History: Miss America, Miss Teen USA, And Miss USA — All Black Women For The 1st Time

This melanin is representing though! For the first time in American pageant history, the winning beauty in the United States is the Black woman.

The United States has endured and is still battling a long history of racism and prejudice. But in recent decades, the U.S.’s elite pageants have broken racial barriers.

For instance, Vanessa Williams became the first Black woman to win the Miss America in 1984. Then, Carole Gist won Miss USA in 1990. Also, Janel Bishop won Miss Teen USA in 1991. All as barrier-breakers.

But now…

For the first time ever, Black women have taken home the crowns of all three major pageants “at the same d**n time!” If this isn’t Black girl magic, what is??
