms. Carey made it clear that she was just NOT in the mood to move all that much, therefore, she didn’t. However, she did move, it was minimalism at it’s finest. In addition to that, y’all know fans weren’t gonna let that ride, so they were quick to point out the awkwardness in her choreographed movements with her male dancers, who had to lift and sway her to and fro.

Why People Are Surprised Nick’s With Dark Skin Black Woman

So here’s the situation: First off, everybody and their Mommas were shocked as hell to see that Nick not only has a fully Black girlfriend, but a beautiful dark skin one at that. We gotta keep it real with y’all and point out that none of us should act like we don’t know why many folks are shocked. Based on Nick’s public relationship history, many assumed he wasn’t attracted to dark skin women.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with Nick, nor anyone else, having a preference in their mates, this is just an observation that anyone within the general public can see:  His past girlfriends/wife/fiancee have either been Latina (his youngest son’s mother, Brittany; and singer, Christina Milian); Armenian (his ex, Kim Kardashian); or else it seemed that Nick mostly preferred light skin and/or biracial Black women (ex-wife, Mariah, who’s African American/Irish/Venezuelan;  ex-fiancee/Victoria Secrets model, Selita Ebanks, who is of Caymanian/Jamaican decent).  But here he is today…

The Reason Lanisha & Nick Had To Defend Her Title

After word surfaced, a couple days ago, that Nick is now dating a Black woman, blogs, websites, and fans alike were all talking, as we still are now and understandably so.

Apparently, Lanisha and Nick didn’t like the way one site described her, by calling her a “regular Black” girlfriend. Lanisha responded on Instagram and Nick backed her up in the comments section on her page, by referring to her as a “Queen”…awww. Check out their exchange below…

Nick’s Latina Baby Momma Throws Shade?

Then came the obvious shade…or maybe just a coincidental Instagram post (side eye). Many of y’all may recall when Nick’s baby momma/former Miss Columbia beauty pageant winner, Brittany Bell,  gave birth to their son, Golden, in February 2017. All throughout Brittany’s pregnancy, both she and Nick made it crystal clear to the public that they were not together, but were fully committed to co-parenting their child. Nick also stated, in an interview, that he and Brittany never actually dated, but were cool friends. That’s what makes the timing of her Instagram photo and caption suspiciously shady-ish. Soon as the story broke about Nick and Lanisha being a ‘thing,’ Brittany posted this on the same day…

As of now (7-6-17), everything on Nick’s Instagram has been deleted for, except for one photo. He’ll probably be back up and running again once this baby momma drama blows over. Congrats to him for finding companionship with his new lady though. Wishing Nick, Lanisha, Brittany, and Mariah the best in what so far seems to be quite a journey for the four of them.

Mariah Carey done did again…according to her fellow acting peers. We love us some Mariah, ‘Ms. Butterfly’ can sang like nobody’s business, but we also gotta be real and point out that this is not the first, second, nor third time any of us have heard about her having a few attitude issues. This time, she’s getting called out by comedic actor, Cedric Yarbrough, for reportedly cuttin’ up on the set of The House, a new film starring he and Will Ferrell, which Mariah too was set to appear in.

Just one day after Will Ferrell politely let the cat outta the bag about Mariah’s diva-like antics on set- in his Late Night With Seth Meyers interview- Cedric let his Facebook fingers do the talking in an online rant about Ms. Carey.

Ferrell first revealed to Meyers that Mariah’s scenes didn’t make the cut, due to some unsavory behaviors. Apparently Mariah caused problems and had all of the cast and crew waiting on her for hours, only to allegedly show up and show OUT on set. Check out what Cedric Yarbrough had to say about this…

Cedric Yarbrough Goes All The Way Off On Mariah

“Okay since Will Ferrell is talking, I’ma talk-ing,” wrote Yarbrough. “Yeah, a real funny cameo was SUPPOSED to happen in the new film #TheHouse with the superstar Mariah Carey. But it was ruined by superstar Mariah Carey. The film takes place in a suburban home but is made into a ‘Casino.’ Why not have Mariah be an act in the casino? Funny idea. It’s rumored that she eventually showed up to set. This is true. But after waiting for her for 3-4 hours!”

He wasn’t done though. He then proceeded to rip Mariah for what he says were her rude demands:

“While we waited the director & team had the idea of doing a stunt that Mariah’s body double would do now & bring in Mariah to match it,” said Yarbrough. “They do the stunt. All goes well. When Mariah finally showed up she refused to match the stunt. ‘Darling, I would never do it that way…’. I heard her say those exact words. She then requested a large fan for her hair to be blown around and a camera that would be above her, basically a crane shot.”

Yarbrough also claims that wasn’t the “worst part” about Mariah’s behaviors, although he didn’t go into detail. He also stated that she “was unprofessional & borderline abusive to our director, who tried his best to appease her every wish.”

He then explained why he decided to publicly put Mariah on blast and that is to help the new actors in the game, by showing them what not to be; and also hoping this would teach Mariah a lesson:

“In the acting community, it’s not very good form to ‘tell’ on your fellow actors. They could be having a bad day, going through some personal things, & maybe Mariah was, I don’t know. But I do know that our crew didn’t deserve that, our director didn’t. Hell, I’d just come off shooting 10 HOURS on ‘Speechless’ just to get there and wait. This kind of behavior just isn’t cool.”

“For you young actors, be on time, know your homework, but be courteous and respectful. For us old heads, the same,” he advised. “This kind of behavior should be called out for what it is. I miss ‘I had a vision of love’ Mariah. Be a damn professional.”

And boom! Yarbrough drops mic…exits stage left.

Mariah Carey has just learned that one of her biggest fans was sadly among the 22 victims killed at pop singer, Ariana Grande’s, concert in Manchester, England.

Monday, May 22, 2017, was a sad day for London, and the rest of the world as we all watched the aftermath online and on TV that showed thousands of young people running for their lives out of the Manchester Arena. When a suicide bomber detonated his nail bomb at the end of Arana’s concert, he left 59 injured and 22 dead, including kids as young as eight years of age.

On Wednesday (5-25-17), it was confirmed that Mariah’s mega-fan, Martyn Heck, was unfortunately among those who didn’t make it. Martyn was a 29 year old internet sensation, who’s made appearances on television in the UK, where he’s from. Anyone who followed him online knew all about his love for Mariah Carey because he oftentimes posted memes and pics of her. His Twitter bio even read “My life peaked when I met Mariah Carey,” referring to the time he’d gotten to meet Mariah.

Mariah Carey’s Tribute To Fan:

In honor of Martyn’s memory, Mariah took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a photo of him smiling and wearing a T-shirt with her photo on it. Her caption read:

“Devastated to learn that one of the victims in Manchester was part of the #Lambily. RIP Martyn Hett. We will cherish your memory forever. His family and all the families affected are in my thoughts and prayers. MC.”

Martyn Hett is survived by his boyfriend, Russell Hayward, his Mother, and many other people whose lives he touched with his upbeat personality and entertaining internet videos. May Martyn and the other 21 Manchester victims, rest peacefully. Our deepest condolences to their families and our thoughts and prayers are with the 59 injured survivors as well.

We’re sending prayers up and well wishes to Lionel Richie (67) today. Word has just gotten out that he has had to cancel his major upcoming tour with Mariah Carey, ‘The All Hits Tour 2017,’ due to complications from his knee surgery. Apparently he had the surgery recently, which was supposed to have healed up in time for the tour. But at the last minute, it’s been reported to have caused problems for him. Below are the rest of the details:

Via TMZ: Lionel Richie’s knee is recovering and his 35-show concert tour with Mariah Carey has been put on hold…TMZ has learned. We’re told Lionel had a preexisting knee problem that was causing him pain and he underwent surgery last month. We’re told there were complications and the injury did not heal correctly so Lionel is still recovering. He and Mariah were scheduled to hit the road March 15 in Baltimore. There were 35 shows in all, including Chicago, New York, Boston, Detroit and the Hollywood Bowl. Our sources say the concert has now been postponed and will start in the Summer.

By the way, Lionel Richie’s and Mariah Carey’s ‘All Hits Tour 2017’ tour was highly anticipated and highly grueling on the joints of a 67 year old. It was scheduled for 35 shows in just 12 days.

Even though Lionel Richie is in top notch physical health, he’s still pushing 70 and no matter what- dancing around stage, rehearsing, and traveling nonstop, will take it’s toll on any 67 year old at some point. That’s just the way it is.

Sending positive energy to Lionel Richie, hopefully he makes a full recovery soon.

Nick announced the birth of their son, Golden “Sagon” Cannon, on Instagram today ( 2-22-17), but Golden officially made his grand entrance into the world on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

If you missed our previous article on Nick and his surprise kid (at least to the public he was, but not to Nick), Nick was kickin’ it with the mother of his son, Brittany Bell, for a minute. Unfortunately things between them didn’t work out, but Nick never left Brittany’s side throughout the pregnancy. They’ve remained friends and plan to equally co-parent their son, just like Nick is successfully doing with Mariah and their 5 year old twins, Morrocan and Monroe…

Brittany Bell is a pageant queen who has competed in Miss Universe pageants and others throughout the years and she is of African American, Native American, and West Indian descent.

For most of her pregnancy she and Nick stayed shied away from taking public photos together, or being seem with each other at public events. Probably because they aren’t a couple and didn’t want to send mixed signals to their fans. However, about a week ago, they posted a pic of themselves at the baby shower cheesin’ from ear to ear looking like the proud parents they are:

Most of us Old Schoolers remember C+C Music Factory’s 90’s classics, “Gonna Make You Sweat” and “Things That Make You Go Hmmm.” But if you’re like some of here at ILOSM, you may not have known that the Grammy award winning, multiplatinum selling group lost one of it’s founding members, David Cole, at a very young age.

If you recall, C+C Music Factory’s first album, “Gonna Make You Sweat,”- which featured David’s music partner, Robert Clivillés, as well as rapper, Freedom Williams, and singers, Zelma Davis, and Martha Wash- had huge success in the U.S. and abroad. Their second album in 1994, was a different story though, it barely made the Billboard charts and fans didn’t flock to the stores for it, like they’d done previously. Throughout that time, the public was unaware that David Cole was very sick. Check out the shocking details surrounding his death…

Mariah Carey make have had a tough 2016 and a rocky start to 2017, with first her fiance’ calling off their engagement and then her disastrous New Year’s Eve performance, but she was just blessed with a helluva consolation price to help soothe her pains and embarrassment.

Word on the Old School curb is that Ms. “We Belong Together” along with singer Elton John, got paid what has probably been her biggest payday for one single gig so far this year (or probably in her entire career). Apparently a Russian billionaire made it rain on ’em with a whopping $4.2 million dollar payday for his granddaughter’s wedding reception.

The singers raked in $4.2 million after a Russian billionaire, Valery Kogan, footed the bill for his granddaughter’s wedding over the weekend in London. The astonishing 9 hour reception at The Landmark hotel featured Mimi dedicating “We Belong Together” to the new couple.

The bride — 19 year old Irene Kogan — and her hubby requested Mariah’s appearance. She was flown in from the U.S.

Sir Elton John kicked things off with an impressive 12 song set. And listen to Mariah … she sounds fantastic. Antonio Banderas also was there.

That was a much needed bounce back for Mariah and I’m pretty sure Elton John enjoyed that payday to add to the rest of his multimillion stash as well.
