The legendary Helen “Sade” Adu has always been known for giving us timeless R&B classics and also for her sensual appeal. She’s also known for living an extremely reclusive lifestyle, far away from the public’s eye. When it comes to her 27-year-old transgender son though, the two couldn’t be more different in that respect. Izaak initially shocked the world a few years ago, when he announced he was making a transition toward living as a man. What made his transition even more shocking for many, is that he was once known as Sade’s beautiful, feminine looking daughter, who rocked skirts, lipstick, and long weaves. So needless to say, for millions of Sade’s fans, Mickailia “Ila” Adu’s seemingly rapid transition into Izaak caught them all of guard.

Fast forward to today though and it’s cool to see that despite what anyone thinks, Izaak is living life for himself, and doesn’t give a damn about what anyone has to say about it. In fact, he’s been sharing his transgender journey thus far, with the world online. Like we said, when it comes to living life out loud, him and his moms are exact opposites.

Sade’s Son Confesses His Struggles With Being Transgender

A while back, we reported that many have wondered exactly how Sade feels about her new son, she never spoke out about it. But in one online post, Izaak has now shared, he made it very clear that he has the full support of his mother and many other loved ones. He also confessed that even with their support, he still has some struggles with being a transgender man. Izaak (who once went by the name caracalonbenzos on social media) posted a two part confessional online and captioned it with a notice to those who apparently thought he assumed that ALL -not some- transgender people struggle with their identities:

The 62-year-old R&B legend, Sade Adu, has lived her entire career as somewhat of a recluse. So much so that her friends, nicknamed her ‘Howie’ back in the day, which was short for Howard Hughes-the billionaire businessman who was a well-known recluse with obsessive compulsive disorder.

Because of the “Cherish The Day” songstress’ private life, many never knew about the time she got arrested and banned from an entire country for about 4 years! Turns out Sade and her then boyfriend/father of her child, Bob Morgan (a Jamaican music producer), had a real life ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ moment with Jamaican police.

Sade started dating Bob in the 90’s and in an effort to connect with her daughter’s and her man’s Jamaican side, Sade moved to Jamaica for a while. On February 27, 1997, the “Is It A Crime” singer committed a ‘crime’ when she ‘smoothly operated’ her vehicle in, what police described as, a high speed chase. Yep, you read that right, Jamaican police reported that Sade was driving with her man in the passenger seat, and when police tried to stop her for speeding, she sped up in an alleged effort to lose them. Long story short, they eventually caught her vehicle and arrested her on site for reckless driving and for cursing them out like a sailor.

Sade failed to show up to three different court dates for the case, which then prompted the judge to ban her from the country until 2002, or arrest her on sight if she were to ever return prior to then.

Sade later stated that the officers fabricated their story and arrested her because she refused to pay them a “bribe” fee to let her off the hook. Lawd, if we could’ve been a fly on the wall in that Jamaican car!

Coming Out

It’s an understatement to say that most folks were shocked when the then 21 year old daughter (who’s now 24) of the iconic Nigerian born singer, Sade, and Bob Morgan — a Jamaican-American music producer — came out as a transgender man.

Of course, the identity switch was shocking in itself. However, what made it even more shocking was because it wasn’t long before that, that Mickailia “Ila” Adu- who now goes by the name Izaak Theo- went from rockin’ long weave, lashes and red lipstick, to growing a full beard, a mustache and acquiring a much deeper voice. That was due to the hormones and transitional process Izaak began in recent years.

The Transformation

Shortly after revealing that she was transitioning from ‘she’ to ‘he,’ it was also announced that Izaak had decided to remove both of his breasts in his mission to make his outside reflect who he was on the inside.

Needless to say, the topic of the ever so reclusive Sade and her far more outgoing transgender son, Izaak, has been the talk of millions of Sade fans. Although many have wondered exactly how Sade feels about her new son, she never spoke out about it.

Sade’s Transgender Son Now, And His Professed Hardships

Fast forward to now, and Izaak has now shared his experiences with being transgender in several online posts.

Totally Inaccurate?

When someone tried to challenge Izaak’s statement by pointing out that he was totally inaccurate and that not all transgenders having the above mentioned issues, here’s how Izaak replied:

It’s always a beautiful thing when those who may be deemed as being outside of the ‘societal norm,’ can find their inner strength and support from those who love them unconditionally.

Although some may not agree with Sade’s son’s decision to transition from female to male, no one can deny that Izaak’s decision took a lot of guts. Izaak (who goes by the name, caracalonbenzos, on social media) posted a two part confessional online and captioned it with a notice to those who apparently thought he assumed that ALL -not some- transgender people struggle with their identities:

Of course, being a transgender male is who Izaak Theo is, but it is not ALL that he is. One little known fact about the young brotha, is that he’s an artist. Nope he’s not a musical artist, like his moms, Sade, and Jamaican-American music producer pops, Bob Morgan. However, Izaak is nice with a pencil and easel. Coming Out

It’s an understatement to say that most folks were shocked when the 21 year old daughter of the iconic Nigerian born singer, Sade, and Bob Morgan, a Jamaican-American music producer, came out as a transgender man.

Of course, the identity switch was shocking in itself. However, what made it even more shocking was because it wasn’t long before that, that Mickailia “Ila” Adu- who now goes by the name Izaak Theo- went from rockin’ long weave, lashes and red lipstick, to growing a full beard, a mustache and acquiring a much deeper voice. That was due to the hormones and transitional process Izaak began in recent years.

The Transformation

Shortly after revealing that she was transitioning from ‘she’ to ‘he,’ it was also announced that Izaak had decided to remove both of his breasts in his mission to make his outside reflect who he was on the inside.

Needless to say, the topic of the ever so reclusive Sade and her far more outgoing transgender son, Izaak, has been the talk of millions of Sade fans. Although many have wondered exactly how Sade feels about her new son, she never spoke out about it.
