After Two Lawyers Quit, Cosby Hires 1 Of The Most Famous Powerhouse Attorneys Ever

Bill Cosby and Camille Cosby

Welp ILOSM family, just like the Old School saying goes, “One monkey don’t stop no show”…or in Cosby’s case, TWO monkeys don’t stop no show. Now that’s definitely not to compare Cosby’s two former attorneys to ‘monkeys,’ for all our politically correct readers. It’s just a figure of speech that the soul group, The Honey Cone, once sang about in the 1960’s. Moving on…

Two Attorneys Said Peace Out

Cosby has just lawyered up with one of the biggest powerhouse attorneys of all time, to replace one of the two attorneys who recently quit his legal team- Brian McMonagle and Angela Argusa. Both attorneys helped Cosby fight his recent case in which he’s being sued by former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand.

Bill Cosby photographed with Angela Agrusa outside the Montgomery County courthouse as she speaks to the media.

Constand claimed Cosby drugged and sexually molested her in 2004, when she went to his home to have a one on one dinner with him. Cosby says the sexual contact was completely consensual. The trial was declared a mistrial in June 2017 and they’ll be heading back to a Pennsylvania court for retrial come November 6, 2017.

As we previously reported on August 3rd, Atty. McMonagle put in his resignation notice and promised to make the transition smooth for Cosby’s new replacement. Then on on August 15th, Atty. Angela Agrusa, asked Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O’Neill for permission to withdraw from Cosby’s case, and also for a later retrial date so that he could fairly find new legal representation on such short notice, according to Fox News.

New Attorney Ready To Fight In Court

Attorney Tom Mesereau and Michael Jackson

It looks like Cosby’s made one step in the right direction by hiring Michael Jackson’s former attorney, Tom Mesereau. Remember him? He’s the cat who was able to dissect and expose the family of the kid who claimed that MJ had sexually assaulted him. He also successfully defended actor, Robert Blake, in court during the mysterious murder trial of Blake’s wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley.

According to TMZ, Mesereau’s first court appearance for Cosby is on Tuesday (8-22-17) and both Bill and Mrs. Camille Cosby are happy to have him on board. Now Cosby just has one more attorney slot to fill.

We’re not sure why Cosby’s lawyers eventually quit him, including another powerhouse attorney, Monique Pressley -who’s now reportedly R. Kelly’s attorney– but maybe this go ’round,  Atty. Mesereau  will stay for the long haul.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
