Things were seemingly all good just a week ago…but fast forward to present-day, and the loving marriage of Tina Knowles-Lawson and her husband/actor, Richard Lawson, has gone from good to non-existence, apparently.

It’s now been discovered that Mama Tina a.k.a. –Beyonce’s and Solange’s moms– has just filed divorce papers as of Wednesday, July 26, 2023. And get this…she listed the date of separation as Tuesday, July 25, 2023, sighting “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her divorce request. This comes after the soon-to-be ex-lovebirds’ eight years of marriage and two years of dating prior to.

According to reports, Tina is asking the judge to deny any potential requests for spousal support from both sides. She’s also reportedly requesting that her name be legally changed from Celestine Lawson (Celestine is her first name since birth name), to Celestine Knowles- the same surname as her ex-husband/father of her kids, Matthew Knowles.

Many Fans Shocked…Some Not, Here’s Why

To some, Tina’s latest divorce filing isn’t a shock. However, for most of Tina’s and Richard’s fans the divorce news is on ‘I-know-you-lying!!’ levels. And there are valid reasons for both.

For those who aren’t surprised about the divorce filing, it’s likely due to the months-long speculation that some of Bey’s most devoted fans began stirring up after realizing that not only hadn’t they seen Richard and Tina together in any photos in recent months; but they also noticed that Tina was attending her daughter’s “Renaissance Tour” alone lately…a move that’s apparently out of character for the Lawson couple. In a June 2023 post, Richard Lawson shared a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, which read, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. — Ralph Waldo Emerson” Richard captioned the post with, “One of my favorite quotes. Emerson is a genius. #wisdom #empower #selfrespect #selfreminder.”

After peepin’ his post, one fan asked Richard why he wasn’t “overseas” attending the European leg of Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour” alongside his wife, who was already there having a blast:
“Why aren’t you with Mrs. Tina overseas? Concerned fan.”

Richard replied back to let the fan know everything was supposedly ‘good’ with he and the Mrs.:

“@crms*** I’m doing a series here in LA and working on my film. Thanks for your concern. It’s all good.”

By June 5, 2023, more fans took to Richard’s Instagram to voice their concern:

“Where is Ms. Tina? I never see pictures of you two together anymore,” one fan wrote…which the prompted another fan to reply, “I was thinking the same.”

As if Richard’s and Tina’s mixed signals weren’t already confusing enough…then came even more confusion. After neither of them have shared photos of themselves together online in months…just a week prior to the divorce filing on July 17, 2023, they made a rare appearance together at the LA Premier of actor, Glynn Turman’s, documentary, “The Life Of Glynn Turman”…and they looked happy as hell together!

Their LA outing seemingly shut down the prior separation rumors altogether. But clearly, that move was just a ‘happy front’ for the cameras, because obviously ‘everything ain’t all good’ in their marriage. If it was, then Tina Knowles-Lawson wouldn’t have jetted over to divorce court to legally tell Richard *in the words of her daughter, Bey’* ‘To the left, to the left…everything you own is in that box to the left’…well, not in those exact words of course, but y’all catch my drift.

Hopefully they’ll be able to patch their marriage up in due time…but if not, wishing them a stress-free, amicable divorce process.

It has been revealed, in the aforementioned biographies, that the reportedly REAL mother of Marvin Gaye III is actually actress, Denise Gordy, 71 (pictured below), the niece of Berry Gordy and Marvin Gaye’s then-wife, Anna Gordy. Denise was said to be just 15 years old at the time of Marvin III’s birth in 1965, which means Marvin Gaye risked being jailed for statutory rape, had anyone found out back then.

They say you can always tell how stressed a person is by how ‘aged’ they are. What we didn’t realize though, is that she’s not the only gorgeous senior citizen in her fam.’ The other day, Mama Tina shared a few photos of her glamorous big sisters, and even SHE couldn’t get over how beautiful and youthful they still are. In her posts, she shared her 92 year old sis,’ Selena, and captioned the photos with this message:

Y’all already know Bey’ shut it down and she made history by becoming the first African American woman to headline the Coachella festival. It’s a shame it took 18 years, since Coachella’s inception, for a Black woman to get that opportunity, but hey…we’ll just focus on the positive for now…and the fact that none of the past Coachella headliners probably crushed that stage the way Beyonce did. In edition to Beyonce’ and Solange making their marks in the word in a major way, their moms is making a mark in hr own way as well, by giving back to the community. She and her husband/actor, Richard Lawson, opened their new WACO Theater Center in Los Angeles, Ca. last year (2017) and it’s been on and poppin’ ever since. Their latest event was for the mother’s and young women in the community and Mama Tina showed that she is very hands on with the event:

For years, we’ve been watching Bey’ rock her signature weaves, much like we witnessed Diana Ross do in all her glamorous wonder-weave glory back in the day. Beyonce’ has always maintained a fly, long length weave for her fans to admire, with the exception of that one time in 2013. In case you missed that, we’re referring to the time that she either chopped her hair off, into a beautiful pixie cut…or she was wearing a pixie cut wig- Beyonce’ never confirmed which one it was.

But, that brings us to Mama Tina’s post and the mixed reactions she’s getting, as a result. In a new Instagram post, Tina shared a photo of Beyonce’s real hair, which stunned many. You see, in that photo, Beyonce was wearing her hair in a ponytail, which spanned the length of her back, and if she were to take her hair out of the ponytail, it would then add a couple more inches, reaching her waistline.

This was apparently a big deal to many. Why? Because many fans loved her hair growth, while many others people felt that Black women cannot grow their hair that long- which is a VERY inaccurate assumption. Then there were other folks who believed that Beyonce’s hair couldn’t possibly be real, because it was in that short pixie cut in 2013 (assuming that was her real hair at that time).

The Facts Beyonce’s & Tina’s Naysayers Are Overlooking

The thing that some overlooked though, is the four year span, plus the phenomenal hair care routine Beyonce probably has, with her world class hair stylist, Neal Farinah, who helps her retain her length. Speaking of which, even Neal had to speak out in Bey’s and other Black women’s defense, regarding the hairgrowing myth and weaves:

It’s also been statistically proven that the average hair growth rate for most people (regardless of race), is one half inch per month. That equates to 6 inches per year and 24 inches in four years- the same length of time it would have taken Bey to grow her approximately 20-24 inches of her length since 2013.

Sure we’ll be the first to admit that we oftentimes get sick n’ tired of hearing Bey’ on the radio every hour on the hour, but that’s irrelevant as it pertains to her hair. Therefore, since we’ve calculated those apparently much needed hair growth stats, can we now let Bey live and be great in all her honey hued, waist length, natural hair glory? Just sayin.’

Philando Castile’s mother, Valerie Castile, went completely off in a Facebook video she painfully captioned, “F— the police,” the day after her son’s killer was acquitted of all charges seemingly because he wore a uniform and badge.

As Ms. Castile, continues to grieve and deal with the lack of respect the system clearly has for her child, Tina Lawson expressed her grief, in unity with her, in a lengthy Instagram message the day after the non-guilty verdict was read on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

As the mother of two beautiful Black women and the grandmother of four beautiful Black grandbabies, Tina’s pain- like all African American mothers- cuts deep. She connects with the blatant disregard of another innocent Black life taken at the hands of a trigger happy police officer who seems to see Black skin as target practice and not simply as a race.

We agree with Tina on all levels. It was great seeing the wide array of races and cultures standing together in the wake of Philando’s killer’s acquittal. And any human being who watched the Facebook live video of Officer Jeronimo Yanez’s heartless and unwarranted slaughtering of Philando, but turned a blind eye to it, is either racist, soul-less, moral-less, or a combination of all three, just saying.

Rest in peace Philando Castile- a father, a son, a boyfriend to his child’s mother…and in his last hours, he was a fully complying, innocent victim of ‘riding while Black.’ It’s a damn travesty that in 217 we’re still asking Marvin Gaye’s 1971 question: “What’s Going On?”

Now, for those of you who aren’t familiar with satin bonnets, they’re a must-have beauty staple for many Black women who want to make sure that there hairstyle tomorrow, looks just as good as it did today, and their men know not to EVER question them about why they’re wearing it to bed…not unless their trying to sleep on the couch for a few days, LOL…

Okay now back to Bey’s and momma Tina’s beauty store run- the employees there were surprised that they just randomly strolled up in the place like they were average Annies, but other than that, they had a pretty peaceful trip…no one seemed to bother them. After they exited, Beyonce snapped a pic of Tina outside of the beauty store holding up her H-town hand sign and Tina posted it to her Instagram page with the caption:

“It went down in H- Town my town ! Hanging at the Solid gold beauty supply❤️ my baby took this photo ❤️She done good😀”
