Daughter Speaks Against R. Kelly’s Dwindling Child Support Payments…
When daughter, Buku Abi, was asked how R. Kelly’s late payments “affected” her college financing, Buku stated:
“It has definitely affected me with attending school, but we have gotten everything figured out. I mean, it’s his responsibility, but at the end of the day, it has to be done.”
Although she says it’s R. Kelly’s responsibility to pay child support for her until she turns 23, she stressed that she doesn’t “need” his financial help:
“I just wanna get one thing clear, I don’t NEED his money. It is his responsibility as my father. I don’t need it and that is exactly why I’m doing this show [Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta], because I have my own life, I have my own career, I do my own music…I have things going for me.”
But Buku reiterated it’s still her Dad’s responsibility to take care of her because he decided to procreate with her Moms:
“That is your responsibility…you chose to lay down with my mother and have children with her.”
