Back during the Golden Era of Hip Hop Ice Cube’s protege Yo-Yo stomped into the 90’s with a booming voice on classic tracks like dancehall Queen Patra’s hit song ‘Romantic Call’ and the remix to Brandy’s ‘I Wanna Be Down’, solidifying herself as one of the pioneering voices in Hip Hop. And though she may not make as much music now as she did back then she’s still got her ear to the streets. So much that VH 1 is bringing her along to join the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.

Though there’s always tons of drama during any episode of the Love & Hip Hop franchise Yo-Yo will not be there for any of that. As one of the premiere femcess of the Golden Era her presence will more than likely bring class and grace to the show, which can get a little ratchet at times. Still, the Jasmine Brand reports that Yo-Yo is going to be joining the cast and showing the young bucks how it’s done since she’s not only a rapper, but an actor and entrepreneur as well.

Sources tell us that she’s already began filming for the hit VH1 show and she’ll likely take on the role as mentor.

While Love & Hip Hop will be her first stint on reality TV, her scripted credits include: Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society and other classic films

And while all of those accolades are amazing, she will forever be known for the hip hop classic ‘You Can’t Play With My Yo-Yo’

But aside from that news Yo-Yo shocked fans recently when she admitted that R. Kelly once tried to pick up her daughter while they were at the studio listening to his new album! What?!
