When they entered the game as teens, the Xscape members were like family, but soon after their success in the 90s, several things happened:

1.  Kandi voiced frustration with how the label was mostly pushing LaTocha as the lead singer, although all of them were supposed to sing lead.

2.  Tensions rose when LaTocha’s then boyfriend (now husband), Rocky Bivens, started managing the group.

3. LaTocha and Kandi had a fist fight.

4.  LaTocha left the group to pursue a solo career.

 

5.  In 2007, Tamika Scott went on the radio and said Kandi was to blame for the group’s demise because she claimed Kandi was sleeping with their boss, Jermaine Dupri, and his daddy, Michael Mouldin, which was a half-lie. Kandi never had any sexual contact whatsoever with Jermaine’s father…

6.  Kandi fired back at Tamika her for blatantly lying on her about sleeping with Dupri’s dad and for blaming her for the breakup. Kandi admitted she and Dupri had a sexual relationship back then, but that caused zero drama at that time. It eventually was confirmed that, Kandi was telling the truth and Tamika had lied on her about the whole ‘dad’ thing.

TENSION WAS STILL FRESH AS OF 2016

As recently as 2016, there was still tension between LaTocha and Tamika vs. Kandi and Tiny. The ladies also confirmed this ongoing tension on their Unsung episode in 2016.

Also in 2013, So So Def had a big reunion concert and Kandi said she’d NEVER reunite with Xscape for that performance, unless Tamika publicly apologized and told the world she lied on her. Tamika apologized in private to Kandi, but not in public and Kandi thought that was shady, so she didn’t perform and apparently Tiny agreed with Kandi, because she was a no-show too.

Tamika and LaTocha performed as a duet version of Xscape and as of today, they still do.

Whew! Okay people, we know that was a lotta drama, but did you get all that?
