Throughout the years, we’ve all learned that simply because one was found ‘not guilty’ in a criminal case, doesn’t mean they still can’t get the brakes sued off of ’em for that SAME case. It’s somewhat of a weird concept that seemingly contradicts the ruling of the actual criminal case ruling, but it happens… just ask O.J. Simpson, Nick Gordon and several other people who seemed suspect as hell but got off.

This go ’round though, a woman is attempting to collect some coins from Floyd Mayweather Sr. in an odd assault case.

Why He’s Being Sued

In January 2018, a woman named, Marsha Byrd, sued Floyd Sr. over an alleged incident she claims happened four months prior to – in June 2017.

According to Ms. Byrd, Mayweather Sr. assaulted her while they were leaving the Canelo vs. GGG fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Her lawsuit stated that she and Mayweather Sr. were walking to his car together after the fight, when they got into an alleged argument.

Ms. Byrd claims once they got into his car, Floyd Sr. told her to get out of his vehicle. However, Byrd says when she refused to exit his ride, Mayweather Sr. allegedly got out and dragged her out of his car by her leg. Then she says he punched her in her leg, before speeding off without her.

After Marsha Byrd filed her police report months later, an arrest warrant was issued for Floyd Sr. in January 2018. The only prob’ for Marsha, was that since day one, the retired boxing OG has adamantly denied her claims. In fact, his rep’ stated at that time, that Ms. Byrd was simply “trying to extort money and she’s angry because she’s not getting the money from Floyd. It’s not going the way she wants it to go.”

Then came the biggest blow to Marsha Byrd.

On June 16, 2018, Mayweather Sr. was cleared of all assault charges and found NOT GUILTY in a court of law. At that time, Mayweather’s rep said, “The truth came out. Floyd Sr. is very happy this is behind him. He was never guilty. He’s happy it’s over. … This is what greed does.”

Welp, only prob’ for Mayweather Sr. is that it ain’t over. Ms. Byrd is back like she never left and is now filing a civil suit against him, despite the fact that he was found not guilty in the assault case. It’s unclear how much paper Ms. Byrd is trying to hit Floyd Sr. up for.

What is clear, is that she is not bowing out without a fight.
