The father of Salt N’ Pepa legend, DJ Spinderella (50), and Basketball Wives star-turned-actress, Tami Roman (52), is grateful to be alive today, after suffering a serious health scare that took quite some time for him to recover from. Many of you may remember 14-year NBA star, Kenny Anderson, who at the height of his career was in a public relationship with Spinderella and later married Tami.

Both relationships ended in shambles and left lingering bitterness and pain for all involved, including their kids. Before we recap their drama, let’s first get into Kenny’s health scare and recovery.

In 2019, Kenny Anderson (51) was hospitalized after having a stroke. At that time, his wife, Natasha Anderson, thanked fans without giving many details:

It was later reported that Kenny has high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but had stopped taking his meds, which somehow triggered the stroke.

Months after his stroke, Kenny Anderson is still on his road to recovery and attending rehabilitation sessions to get his body back to it’s prior state. But as you can see, the brotha is coming along just fine, thank goodness.

His Tough Times

Via Undefeated: This is…the Kenny Anderson who was sexually abused as a boy, whose mother dealt with the demons of drug and alcohol addiction, who lost most of his NBA fortune and declared bankruptcy in 2005, who fathered seven children with five women, and who lost a high school coaching job in Florida after a 2013 DUI arrest.

His Current Job
Kenny once had a $63 MILLION fortune and admittedly blew most of it on cars, champagne, partying, etc. “I lived a fast life,” said Anderson, “and enjoyed every bit of it.”

Today he’s the men’s basketball coach at an HBCU, Fisk University.

When Kenny applied for the job, Fisk president, Kevin Rome, leaped at the opportunity to have him join the staff and give the school’s struggling enrollment a fighting chance, as well as give Kenny a second chance:

“I knew his story and the challenges he has faced, and one of the things we pride ourselves on at HBCUs is that we give people second chances. … “We don’t make the assumption that because someone has challenges that they don’t have value. With [Anderson’s] fame and skill set, I think he can transform our program and take it to a new level of competitiveness. Meet Kenny’s Kids With Spinderella And Tami Roman & Their Past Drama

Kenny & DJ Spinderella’s Era
Deidre “DJ Spinderella” Roper and Kenny had daughter, Christy, in 1992. Spin’ had her issues with Kenny when they dated in the early 90’s, but she mostly kept them behind closed doors. There was, however, one publicized incident according to Undefeated- they once angrily ‘splashed champagne on each other during actor Wesley Snipes’ birthday party at a Manhattan nightclub.’

Tami Roman & Kenny Anderson’s Marriage
Kenny married Tami in 1994, had two daughters (Lyric and Jazz), and divorced in 2001. Tami says he had multiple affairs (including one with her BBW co-star, Evelyn Lozada, before the two ladies ever met) and TWO babies with mistresses during their union. Tami was left broke and on welfare assistance because they’re pre-nup left her without one red cent.

Tami and a few of Kenny’s other four baby mommas have reportedly publicly blasted him in the past for not taking care of his children.

Kenny once made an appearance on “Basketball Wives” with Tami, after allegedly not having seen their daughters in ten years, at that time.

“Basketball Wives” star/comedian, Tami Roman, has us over here shouting “Tell ’em Tami!” at the top of our lungs this Labor Day. As we reported earlier, news recently has spread like wildfire that actor, Geoffrey Owens a.k.a. “Elvin” from “The Cosby Show,” is now working as a cashier and bagger at Trader Joe’s. Now Tami has a few choice words for those who are attempting to shame the brotha for earning an honest living – and we stand with her on this.

Customer Who Photographed Geoffrey Owens Felt Bad For Him

Last week a fan, named Karma Lawrence, photographed Geoffrey Owens at a Trader Joe’s store in New Jersey and shared the pics online. He was ringing up her groceries and she expressed sadness and surprise for the former “Cosby Show” star to Daily Mail:

Via DM- “I was just in Trader Joe’s and I said to my wife, I said, ‘Wait a minute, that’s the guy from The Cosby Show’,” [Karma Lawrence stated to Daily Mail]. “I have never seen him at Trader Joe’s before. I was getting a bunch of groceries and he wasn’t really looking at anybody, but he said, ‘Have a nice day.’ It made me feel really bad. I was like, ‘Wow! All those years of doing the show and you ended up as a cashier. … I would have thought after ‘The Cosby Show’ he would maybe be doing something different. Other fans would be surprised as well.”

Needless to say, Karma’s photos went viral after thousands of fans realized the cashier was really “Elvin”- “Sondra Huxtable’s” husband on “Cosby.” The comments ranged from “OMG how did he end up there?” and “I feel so sorry for him,” to insensitive as hell laughing face emojis and ‘LOL’s.’ Then, there were many other folks who respected the fact that Geoffrey Owens was humble enough to hold his head high and earn an honest living.

Tami Roman has now taken to social media to obliterate Fox News and any others who are out here acting like Geoffrey has anything to be ashamed of. Here’s part of what she said in her Instagram video:

“Apparently a cell phone caller took some video of the man bagging some groceries at Trader Joe’s. SO THE F*CK WHAT?!! He was doing what he needed to do for his family and Fox News, with they’re messy a$$es, instead of positioning their story in a way that is indicative of what LABOR DAY -because it’s Labor Day weekend- what it stands for. Because of contributions and achievements of American workers, they tried to shame the man. […] Get the f*ck outta here Fox News…that man is honorable, respectful, has dignity.”

Many Other Actors Defend Geoffrey Owens

Tami wasn’t the only one “riled up” over the attempted shaming of Geoffrey. So were many other actors.

Lately, Mary Mary gospel group singer, Tina Campbell, hasn’t been a fan favorite, due to her recent political confession. Earlier this year, Tina felt the need to reveal she voted for Donald Trump and now, months later, she revealed that she boldly stands by her decision. Of course, her confessions sparked outrage all over social media. Since then, she’s faced backlash from fans and other celebrities. Now, Basketball Wives reality star and actress, Tami Roman, is the latest celeb’ to share her opinion of Tina’s political Trump train.

The Basketball Wives star recently posted a new video on Facebook and her latest ‘Bonnet Chronicles’ discussion was about Tina Campbell. Tami is wondering the same thing other people are wondering: What on earth was, and is, Tina thinking?

“I do respect Tina though because she came out and admitted that she voted for the man, because some of y’all voted for him and you don’t want to be honest about it and admit it’s a sinking ship, but she did,” Tami began.

The Figurative ‘Shackles’:

Tami went on to mention the “shackles.” Of course, we all know its the title of a hit song by Mary Mary. However, when it comes to Trump, many of us also know his “Make America Great Again” mission has seemingly become a subliminal reference to some different “shackles”- the ones African American were subjected to during slavery. Each time Trump mentions his infamous slogan, most Black people can’t help but think about what he really means. By “making America great again,” it seems Trump is focusing on re-establishing the slave era’s presumed ‘superiority’ of White citizens.

Every other day, Trump says something to make his sentiments known one way, or another. Therefore, Tami wants to know how on earth did Tina miss those “shackles”? Tami went on to question Tina Campbell’s definition of “Christian” values. Although the gospel singer claims to have voted for Trump ‘because of his Christian values,’ Tami couldn’t help but think of those suffering in Puerto Rico, when Trump turned a deaf ear to their cries.

“How could she miss the shackles, chile? ‘Cause that’s how I feel with Donald Trump in office,” Tami said. “They said she said, ‘She related to his good Christian values.’ But I say, sis, Puerto Rico been sitting in the dark for the past week with no water and no food. What’s God-like and Christian-like about that?”

Tami’s clap back comes days after Tina’s confession. As we previously reported, during a recent chat with The Root, Tina opened up and explained why she’s supporting Trump. “I was faced with two presidential candidates that I really did not approve of,” she said. “And so I had to find something, a commonality with one of them, that would make me feel like if I have to vote, I should utilize my right to vote. Since I don’t prefer either of them, what can I find that would make me vote? And some of Donald Trump’s views on Christianity, honestly, is what caused me to vote for him.”

With the way things are goin’ for Trump, Tina will probably end up having ‘buyer’s remorse,’ just like many other Trump supporters are starting to admit.
