Here’s an Old School fun fact about Sidney Portier:
He only has one and a half years of formal education and learned to perfect his reading skills when a fellow waiter stayed for hours after work when they were both waiters (when Poitier was 17 years old) to teach him how to read the newspaper. Obviously Mr. Poitier didn’t allow his education, or lack thereof, to stop him from becoming an entertainment and political icon. Talk about dedication! That’s just a testament that if we really want something, anything is possible to attain…so never give up family.
