What The? See What Old School Legend Rapper Soulja Boy Just Cursed Out!

Posted On : October 30, 2015

teddy riley1Soulja Boy disrespected Teddy Riley, who is also the father of Soulja’s longtime girlfriend, Nia Riley.
soulja boy and nia rileySoulja’s disrespect of Teddy stems from the tension Soulja and Nia had on the show, Love and Hip Hop Hollywood, regarding their relationship. Nia found out Soulja was cheating on him with another woman on the show, she ended up having a fight with the woman and on the following episode, Soulja apologized to Nia and called her a “bitch” in the same breathe. Teddy popped up in the next episode to try to talk some sense into his daughter to no avail and after that episode aired last week, this is what Soulja posted to Twitter before eventually deleting it from his page…

Apparently Soulja and Nia are officially not together and this non-talented, can’t stay on beat even if his life depended on it, lyric-less so-called rapper, Soulja Boy, took to his Twitter page to officially curse out the legendary, super talented Teddy Riley?!!

The nerve of this dude! Okay as you can see, I am not a fan of Soulja Boy as an artist and now I’m not feeling his character as a man. He even cursed Nia out on Twitter back in January of this year, calling her a “stupid hoe.” Here’s what he said to her then…
Screen Shot 2015-10-29 at 8.27.33 PMKeep in mind that Soulja and Nia have been dating off and on for about nine years, so you’d think that as a man he would have more respect for her just by default, and simply call her on the phone to tell her these things instead of blasting her, or her Pops in public like that. He’s got a lot of growing up to do and another thing is that Soulja obviously didn’t do research on the man who he is actually disrespecting:

  • Teddy Riley is responsible for creating an entirely new genre of ‘soul’ music when he created the New Jack Swing sound. Can Soulja Boy say that? NO.
  • Teddy has sold a ridiculously high amount of records (either directly or indirectly through the many multiplatinum selling artists he’s written and produced for) that Soulja would never be able to sell even if he released one album every week from now until he’s 77. Sorry Soulja, but there ain’t no way that “music” you create would ever entice that many people to actually spend their hard earned money on it.

  • Teddy has created some undeniably timeless music throughout his career, not only for his groups Guy and Blackstreet, but for everyone from Michael Jackson to Doug E. Fresh and The Get Fresh Crew. Can Soulja Boy say that he’s created timeless music for any icon of his era or the prior era? I think not.
  • The only thing Soulja Boy and Teddy Riley have in common is that they both became professional artists while they were still teenagers, but there is one major difference- Teddy had (and still has) talent and Soulja Boy does not. I guess one way to look at it from Soulja’s perspective is that it takes a certain level of dedication to spend all that time doing something and never improving a smidge past the very first day you started. SMH.

Now that I’ve laid out their differences it’s time for Soulja to bow down to an example of an entertainer that he will never be, Teddy Riley, and thank him for cracking the door to allow his ungrateful self to walk through. After all, what would today’s rap have been if Soulja wouldn’t have yelled “Watch me Superman that hoe! Watch me yoooo, crank that Soulja Boy?” In other words folks, we have Teddy Riley to thank for great music of yesterday and Soulja Boy to blame for today’s state of hip hop.

The next time Soulja Boy thinks about cursing out Teddy Riley and has daughter, Nia, he needs to take a chill pill and settle back down into his place….far beneath Teddy’s level.

Real talent…

Soulja Boy’s talent…

‘Nuff said!

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
