Former “The View” talk show host and attorney, Star Jones, announced her plans to marry last year. At that time, her engagement seemed to be out of the blue because most folks didn’t even realize she was in a relationship with hr man, Ricardo Lugo, until then. That wasn’t the only news that has some gasping, regarding the newlyweds. In a recent online message, Star sadly discussed the precious loss they experienced.

Star Pays Beautiful Tribute To Husband & The Loss They Exprienced

In June 2018, Star shared video (above) of her and Ricardo’s June 2018 wedding, while also wishing Ricardo a Happy Father’s day, on Instagram, and thanking him for bringing his son, Jake, into her life:

Star Jones: “Happy Father’s Day Love Of My Life @ricardolugochicago! I never dreamed I could be this happy, be this content and feel so completely loved. Notwithstanding those absolutely gorgeous diamond earrings you whipped out this week “just because” you thought they would look good on me…your greatest gift to me is without a doubt is the blessing of motherhood. As I said during our wedding vows, “I may not have given Jake the gift of life but life surely gave me the gift of him. I wasn’t there for Jake’s first steps, but I’ll be right there beside you both for all his next steps.” This was my solemn vow and promise to you and to Jake then…and I vow it again now.”

Along with that beautiful tribute to her husband and stepson, she celebrated the life of their dog, whom she was extremely attached to:

“This year has brought us together as a family through our marriage. And although we lost our sweet baby girl Pinky, we both know she saw and felt the same love I see and feel…or she wouldn’t have left this earth. She left me in good hands my love. She left me with her Papi.

Ricardo. you’re so much more than my ‘husband.’ You’re a partner in my life that I value more than you know. You’re the father of our son and I’ve watched how much you love him and he loves you. She continued:

It’s beautiful to see Star finally happy and in love again. After her last marriage to Al Reynolds and painful divorce, it seems like Ricardo is a breathe of fresh air for her. Wishing them many years of marital bliss.

Star’s Wedding

Star was smiling from ear to ear, on Sunday, March 25th, as she exchanged vows with her fiance,’ Ricardo Lugo. The ceremony took place on a cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas, in the Bahamas. “Yesterday was my birthday…and today is our wedding day at sea! Our #AnthemToLove has officially begun on the #AnthemOfTheSeas!” Star wrote in an Instagram caption on her big day.

Ricardo is also an attorney, who was previously employed as an assistant’s state attorney for Chicago, Il Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office last year. He has one son from a previous marriage, who seems to love his new step-mother.

Many of y’all may recall when Star popped up with Ricardo by her side in October 2017, seemingly outta nowhere, and announced their engagement. That surprised her fans, who had no clue she was even in a relationship. The surprise was due to the fact that Star was usually known to share much of her love-life in public, but as we previously reported, she was intentionally keeping her new man under wraps:

“He’s wonderful. I’m happy and that’s all anybody outside of my family needs to know,” Star told US Weekly.

After her last highly publicized marriage to Al Reynolds, which ultimately turned into a disastrous media circus, Star has made it clear she will not be letting the public in on her relationship with her new boo-thang much at all. Good for her.

Her Celebrity Friends Were There

Star’s wedding was a small ceremony, but was filled with many of her celebrity friends. Her best friends, actresses, Vanessa Bell Calloway and Lele Rochon, were there. Her other close friends were there to rep’ for their girl too- Tina Knowles Lawson (Beyonce’s and Solange’s mother), actress, Holly Robinson-Peete and one who actually caught many by surprise- Ms. Phaedra Parks, the fired ‘Real Housewife of Atlanta.’ Mrs. Lawson also posted a pic, honoring her friend’s marital bliss on Instagram:

It Was A Double Celebration

Star and Ricardo’s wedding wasn’t the only thing the newlyweds were celebrating though. Their big day was part of a multiple-day birthday getaway for Star, who did it real big for her 56th trip around the sun. She posted several photos and videos of her shindigs online.

In her first b-day post, Star was gleaming when she spoke into the camera and said, “You know you’re happy when your kid says at lunch, ‘Stop smiling you’re going to break your face.” To clear up the confusion, no, Star doesn’t have any kids of her own, but it seems that she’s referring to her new stepson.

Downsized From Last Wedding

This go round, Star decided to turn things waaaaay down, in comparison to her first wedding n 2004, when she and Al Reynolds -who came out as bisexual in 2017- went ALL the way out for their vow exchange.

Remember that? The ceremony was beautiful and extravagant, taking place at Saint Bartholomew’s Church in New York, NY. There were five hundred guests in attendance and the bridal party included three matrons of honor, twelve bridesmaids, two junior bridesmaids, three best men, twelve groomsmen, three junior groomsmen, six footmen, four ring bearers, and four flower girls. Star and Al’s marriage lasted only four years, but hopefully second time’s the charm for Star.

Their Past Marriage & His Past Denial

Before we get into Al’s big revelation, let us take a trip down memory lane with him and Star. The year was 2004 and Star Jones was at the height of her career. Al Reynolds was a Wall Street banker. They reportedly dropped a whopping $1 MILLION on their wedding, only for their marriage to crash n’ burn quicker than one can say “I am delivert!” By 2008, they divorced amid rumors that Star was fed up with Al’s lack of work efforts and mooching off her money. Al’s alleged gold-diggin’ ways were never officially confirmed neither of them.

Throughout their marriage, gay rumors plagued Al Reynolds. Eventually the brotha must’ve gotten tired of people talking about him, so in 2008, he did a television interview, adamantly denying that he was “gay”:

“I am not a homosexual…it’s really kinda upsetting to me that, that is where people would go, as it relates to my sexuality. […] If anyone knew the damage that it has caused me, they would understand why I’m very aggressive about this.”

Al Reynolds Bravely Comes Out: “Today, I accept myself as a bisexual man.”

Although Reynolds tried to deceive the public in 2008, it turns out he was partially telling the truth with his ceative world-play- he’s not “gay,” his actually “bisexual.” That’s what he’s now revealed in his new RadarOnline interview. Here’s part of what Reynolds said:

“I have come to a point in my life where I am ready to discuss my truth. I wasn’t ready to do this then — I wasn’t even ready to think about it, let alone process it. To understand my journey and how I got to this point, you need to understand a little about me.

I am the youngest of six children in a Southern Baptist family. We grew up in a three-bedroom mobile home in Horsepasture, Virginia. We were deeply religious. […] Life was not nuanced or frivolous, nor did it allow any time for introspection. It was clear and proscribed, black and white, angels or sinners. […] As a black man, that message and the hate and homophobia were multiplied to the nth degree. I saw no path out that would resolve my personal feelings with my deeply held and ingrained religious beliefs.

Today I accept myself as a bisexual man. I have learned that sexual orientation is not binary, at least for me. I am capable of loving both sexes, and I have done both. My relationships, all of them, have been honest and based on my attraction to the other person. When I am in love I don’t equivocate, nor do I waver. I tell this story to both encourage my personal path, as well as give some small measure of hope to others that no matter your beginnings, no matter the obstacles, there is nothing so fulfilling and Godlike as living the life that was destined.”

Although his sexuality is no one’s business, we applaud Al Reynolds for finally having the courage to stand in his truth.
