Verdict’s In: Judge Orders Mary J. To Dish Out Major $$$ In Spousal Support

Posted On : June 8, 2017

Well ILOSM family, we’ll start this Mary J. Blige/Kendu Isaacs article off with an ode to Johnnie Taylor’s classic: “It’s cheaper to keep [him].” That’s one message Mary is getting in the midst of her nasty divorce battle with her soon-to-be-ex-husband of 14 years.

After months of stressful divorce proceedings, accusations, and failed negotiations, a judge has just handed down their verdict in the spousal support case. Good news is Mary has to pay WAY less than the nearly $130K Kendu was trying to stack monthly from her. Bad news for Mary (and I guess for Kendu too, since he originally demanded so much more) is that it’s still a pretty penny she’s gotta shell out to dude on the regular.

Mary Is Paying HOW MUCH?!!

Mary was just ordered to pay $30K a month to Kendu in spousal support, plus a huge back support bill and she has to cover his legal expenses. Check out the details below:

Via TMZ: A judge has ordered [Mary J. Blige] to pay [Kendu] Isaacs $30,000 per month in temporary spousal support. […] The court found [Kendu] was entitled to some dough to accommodate the standard of living he was used to while married to Mary, but also decided his dream number [$129,319 monthly] was unreasonable. Mary will also have to pay retroactive spousal support dating back to September … and his attorney fees — that comes to $235k. One last interesting note … the court says Mary and [Kendu] were living beyond their means during their marriage and still have millions of dollars to pay back in taxes.

Dayumn, that’s a lotta paper! The O’Jays said it best: “Money, money, money, money, mon-neyyyy!…Some people got to have it, some people really need it…Do things, do things, do bad things…For the love of money…”
