On New Year’s Eve, Erykah Badu found herself in a predicament most black people dread – being pulled over by the cops. The 46-year-old singer was out and about in Dallas, TX but at some point during the drive, she was pulled over by a police officer. With all of the seemingly harmless traffic stops that have quickly gone awry, the singer turned on her camera and began filming.

Pulled Over For No Reason?:

After pulling over on the side of the road, Erykah Badu’s camera began rolling. The singer turned the camera toward the two officers standing outside of her car. She jokingly said while sharing the footage with fans, “Okay, it’s New Year’s Eve and I just got pulled over.” Then she asked them, “And why are you pulling me over?” One of the officers wasted no time answering the question and surprisingly, he had a very interesting response. Apparently, he recognized the famed singer and he happens to be a fan. So, he simply said, “Because I wanted to say Hi.” Check out the video:

Based on the video, Erykah’s reaction made it clear that she wasn’t exactly flattered by the gesture but she played it off really well. However, fans wasted no time sharing their opinion of the traffic stop and many weren’t pleased.

Fans’ Reactions:

Although the cop meant no harm and obviously found the stop to be comical, fans were pissed because the officers used their authority for personal reasons. In fact, a few fans bashed the cop for his actions. “I think it’s against their department policy to do that. Idk, but I would have seriously been pissed,” one fan said.
