Buffalo holds a special place in the hearts of Vanessa and Jim as the city served as an ice breaker when the couple first met. In 2012, Vanessa was vacationing in Egypt with her daughter Sasha. Sasha had just finished studying Greece and Egypt so the mother and daughter decided to tour the pyramids along with the Nile. While the ladies were on a Nile’s cruise, Jim Skrip was on that same cruise but he was alone. The tour guide encouraged Williams to go speak to Skrip. When Williams approached him, she noticed that he was wearing a Buffalo Sabers t-shirt. Excited, Williams asked Skrip if he was from Buffalo to which he replied “yes”. Williams shared on Wendy Williams how a dare motivated her to ask Skrip out on a date.

We were going to our last site and our tour guide said, ‘I sat next to this guy he’s traveling alone and he’s single. You should go talk to him.’ I said, ‘C’mon…” So I went up to him and he was wearing on a Buffalo Sabers t-shirt. And I said, ‘Are you from Buffalo?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, “My mom grew up in Buffalo and my brother’s a big Bills fan.’ We started talking football and stuff, collected our bags and stuff. Then my tour guide kind of dared me. Well, ask him out tonight. I said, ‘C’mon it’s my last night. He’s already on his bus how am I going to get in contact with him?’ She said, ‘Hold on a sec.’ So she calls his tour guide and the tour guide said, ‘Here, the phone’s for you.’ I said, ‘I know it’s my last night and I know we just met but can you have dinner with me at my hotel?’ And he came with me and we had a beautiful 3-hour dinner, Williams said on the Wendy Williams show in 2016.

The couple dated for two years before Skrip proposed in November 2014. Williams happily said yes as she declared that Jim would be her 3rd and final husband.

Vanessa Williams And Her Husband Jim Married Twice:

Williams and Skrip were first married on July 4th of 2015, but tied the knot again in a Catholic ceremony in 2016. The second time that Williams and Skrip married was on Memorial Day. According to PEOPLE magazine, Williams and Skrip married in Buffalo at St. Stanislaus church. Williams first walked down the aisle to Carmen Ruby Floyd singing “Ave Maria.”

Jim is a real man, Williams told PEOPLE of her husband at the time. You want somebody in your life who has integrity, who is solid, who knows who he is. He’s romantic and he’s a great guy.
