Malia went ALL the way in during a performance by the rock group, The Killers.

It’s cool to see that there is obviously diversity within the Obama’s household- her Pops loves him some Al Green, Kendrick Lamar, Aretha Franklin and Jay Z. While Malia loves her some The Killers, Bryson Tiller, and Mac Miller.

MICHELLE OBAMA PRESSURED WALMART TO STEP THEIR GAME UP

Another example of that power being put to good use, is her ongoing efforts to pressure major food providers across the country to create much more affordable, healthy options at cheaper prices.

For example, in recent years, Walmart has consistently broadened their healthier food items and aren’t charging folks an arm and a leg for them…we can thank Mrs. Obama and her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign for that.

WALMART’S 2011 MESSAGE ABOUT MICHELLE’S AFFORDABLE HEALTHY FOOD PUSH

“We applaud First Lady Michelle Obama’s leadership and commitment to this important cause,” said Leslie Dach, executive vice president of corporate affairs at Walmart. “Few individuals have done more to raise awareness of the importance of healthier habits—especially among children—than she has. She was a catalyst that helped make today’s announcement a reality and her spirit of collaboration made our commitment to bring better nutrition to kitchen tables across this country even stronger.”

Walmart will reformulate key product categories of its Great Value private brand and collaborate with suppliers to reformulate national brands within the same categories by 2015. The effort is designed to help reduce the consumption of sodium, sugar and trans fats, which are major contributors to the epidemic of obesity and chronic diseases in America today, including high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. The reformulation initiative includes three components:

•  Reduce sodium by 25 percent in a broad category of grocery items, including grain products, luncheon meats, salad dressings and frozen entrees;
• Reduce added sugars by 10 percent in dairy items, sauces and fruit drinks; and
• Remove all remaining industrially produced trans fats (partially hydrogenated fats and oils) in all packaged food products.

That’s when it turned into an impromptu b-day celebration for Malia for a few minutes as well. Malia has now had what only 42 other sets of kids have: a B-day celebration at the White House by the 43rd president, her dad.

Obama has made it widely known that his current favorite rapper is Kendrick Lamar (Good choice Mr. President, Kendrick is the TRUTH!), so it was only right that he called up Kendrick and had him do his thing to show the military families and his daughter a good time.

Janelle Monae also worked her magic on the White House stage. But the President put the icing on the cake when he gave a surprise happy birthday performance to Malia.

Before Pres. Obama sang Happy B-day, he said:

“Because it’s a job of fathers to embarrass their daughters, I’ve got one last job. It just so happens we celebrate our country’s birthday on the same day as my oldest daughter’s birthday, so just a quick Happy Birthday for Malia.”

Malia will be attending Harvard University after taking a one year hiatus. Harvard is the same university her parents attended and we can’t wait to see what Malia will become in the future. Are we looking at a future president in the making? Hmmm…only time will tell.

Noted Prince fan — and president of the United States — Barack Obama paid his respects to the singer in the aftermath of his death at age 57 Thursday.

The president posted to Facebook, “Today, the world lost a creative icon. Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince. Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer.

“‘A strong spirit transcends rules,’ Prince once said,” Obama added. “And nobody’s spirit was stronger, bolder or more creative. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his band and all who loved him.”

Last summer, Prince played alongside Stevie Wonder at a private party at the White House for the Obama family and about 500 friends and supporters.
