His team — apart hanging him out to dry — says the singer actually could not read the documents he was served, and thus missed the court appearance. So in light of this shocking discovery, neither party objected to reinstating the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed by a woman identified as ‘H.W.,’ who is one of the four women that Kelly is charged in a criminal case with sexually abusing,” NBC News reports. “She contends she began a sexual relationship with Kelly in 1998, when she was 16.

The source mentions that R. Kelly is now scheduled to reappear at a hearing, regarding his child support case — a situation unrelated to the lawsuit.

Regardless, Kelly still denies sexual abuse charges brought against him — even while facing 10 counts of felony aggravated sexual abuse. Concerning the case, R. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all accused charges.
