As a pioneering member of Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland knows a thing or two about how girl groups can become super successful. And even after the group disbanded in 2006 Kelly, along with group members Michelle Williams and Beyonce Knowles-Carter have all achieved success. In an attempt to impart her knowledge of the music industry to the next generation she participated in a reality series titled Chasing Destiny searching for a girl group to rival the success of Destiny’s Child. However, once the group was selected and the camera’s stopped rolling Kelly decided it was time to move on. And the group she formed is now speaking out.

Hot New Hip Hop reports in 2016 Kelly and director/choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. created and starred in the short-lived BET series Chasing Destiny, hopeful to find the next big thing in music by auditioning hundreds of women to become a girl group. After waves of talented ladies applied the group was whittled down to five members.

Brienna, Kristal, Gabby, Ashly & Shyann, better known by their collective name June’s Diary, have been navigating the waters of the industry without Kelly as their guide, yet they admit it’s been that way for quite some time now.
