In the midst of the powerful #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, many male celebs have been getting called out. One of the most recent, was Def Jam mogul, Russell Simmons, whose sexual assault allegations begin toward late 2017. There were seven claims total -all of which Simmons adamantly denies- that date back as far has the early 1980s, from female associates of his past. However, as Bill Cosby gets ready to head to prison following his Thursday sexual assault case conviction, the pending allegations against Russell Simmons has just been cut down to six.

Details Of $5 Million Case Being Dropped

Word surfaced on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, that one of Simmons accusers, Jennifer Jarosik, has dropped her case. Jennifer filed a $5 million lawsuit against him in January 2018, after claiming that Russell raped her in 2016. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Russell and Jennifer ‘filed a joint stipulation of dismissal with prejudice,’ meaning that Jennifer can never take Russell back to court over this issue.

This is good news for Simmons no doubt, but the new legal docs that have become public record, is bad news for Jennifer Jarosik. Why? Because in the court docs, Russell and his legal team shut her down with receipts that seem to totally discredit her timeline of events regarding her prior rape allegations…

Bombshells Surface In Court Docs

In an April 4, 2018 legal response to Jarosik’s claims, Simmons and his legal team unleashed a flurry of emails and text messages they say Jarosik sent to Simmons throughout 2016 and 2017, long after the day she’d previously claimed Simmons raped her. In those same docs, Simmons also stated that the alleged sexual encounter
was consensual. Read part of Simmons’ legal response in the documents below, via SCRIBD:

Recap Of Accuser’s Claims

Here’s what was reported regarding Ms Jarosik’s prior claims against Simmons…

Via Billboard: In documents filed [Jan. 24] with the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Jennifer Jarosik states that she befriended Simmons in New York city in 2006 over their shared “love and passion for meditation, yoga and a vegan diet” and trusted him due to his “reputation as a spiritual conscious person” and his promise to help her make her film.

When Jarosik was invited to Simmons Los Angeles house in 2016, she says, he asked to have sex to which she replied “no.” Simmons then allegedly got aggressive and pushed Jarosik onto his bed, causing her to hit her head as she tried to force him off of her. She claims Simmons then “pounced on her while she was still in shock and fear, and proceeded to rape her.”

“Defendant Simmons has historically thrived on the sexual exploitation of young women trying to break into the entertainment and music industry, in which young female artists are falsely promised opportunities and advancement by experienced and well-established men in power in the industry, with their careers in jeopardy if they resist the sexual overtures of these powerful men,” [Jarosik’s lawsuit] states.

It Ain’t Over For Simmons

Although the case involving Jennifer Jarosik is a don dada, he still has a pending $10 million lawsuit against him from another accuser, who is only listed as “Jane Doe” in legal documents. “Jane Doe” filed in March 2018, from an alleged incident from the early 1980’s. Simmons adamantly denied that as well and here’s what he stated in legal docs, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

“Her use of two of the most vile allegations possible – accusing well known defendant Russell Simmons of threatening to molest her son before raping her – is nothing more than an attempt by ‘Jane Doe’ to extort large sums of money from Mr. Simmons and for her lawyer to try to make a name for himself,” states the filing. “While Plaintiff’s case is substantively baseless and utterly false, all three causes of action ultimately will fail on statute of limitations grounds.”

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
