As of late, when you hear the name R.Kelly, your attention is often drawn to his alleged cult of young women who are supposedly “sex slaves” unable to leave. Because R. Kelly’s name is often connected to scandal, people tend to forget that he’s a devoted father of 3 children: 2 daughters and 1 one son. So much attention has been focused on R. Kelly’s transgender daughter, that people tend to forget that he has another daughter that is musically gifted as well. With her mother’s beauty, AriiRaye Kelly, has a gift for music and another hidden talent also.

This may come as a surprise, but R. Kelly has 2 daughters from his previous marriage to choreographer/former Hollywood Exes reality star, Andrea “Drea” Kelly. Much of the attention about their 3 kids was initially drawn to one of their daughters, Jaya -a proud transgender teen who now goes by the name Jay- bravely coming out a homosexual a few years ago. However, their other daughter, AriiRaye, was introduced to here Pop’s fans in 2015, when she sang on the song, Wanna Be There, from his album, The Buffet. Much different from his other ballads, R. Kelly vulnerably opened up about their father/daughter relationship in Wanna Be There, because it focuses on his once strained relationship with AriiRaye, when she was a teenager and they were both brutally honest about the ups and downs they went through. Initially, she was hesitant to record the song, but with encouragement from her dad, ArriRaye performed with the hopes of touching other young girls and their fathers. R. Kelly spoke about the importance of the song to Black Kids Online.

Who can put that song together where the melody worked, the hook works and the lyrics connect? So that’s when I step in. As you can see, AriiRaye is beautiful like her mommy. She was given the name Joann Kelly at birth and AriiRaye is just her stage name. With big, deep eyes like her mother, she’s more than a pretty face. AriiRaye is pretty talented and she’s starting to make a name for herself.

Going by the name, b.u.k.u. on Instagram, AriiRaye showcased her art work. Of course, her mother, Drea Kelly showed her support by stating how proud she was of her and that she was dope. We’d have to agree with her mother. ArriRaye is pretty talented!
