Things were seemingly all good just a week ago…but fast forward to present-day, and the loving marriage of Tina Knowles-Lawson and her husband/actor, Richard Lawson, has gone from good to non-existence, apparently.

It’s now been discovered that Mama Tina a.k.a. –Beyonce’s and Solange’s moms– has just filed divorce papers as of Wednesday, July 26, 2023. And get this…she listed the date of separation as Tuesday, July 25, 2023, sighting “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her divorce request. This comes after the soon-to-be ex-lovebirds’ eight years of marriage and two years of dating prior to.

According to reports, Tina is asking the judge to deny any potential requests for spousal support from both sides. She’s also reportedly requesting that her name be legally changed from Celestine Lawson (Celestine is her first name since birth name), to Celestine Knowles- the same surname as her ex-husband/father of her kids, Matthew Knowles.

Many Fans Shocked…Some Not, Here’s Why

To some, Tina’s latest divorce filing isn’t a shock. However, for most of Tina’s and Richard’s fans the divorce news is on ‘I-know-you-lying!!’ levels. And there are valid reasons for both.

For those who aren’t surprised about the divorce filing, it’s likely due to the months-long speculation that some of Bey’s most devoted fans began stirring up after realizing that not only hadn’t they seen Richard and Tina together in any photos in recent months; but they also noticed that Tina was attending her daughter’s “Renaissance Tour” alone lately…a move that’s apparently out of character for the Lawson couple. There’s more…

In a June 2023 post, Richard Lawson shared a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, which read, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. — Ralph Waldo Emerson” Richard captioned the post with, “One of my favorite quotes. Emerson is a genius. #wisdom #empower #selfrespect #selfreminder.”

After peepin’ his post, one fan asked Richard why he wasn’t “overseas” attending the European leg of Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour” alongside his wife, who was already there having a blast:
“Why aren’t you with Mrs. Tina overseas? Concerned fan.”

Richard replied back to let the fan know everything was supposedly ‘good’ with he and the Mrs.:

“@crms*** I’m doing a series here in LA and working on my film. Thanks for your concern. It’s all good.”

By June 5, 2023, more fans took to Richard’s Instagram to voice their concern:

“Where is Ms. Tina? I never see pictures of you two together anymore,” one fan wrote…which the prompted another fan to reply, “I was thinking the same.”

As if Richard’s and Tina’s mixed signals weren’t already confusing enough…then came even more confusion. After neither of them have shared photos of themselves together online in months…just a week prior to the divorce filing on July 17, 2023, they made a rare appearance together at the LA Premier of actor, Glynn Turman’s, documentary, “The Life Of Glynn Turman”…and they looked happy as hell together!

Their LA outing seemingly shut down the prior separation rumors altogether. But clearly, that move was just a ‘happy front’ for the cameras, because obviously ‘everything ain’t all good’ in their marriage. If it was, then Tina Knowles-Lawson wouldn’t have jetted over to divorce court to legally tell Richard *in the words of her daughter, Bey’* ‘To the left, to the left…everything you own is in that box to the left’…well, not in those exact words of course, but y’all catch my drift.

Hopefully they’ll be able to patch their marriage up in due time…but if not, wishing them a stress-free, amicable divorce process.

It’s one thing to be the mother of the biggest R&B star of today’s generation, but it’s a whole OTHER thing to be homegirls with one of the most powerful women on the world, Mrs. Obama! That’s exactly what it seems for Tina, especially after the way the two of them ‘partied like it’s 1999′ on Sunday (July 15, 2018).

It all went down at Paris’ Stade de France, while Beyonce’ and Jay Z were performing “Let Me Upgrade You,” among other hits at their concert. Fans were shocked as hell to notice Mrs. Obama, her two daughters -Malia and Sasha- and Malia’s boyfriend, casually stroll up to their VIP seats. Well, if you call being escorted by plain clothed Secret Service agents ‘incognito,’ then, yeah that’s about as incognito as it’ll even get for them. Anyways, the former first fam’ linked up with Tina Lawson right next to the stage in and apparently, one of their favorite songs is “Upgrade,” because as soon as it came on Michelle and Tina started gettin’ their two-step on.

For the first time ever, Beyonce’s and Solange’s dad, Mathew Knowles, has shared photos of his secret wedding to his wife on their 5th year anniversary. A while back, we informed y’all that while his ex-wife of 31 years, Tina Knowles-Lawson, had just started dating her now husband, actor Richard Lawson, Mathew was already happily married right up under the public’s noses. The one difference between Tina’s and Mathew’s wedding was that Bey’ and Solange only attended one of them, that’s neither here nor there though. What is important at this moment, is that we send a big congratulations to Mathew and his beautiful wife, on hitting the 5 year mark.

Many folks didn’t think they’d last for various reasons- their age difference, their quick courtship, etc.- but Mathew proudly boasted that he’s happy he proved their naysayers wrong. In two new social media videos, Mathew shared stood in front of a photo of his wife, as he delivered a message to his fans about their upcoming vow renewal and anniversary romantic getaway:

“We leave today to go on our anniversary…on our sixth year anniversary- although some people only gave us six months. … It’s an incredible, loving 5 years. And we’ll share some of that with you, we’ll renew our vows.”

When Mathew Finally Confirmed Secret Marriage

In April 2018, Mathew finally confirmed what we told y’all several years ago- that he’s secretly been married to his wife for years. When he appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” to discuss his latest autobiographical book, “Racism From The Eyes Of A Child,” Wendy brought up his new wife, Gena Charmaine Avery. Mathew seemed slightly caught off guard, but he decided to finally tell his truths:

“Uh…most people dint even know I’m married, it’ll be five years in a few months.”

Wendy also asked Mathew if his new wife fit the same mold that his beloved mother trained him to like as a youngin’: a non-brown, nor no-dark skinned woman with, and I quote, “nappy hair.” Again, Mathew was put on the spot, but didn’t back down, simply answering with, “She’s a beautiful woman” and we couldn’t agree with him more on that.

More About Mathew Knowles’ Wife

Gena is a realtor and they were engaged in 2011 (the same year Mathew and Tina divorced), ultimately marrying on June 30, 2013. At the time, Matthew (now 66) was 61 and Gena was 48. Their wedding did NOT come without some behind the scenes family tension apparently…

Why Bey’ & Solange Skipped The Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Knowles are clearly “crazy in love, like Jay-Z and Beyonce.’ However, apparently on Mathew’s and Gena’s wedding day, Mathew’s eldest daughters’ didn’t seem so “crazy in love” with the idea of witnessing their Pops exchange vows with his new bride. How so? Because Beyonce’ and Solange pulled a no-show for Mathew’s wedding, later reportedly stating they had prior engagements they couldn’t break (yeah, okay).

But there may have been another minor factor as to why the two Knowles sisters weren’t too thrilled about Gena’s and Mathew’s wedding. You see, Gena isn’t either of the 2 baby mommas Matthew acquired in 2010, when he was still married to Bey’ and Solange’s mother, Tina.

During the time of Mathew’s 2013 wedding, there were still whispers around the industry, that his extra-curricular activities toward the end of his marriage, still had a strong, pungent taste in his daughters’ mouths. So them boycotting the wedding out of animosity for their dad at that time, wouldn’t be far-fetched, IF that were the case. THANKFULLY, today they are all in a MUCH better space and have moved passed any family drama.

(I do not like the term stepmother or stepchildren) whom I choose to call My Bonus Children because bonus means an unexpected plus or added extra. They are amazing unexpected plus. So no shade in this posting, only my attempt to educate and give you my point of view.”

They stopped in their old neighborhood at a beauty supply store, as Beyonce’ filmed her Momma shopping for four satin hair bonnets for them to keep their hairdo’s on point later that night.

Now, for those of you who aren’t familiar with satin bonnets, they’re a must-have beauty staple for many Black women who want to make sure that there hairstyle tomorrow, looks just as good as it did today, and their men know not to EVER question them about why they’re wearing it to bed…not unless their trying to sleep on the couch for a few days, LOL…

Okay now back to Bey’s and momma Tina’s beauty store run- the employees there were surprised that they just randomly strolled up in the place like they were average Annies, but other than that, they had a pretty peaceful trip…no one seemed to bother them. After they exited, Beyonce snapped a pic of Tina outside of the beauty store holding up her H-town hand sign and Tina posted it to her Instagram page with the caption:

“It went down in H- Town my town ! Hanging at the Solid gold beauty supply❤️ my baby took this photo ❤️She done good😀”

Then later that night Bey did her thing and killed it in her gold bodysuit singing about “Lemonade” and everything else at the New Orleans Superdome! The place was packed, the crowd was hyped and Momma Tina was getting her dance on all night!
