In yet another Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tupac revelation that kinda surprised many fans, it’s been revealed that Jada reportedly turned down a role in the 1995 film, “Dead Presidents,” due to her close friendship with the late rap legend.

Larenz Tate – who, as y’all know, starred in the movie – shared details about Jada’s decision in an interview with HipHollywood.

Larenz Tate Revealed This Information

Jada Pinkett-Smith and Larenz Tate during their promotion of the film, “Girls Trip”

Larenz explained that during a conversation on the set of their film, “Girls Trip,” in New Orleans, he brought up the topic of Jada turning down the role. “We’re on set in New Orleans talking about that experience,” Larenz explained. “I said, ‘I talked to the Hughes brothers and you were supposed to be in the movie.’ And she says ‘I was.’ She was like, ‘I couldn’t do it because, at the time, I was really close with 2Pac and 2Pac had this beef with the Hughes brothers.’”

At the time, Tupac had ongoing issues with the Hughes brothers, who directed “Dead Presidents.” Jada’s loyalty to her quote unquote friend made it difficult for her to work with the directors. The feud between ‘Pac and the Hughes brothers started during the filming of “Menace II Society” and escalated to a straight up fist-fight, according to “Menace II Society’s” star, Tyrin Turner, who confirmed that fun-fact in an interview on Vlad TV.

Tyrin Turner and Larenz Tate in “Menace II Society”

And it’s no secret that Jada and Tupac shared a deep bond. Even after his untimely death, their friendship remained intact. Jada’s decision to prioritize her loyalty to Tupac over her acting career shows just how bonded their supposedly non-intimate friendship really was.

Question

Tupac with Jada Pinkett-Smith

Despite the missed opportunity to appear in a ’90s classic, Jada’s choice reflects the values she held dear and the lengths she was willing to go to support ‘Pac. Now, here’s the ever-growing question that seems to have taken on a life of it’s own in these social media streets: I Love Old School Music fam do y’all think Jayda and Tupac, whom Jayda has now referred to as her soulmate that she claims to never have been intimate with –but I digress– were just friends? Or do you think they had a thing goin’ on like Billy Paul sang about in his “Me and Mrs. Jones” classic? Just curious.

Days after the recent raid on a Las Vegas home that cops seemingly suspect of being connected to Tupac’s murder investigation was conducted, law enforcement officials have now revealed what was taken from the residence on July 17, 2023.

According to reports, the property records of the search warrant indicate that a house connected to the investigation into the killing of Tupac Shakur belongs to Paula Clemons, the wife of Duane Keith Davis, also known as “Keefe D” (seen in the video interviews below). Keefe D. claims to be a witness to Tupac’s fatal shooting in 1996. The search warrant reveals that the police were searching for items that could provide evidence of motive, or the identity of the suspect…such as photos, undeveloped film, insurance policies, letters, address and telephone records, diaries, and other documents.

During the execution of the warrant, it’s now being reported that the police seized several items from the home, including tablets; an iPhone; five computers; USB and hard drives; photos; “purported marijuana”; a copy of a “Vibe” magazine about Tupac; and a copy of the book, “Compton Street Legends,” authored by Keefe D with Yusuf Jah. The affidavit requesting the warrant also mentioned the search for notes, writings, ledgers, and other documents related to TV shows, documentaries, YouTube episodes, book manuscripts, and movies about Pac’s murder.

Keefe D.’s memoir, which was also found in the Las Vegas home, reveals details about reported street gang life and Pac’s murder. In the book, Keefe claims to be one of only two living witnesses to the shooting, with the other being Marion ‘Suge’ Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records– as a result of Suge the driving the BMW that Tupac was killed in at that time. Knight is currently serving time in prison for manslaughter in an unrelated case.

Keefe D. says he’s the uncle of Orlando Anderson, who has long been suspected of involvement in Tupac’s murder. However, Anderson denied the allegations prior to his death in a gang-related shooting in 1998. Although Keefe D. has done multiple interviews in recent years, discussing his self-proclaimed spot as a witness to Pac’s murder, many folks missed the 1998 interview he did with BET, making those same claims– that he reportedly was in the front seat of the car that pulled up alongside Tupac Shakur’s vehicle when shots were fired from the backseat.

As y’all know…three hours before the fatal 1996 shooting, surveillance video from the MGM casino captured Tupac, Suge Knight, and their entourage attacking Anthony Anderson, an L.A.-area gang member. Many speculate that Anderson and his associates sought revenge by shooting Shakur. However, just this week retired police lieutenant, Chris Carroll — the first officer at the scene of the shooting — told KSNV News that he believes Anderson was actually the one who pulled the trigger.

Carroll was also surprise about the search warrant that came 27 years after Pac’s death, because he believed that any hope of prosecution was a done dada long ago:

Via CNN- “I think it’s pretty significant,” Carroll said of the search warrant. “You know, I don’t think anybody saw this coming. It, it’s been 27 years. I think anybody had given up hope on any type of prosecution and this, you know, kind of changes the game and open things up.”

Carroll’s optimism is tempered. “I would be surprised if they even found anything in that home that is usable as evidence, but you know, maybe, maybe they did,” he said. “It’s 27 years later, it’s going to be tough to find evidence.”

Tupac was shot multiple times while leaving a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas. Authorities initially believed that ‘Pac was the intended target, but the investigation has remained unsolved since 1996.
When Tupac Shakur rose to stardom, he and his mother — former Black Panther member, Afeni Shakur — made headlines all across the country. Even after their deaths, they continue to be topics of discussion. But there’s one person in their family you don’t hear much about – the slain rapper’s sister, Sekyiwa Shakur. But now, she’s shared her story and turned quite a few heads with her transparency in what she had to say.

Tupac’s Sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, Shared Details On Her Struggles And Triumphs In His Shadow

Sekyiwa Shakur, daughter of Afeni Shakur and Mutulu Shakur; sister of Tupac

She wanted to maintain her privacy because of her last name

During a past interview with All Hip Hop, Sekyiwa shared details about the difficulties she’s faced over the years. Although she’s spoken out now, she wasn’t always open to sharing her life with the public. Her brother’s inability to escape the public eye influenced her decision to keep her personal life under wraps. “I kind of like my privacy. Because [as seen with] my brother, his real name was his stage name, he couldn’t escape into a private world. I didn’t want my identity out there.”

Her battles with mental health, depression, and her parents’ personal struggles

Over the years, Sekyiwa said she had bouts with bipolar disorder and depression:

Via 2PacLegacy.net – When I was growing up my mother [Afeni Shakur] was going through depression,” [said Sekyiwa Shakur]. Her brain was cut off at a certain point, when I needed it. Her fighting times were when Tupac [Shakur] was being developed, between his birth and 13. All this stuff happened between Assata Shakur being broken out [of jail].

My father [Mutulu Shakur] is in jail for breaking Assata Shakur out of prison. This happened when I was 5.

I’m bipolar. I battle with depression and suicide on a daily.

I’ve been hospitalized twice. After I left the hospital, I went through intensive therapy for three years, going to the therapist three times a week. I moved to Sausalito, California, where there was nothing but high class white people. They didn’t even know who Tupac was. I really needed to separate myself from the black community and it was almost like I was in refuge there. I was able to build my spirit back.”

On her struggles with being “dark skin”

Sekyiwa with her and Tupac’s mother, the late Afeni Shakur

In a column she’d written for AOL’s “Black Voices,” Sekyiwa shed more light on her insecurities. With her brother in the limelight, her last name carried a lot of weight and she often felt like she didn’t measure up to the mainstream stereotypical views of beauty. For that reason, she often found herself depressed:

Sekyiwa Shakur- “Growing up, dark-skinned, Black, with short hair, in a revolutionary family with a name like Shakur you deal with American issues with beauty, the girls with the pigtails. We’are always the outcasts of the neighborhood, always the ugly girl with the short hair – the African. Then I started feeling a little better about myself, and The Color Purple comes out and now I look like Celie [the character played by Whoopi Goldberg]. My beauty was always who I am, and I took it from my mother, did my hair [naturally].”

After Tupac and their close friend, Khadafi, died Sekyiwa struggled even more

Sekyiwa Shakur

Even after winning a beauty pageant in high school, she was faced with another life-changing experience that, once again, made her question her beauty:

“When I was like 16 or 17, I won a beauty pageant in high school, something like the Black Nubian Queen,” explained Sekyiwa. “Six months after that, I got pregnant and I was a fat baby mama, living the life of a fat baby mama. When you have a beautiful person like Tupac as your brother, it’s a cruel mirror to look at, you know what I mean? He didn’t have the problems. I had the two of them [Khadafi and Tupac] once they died I wanted to put myself back to where they saw me. I had just let myself go.”

It’s a new day for Sekyiwa now

Things are quite different now for Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur– who’s now the proud mother of two children, Malik and Nzingha:

“When we moved back to Atlanta, where my family was, is when I was able to put all of my tools in play. So, just coming back home around black people, coming back to society and seeing the difference from how I was, before I went to the hospital, and how I am now and how I walk in my own faith and my own spirit. I’m not Afeni’s daughter, or Tupac’s sister, or Mutulu’s daughter, I’m my own being and I’m powerful.

Your opinion of me is none of my business.”

Well said Sekwiya…job well done queen.

Jada Pinkett-Smith has been sitting on a bombshell of a revelation all these years and has just revealed for the first time ever, what that is. Turns out, our girl, Jada, isn’t as ‘wholesome’ as many of us probably think she is- intelligent, talented, and beautiful, yes…but not entirely ‘wholesome.’

It’s no secret that she and ‘Pac were closer than close back in the day, although she says they were ‘just friends’ (with the exception of that one reported kiss). The thing that has us trippin,’ here at ILOSM, is what Jada revealed during her prior interview on “Sway in the Morning” satellite radio show.

Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tupac

She Was A WHAT?!!

Jada was on the show to promote the then-upcoming movie, Girls Trip. When asked about her relationship with Tupac, she started off by saying, “I haven’t been completely honest.” Then she proceeded to explain that she won’t reveal the whole story because she’s writing a book about her time with ‘Pac, but she did reveal one major fact: Jada was a drug dealer during the time that she and ‘Pac were homies and no, it was NOT Tupac’s doing. Jada was already in the drug game by the time she and ‘Pac became cool.

See what else she said in the video clip below:

“It’s kinda hard because I haven’t really told the whole story. […] When I first met ‘Pac…I was a drug dealer. […] As I was coming out of the life, he was going more into the life.”

Well ain’t that blip?!! Who would’ve ever thought Jada Pinkett-Smith- the talented actress, devoted wife to the legendary Will Smith, dedicated mother to Willow and Jaden, the generous philanthropist- was hustlin’ on the blocks of Baltimore, MD back in the day.

Now, we all know that Jada’s and Will’s marriage has had few bumps in the road, with Will even publicly admitting (on The Breakfast Club a few years ago) that he was jealous of Jada’s and Tupac’s ‘friendship’ back in the day. However, it’s still beautiful to see the 180 degree turn she’s taken in her life, and it’s equally as inspiring to millions of people. Can’t wait to read that book. And by the way, Will Smith is abut to drop his tell-all memoir about their marriage soon too…and it sounds like it’s gonna be hella interesting.

Kidada Jones, daughter of music icon, Quincy Jones, was the very last person to speak with her fiancé, Tupac, just moments before he died. In a very emotional recollection of what happened at the Las Vegas hospital, where ‘Pac died of gunshot wounds, the pain that clouded Kidada’s heart is evident.

Kidada Was With ‘Pac The Night He Was Shot & They Planned On Having A Baby

Kidada Jones was in Vegas with Tupac on that horrific night of September 7, 1996, when ‘Pac was shot on a Las Vegas strip. The two were also living together in Calabasas, CA at the time of his murder. According to Vanity Fair, they’d planned on having a baby; and whenever ‘Pac was on the road he’d call Kidada nightly, ending their call with the words, “I’d take a bullet for you.” That’s how much he loved her.

Tupac with his fiancée, Kidada Jones

‘Pac Was Tense In Las Vegas Hotel With Kidada

VF reported that the night ‘Pac was shot, he told Kidada he didn’t want to go to the Tyson fight, but he’d promised Suge Knight he would. However, he didn’t want her to be around the rowdy pack of people at the fight, so he told her to stay at the hotel instead.

In the hours leading up to the fight, Kidada says Tupac became more tense and when she asked him if he was planning on wearing his bulletproof vest he said, “No. It’ll be too hot.” Later that day she says their ride to Las Vegas was silent and ‘Pac seemed to have a lot on his mind. They made it to Vegas, she settled down in the Luxor Hotel, while he went to the Tyson fight at the MGM Grand. Hours later, ‘Pac came back heated:

Via Vanity Fair: “Some nig&a started a fight with me for nothin’,” [Tupac] told Kidada. “Something’s up. You stay here.” After a fast change into a basketball jersey and some baggy sweats, he was gone.

Kidada Describes Very Sad Hospital Moments With Tupac

Tupac and Kidada Jones

Kidada: When I got to the hospital they handed me a bag of bloody clothes and jewelry and told me, ‘He had no blood pressure when he came in. He’s had two blood transfusions and he is in the ICU hanging on by a string.’ I got a blanket from the hospital and circled the parking lot for nine hours. I said, “There’s no way he’s gonna die. There’s just no way. […] I walked around there ’til the sun came up….I was in complete shock.”-Via Q

What Happened Between Kidada & ‘Pac After He Regained Consciousness

Via Vanity Fair: [Tupac] regained consciousness once when Kidada was putting Don McLean’s “Vincent” into the CD player next to his bed. She heard a moan, and his eyes fluttered open. They were filled with mucus and swollen. “Tupac,” Kidada said, coming close, “do you hear me?” He seemed to nod. “If you can hear me,” she said, “move your feet.” The sheets rustled at the end of the bed. “Do you know I love you?” she said. “Do you know we all love you?” This time, the nod was distinct. As Kidada turned to the door, Tupac shook in convulsions. Then he slipped into a coma.

After ‘Pac’s Death “I Didn’t Want To Be Alive”

Via Q: Kidada said, “He and I lived together for four months and then he was murdered. […] It was the most horrible thing that ever happened to me. I knew we should’ve never gone to Vegas that night. I had a horrible feeling about it. I’ve gone over it in my mind a million times. It wasn’t supposed to happen. We weren’t supposed to be there. It was the worst possible thing that could’ve happened. [..] I never got to say goodbye. It’s not something that should happen to anyone. […] For a while afterward, I didn’t want to be alive. I was on my back, literally on my back, for months. My father [Quincy Jones] underestimated how that affected me and shaped and molded me as a human being.”

Six days after ‘Pac was shot, his beloved mother, Afeni Shakur, had no choice but to make the heart-wrenching decision to take him off life support on September 13, 1996. Rest on Tupac and Akeni Shakur…gone but never forgotten.

A Different World star, Jasmine Guy, and the late Tupac Shakur were much closer than the world ever knew. Not sure if there was ever an ‘entanglement’ between them, but their friendship sure was put to the test after ‘Pac was shot at Quad Studios in New York in 1994. In a prior interview featured on “The Art of Dialogue,” Jasmine Guy dropped several bombshells about her bond with ‘Pac and his family. She originally met ‘Pac when he had a guest appearance on A Different World. From there, they “started hanging out.” See what quietly transpired between them after Tupac’s ’94 shooting…

Tupac’s Mom “embraced” Guy at the hospital…

Jasmine first met Afeni Shakur and her sister in the hospital, after Tupac’s 1994 shooting. She says Afeni “embraced” her and they became friends afterwards.

“He had a lot going on” at that time…and he was scared…

Jasmine Guy: “First of all, he [Tupac] was shot 5 times, somebody wanted him dead, and walking around knowing that REALLY affected Tupac’s spirit. And there was a lot of what I call, spiritual fortification, going on around him. I mean, we were REALLY trying to just give that life back to him.”

Tupac with his security after 1994 shooting

Guy On Tupac’s Shooters & His Estranged Father Popping Up At Hospital…

JG: “There was fear, there was a LOT of mistrust. … Anybody who was involved in his recuperation had to go underground…because nobody [on the outside] could know anything. He was sure the people that shot him, knew him, that it wasn’t a random mugging. And the on top of that, he gets a visit from his biological father…who he hadn’t seen since he was…maybe 3 or 4.

For me, sitting on the sidelines while all of that was going on, my heart would always stop for a while and then just come back, because um…these were very emotional times. And I wasn’t a member of the family, but I was always around. For whatever Afeni embraced me for, I REALLY wanted to support them, and not just Tupac, but that family who depended on him COMPLETELY.”

Jasmine Guy Helped ‘Pac GO INTO HIDING After Shooting…

Soon after Tupac was shot, Jasmine says ‘Pac did not want to stay in the hospital, out of concern for his own safety. That’s when she opened up her heart and her home to him:

JG: “We realized that Tupac didn’t wanna stay in the hospital, or at his girlfriend’s house. So they [Tupac’s mom and aunt] called me to see if I could keep him while he was convalescing from his wounds. He had…5 bullet wounds that he was healing from, and he didn’t feel safe sitting up in the hospital bed.”

That’s Not All…Here’s What Else Jasmine Revealed…

Jasmine Guy visiting Tupac in prison.

Jasmine Guy Didn’t Care About Public’s Opinion Of Her Friendship With Tupac…Here’s Why…

“For me it was more about being there for the family and the trauma they were going through. They were a very close-knit family. And…I just felt happy that I could help in some way and that they allowed me to come into their very close circle. And also [happy] that…Tupac could chill a little bit and try to get better. … It was more about healing him and getting him strong, because he had a lot to deal with on the business level.”

Afeni and Pac’s “conflict”…
According to Jasmine, Tupac and Afeni loved each other to the core, but they also had consistent conflict over issues stemming from the past.

JG: “She’s a complicated woman. She’s very bright. Um…before her addiction took over, she was…very hard headed and very stubborn about the way she was gonna live and who wasn’t gonna tell her what to do. And then raising a boy child, who’s becoming a man- they had conflict.”

Wow, the things we learn when we do a lil’ diggin.’ It’s beautiful that Jasmine Guy was willing to help Tupac in his time of need.

A while back Stephanie Mills did an interview with radio personality, Egypt, on Atlanta’s V103. She talked about several things, but the most shocking of it all was what rapper she said she was crushin’ on big time! Scroll down to see who he is…

Who’s Her Crush?

Embed from Getty Images

Stephanie Mills was crushin’ on none other than the late, great TUPAC SHAKUR! That’s who Stephanie said she would have loved to date back in the day! Can you believe that?!! Here’s what she said:

STEPHANIE: My favorite- my all favorite time rapper is Tupac. See I could have been Tupac’s girlfriend.

EGYPT: Stephanie… wait, stop stop stop stop. Stephanie Mills just said she could have been Tupac’s girlfriend. I’m done.

STEPHANIE: You know I could’ve. I love Tupac. Oh my God yeah.

Okay here’s the question: What would it have been like had Stephanie actually dated ‘Pac? We put together this fun, hypothetical list of a few bumps in the road that we think that relationship would have faced:

1. Stephanie would have had to probably fight Madonna over him. Yep, Pac was dating Madonna in the ’90s. Madonna just confirmed their relationship in recent years on the “Howard Stern Show.”

2. Quincy Jones’s daughter, Kidada Jones, wouldn’t have been too happy if Stephanie and Tupac would’ve hooked up. As most of you all already know, Kidada was dating Tupac at the time of his death, and she had his face tattooed on her arm…now, that’s love on a whole ‘notha level right there.

Tupac and his then-wife, Keisha Morris

3. Stephanie Mills and Kidada would have had to also deal with Keisha Morris. Keisha was Pac’s wife up until just 3 months prior to his passing. She’s not in the entertainment industry, and most people didn’t find out about her until after Pac died. Turns out, ‘Pac got married to Keisha in August of ’95 while he was imprisoned. Their marriage was annulled 10 months later in June of 1996 (after Pac was released from prison). Sadly, just three months later, in September of ’96, ‘Pac was tragically killed. Keisha said Tupac always told her that he didn’t want her to be thrown into the drama surrounding him, so they agreed to end their marriage.

4. Overall, Stephanie Mills would have probably had to be a ride-or-die-chick, which is something that totally does not fit the mold of the classy lady we all know Ms. Mills to be.

Simply put, a relationship between Stephanie Mills and Tupac would’ve likely been an oil-and-water type of blend.

‘Pac was like an updated version of Gil Scott-Heron when it came to his music – very wise, real, and controversial lyrical content. However, with the ladies in his life, ‘Pac seemed more like Prince, or maybe even basketball legend, Wilt Chamberlain…well, maybe not Wilt (and his infamous 20,000-women sex claim)…but you all get my point.

On the flip side, Stephanie seemed like she was always a good girl, so the only thing she probably could have done for ‘Pac in regards to a relationship, was use the 14 year age difference that she had over ‘Pac, to calm him down and offer him wisdom about life. Stephanie’s still got it though – beautiful voice, beautiful face, curves and all, and she’s making 64 look like the new 44!
