R. Kelly Accuser Wins Lawsuit Against R. Kelly Because He Didn’t Show Up For Court
The sexual misconduct allegations against R. Kelly are as vast as his catalog of music, and since the premiere of Lifetime’s very detailed documentary Surviving R. Kelly he’s been on a different kind of tour where he’s trying to get back in everyone’s good graces. One way to do that would be to show up when you’re due in court, however Kelly didn’t get that memo.

Although the allegations against R. Kelly have been a constant murmur in the background since the 90’s the noise got a little louder when a questionable sex tape surfaced in 2002. With the release of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary the sex tape allegation, as well as an infamous rumored marriage to late singer Aaliyah when she was a teenager were also brought into the conversation. And it’s been hell for Kelly since then. He’s continuously denied he’s done anything wrong as he also bombed a highly watched interview with Gayle King that turned him into even more of a spectacle than he already is. But what many fail to remember is that Kelly’s antics aren’t necessarily new. He pulled the same theatrics in an interview with BET back in 2008.
In 2017 journalist Toure’ gave his thoughts on his 2008 interview with R. Kelly (via The Daily Beast);
From there the interview went downhill as things grew increasingly tense. I tried to ask him about his nickname the Pied Piper if he would stop using it but he refused to see any connection. Late in our 40 or so minutes together I asked if he could tell his fans that this would never happen again. I meant his child pornography trial. He knew that. But he looked at me disdainfully and said, “Oh I can promise you this interview will never happen again.” I don’t recall how the interview ended—he didn’t storm off but I can tell you it wasn’t a warm goodbye.
