By now, we’ve all probably heard about the horrific shooting that took place at the Bordeline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA during the early morning hours on November 8. As the chaos erupted, news reports began circulating and the victims were being identified. Hours later, Tamera Mowry-Housley confirmed her niece, Alaina Housley, was one of the victims murdered at the hands of that mass shooter.

A Gorgeous Angel:

On Thursday, Nov. 8, the former Sister, Sister star took to Instagram with a post that left fans in utter shock. She shared pictures of her and her husband Adam Housley’s niece revealing she’d been part of “sweet, sweet Alaina’s” life since she was just a child. Initially, it was reported that Alaina’s phone appeared to have been inside the bar after the shooting. Tamera and Adam took to social media with pleas for further information.

After calling her phone repeatedly, there was never an answer. It was later confirmed, Alaina, who was a freshman at Pepperdine University, was inside the bar at the time of the shooting and she was one of the victims. Sadly, she just happened to be in the wrong past at the wrong time.

“Alaina. My sweet, sweet Alaina. My heart breaks. I’m still in disbelief. It’s not fair how you were taken and how soon you were taken from us. I was blessed to know you ever since you were 5. You stole my heart,” she wrote next to a photo of the smiling teen. “I will miss our inside jokes, us serenading at the piano. Thank you for being patient with me learning how to braid your hair, and I will never forget our duet singing the national anthem at Napa’s soccer game. I love you. I love you. I love you. You are gonna make one gorgeous angel. My heart and prayers are with every victim of this tragedy.”

Broken Hearted:

Shortly after sharing the post, the couple released a joint statement sharing their reaction to the 18-year-old’s untimely death. “Our hearts are broken,” the couple said in a statement. “We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks. Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”

Adam also released a statement on behalf of Alaina’s grieving parents.

“Words can’t describe our grief over losing our daughter… She was everything we could hope for in a child: kind, smart, beautiful and respectful,” the statement began. “We want to honor Alaina by focusing on how she lived her life. She would have enjoyed the public debate that is certain to happen after this tragedy. But she would have insisted that it be respectful with an eye toward solving these senseless shootings.” Her parents continued: “We send our condolences to the family and friends of the other victims. We especially thank Sgt. Ron Helus’ family for their sacrifice.”

Prayers up for the Housley family.
