During Walter’s interview, DJ Kut mentions The O’Jays getting the same response as they’ve gotten from back in the day.

I mean, 57 years!” the host exclaims. “Talk to me.” So, Walter Williams gives Kut his inside motivation to continue.

“It feels GREAT! I mean, what we’re seeing in concerts now is three generations. People our age, their children, and their children. That’s the best compliment ever. We love it! We’re still energized by the crowd. They’re into it; we are REALLY into it.”

DJ Kut: What motivates you to say “I’m still on that stage”? What?
Walter: People! Especially, my people. They are the reason why. I still love it. But to go out and work, and see how they respond to those songs…we were blessed to have great writers and producers as well.

But later in the interview, the host comments he called his own mother upon learning Walter was coming for an interview. To that, Williams adds: “That’s who put us here. ‘Momma and ‘nem.’

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
