Aaron is 32 years old now, and some of you may recall seeing him on VH1’s “Sweet Sixteen” reality series in 2005, where his parents lavished him with gifts and threw an expensive birthday party, where some of the most popular rappers at that time performed- Kanye West, Swizz Beats, and Jermaine Dupri. Jay-Z and Puffy also attended.

Well, fast forward to today and Aaron is determined to build his own name without leaning on his parents’ legacy and he’s now flourishing in his career, or shall we say- careers…

He has a few, beginning in 2013 he was an A&R at Epic Records (the label his Pops was once the CEO). In case you don’t know, an A&R gig is one of the most revolving door gigs in the music industry. A&R’s get fired all the time because as soon as they don’t find the next hot artists that the label can successfully make money from, the label looks for the next A&R. So Aaron’s multi-year year span as an A&R is pretty impressive. Why? Because regardless of if his dad was running the company or not, Aaron still had to prove that he deserved to be there, by bringing the right artists to the table. However, these days, Aaron is reportedly a producer and A&R for Hitco Music.

Bad Boy Records owner, Puffy, is Aaron’s godfather, and Aaron even gave Puff a run for his money once when he stepped up his A&R game to successfully win over an artist who both he and Puffy were trying to grab.

An A&R’s pay ranges from about 27K a year, to as high as about $175K per year. Their salaries depend on many factors. Aaron’s A&R salary combined with the fact that he’s a professional singer, songwriter, and producer, means that he is standing on his own and doesn’t need Mommy and Daddy to cut him a check every month. Isn’t that every parents dream eventually?

A few years ago he had a budding single titled “Crazy Luv,” but he seems to have put that on that project on the back burner for now. Check out his 2011 video below, which his sister, Ashley (Pebbles’ daughter), co-directed with him.

Aaron said this about stepping outside of his parents’ shadow and he says that he takes his dad’s advice to heart everyday:

“Every day I think about what he told me as a kid, ‘You gotta do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do,’” he says. “I take that every day, think about it and apply it.”

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN PEBBLES CAUGHT L.A. REID & PAULA ABDUL

In L.A. Reid’s book, “Sing To Me,” he let a whole bunch of cats outta the bag about their past drama-filled marriage. One of them is when L.A. says Pebbles had already suspected something was up between he and Paula Abdul when they worked on a song together. But Pebbles flipped out when she later caught them at his house, so says L.A. Reid:

L.A. Reid- “We asked if [Paula] would choreograph a music video for Kenny  [Babyface] … and she said she would trade us for a song. We wrote ‘Knocked Out’ for her and we took [her] into Studio Masters, where it took a long time to cut her vocal. … We didn’t work on the [Paula] album — Pebbles saw to that…

BUT THEN THINGS GOT UGLY…

“Paula and I started to be friendly. We didn’t have a relationship, but one night Paula came to my house and it was after midnight. Thanks to L.A. Reid’s memoir, ‘L.A. Reid: Sing To Me,’ we now know that his marriage to “Mercedes Boy” singer, Pebbles, was filled with drama, screaming matches, cheating allegations and of course, love. And after you read what L.A. revealed about a dispute involving the beloved Whitney Houston, himself, and Pebbles, you can add jealousy to that list as well.

PEBBLES WAS READY FOR ATTACK AFTER L.A. TOLD HER THIS…

According to L.A. Reid, one day Pebbles found out that Whitney was spending the night at her and L.A. Reid’s house while she was out of town. BUT, Pebbles was like ‘Nuh-uh, NOT TODAY!’ There’s far more to it than that though…check out what L.A. wrote:

Whitney came back to Atlanta one week later and she knocked out these two songs like they were nothing—pow, pow—only now we were used to it. She came back a third time to do some fixes. Aaron had been born and Pebbles was out touring behind her new album. Whitney called from her hotel to tell me her room had been broken into and she felt uncomfortable at the hotel. Could she use the guesthouse? She showed up with her manager and running partner, Robyn Crawford. It was late. I put on a movie in the theater to watch and the phone rang. It was Pebbles, who quickly became upset when she learned Whitney was there.

“Whitney’s in my house?” she said. “We’re not having that. My husband is not going to sit in my house late at night watching a movie with another girl.” I tried to explain, but she threw a tantrum and I started to get angry. I told her she had nothing to worry about, this was completely safe, platonic, and just us musicians. I got loud and Whitney overheard.

“She’s trippin’, huh?” she said. Whitney offered to leave, but I told her my responsibility was to take care of her and everything would be fine. “I don’t want to be in the middle of y’all’s mess,” she said.

Pebbles kept calling back and finally I took the phone off the hook. I was embarrassed. I pride myself on being a professional. I was starting a business, and was now working with—and entertaining—major celebrity superstars. I didn’t need this bullshit. Whitney went to the guesthouse to sleep.

The next day, Pebbles came home and had attitude with me. She tried having attitude with Whitney, too, but Whitney put out that fire in, like, two seconds. I don’t know what she said, but everything quickly was cool. For those who don’t know, R&B singer Cherrelle is actually Pebbles’ cousin. That’s right. The Detroit, MI native known for memorable hits like “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On”, “Where Do I Run To”, “Everything I Miss at Home” is one of Pebbles’ first cousins. Talk about talent! But, the famous family ties don’t stop there…

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! CHERELLE HAS ANOTHER R&B CUZ…

During an interview with Freddy O., Brandy D. of the group Blaque revealed Cherrelle is actually her aunt. When asked who inspired her musical career, she mentioned Janet and Michael Jackson but also shared little-known facts about her family’s ties to the music industry.

“With my family I was so lucky to tour at a young age with my aunt Cherrelle, she had hits in the 80s and 90s. She toured with New Edition so I was able to experience that when I was young. My father was also a part of a band where he sang and my grandfather is one of the Miracles so I was just so blessed to be surrounded by music coming up.”

Cherrelle also has a well-known SISTER in the entertainment world and they look a lot alike!

However, there’s more. Cherrelle’s sister has also made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She’s none other than Marvel Britto (pictured above with Cherrelle). For those who don’t know, Britto is the President/CEO of The Britto Agency. She also works as a TV, film and theater producer. Over the years, The Britto Agency has worked with a number of top clients including Payless, Motorola, Mariah Carey, and athletes Gary Sheffield and Stephon Marbury.

It’s quite obvious hard work and success runs deep in this family!
