The former unofficial fiancee of Aaliyah, Damon Dash, spoke out in what was a rare showing of emotion for him (we say ‘unofficial fiancee’ because they weren’t officially engaged but Dame said they had marriage plans scheduled after Aaliyah would have finished filming “Matrix).

Typically Dame is more of a brash type of cat in interviews, but his appearance on “The Real” was anything but that. He spoke about the love of his life, the beloved Aaliyah, and revealed how he could have saved her life. He also revealed that Aaliyah had expressed some hesitation to him about flying in the small plane that she was ultimately killed in during the 2001 plane crash that claimed her life and everyone on board. DAME DASH: “IF I WAS THERE, WE WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN ON THAT PLANE”

Here’s what Dame Dash said on a prior interview on “The Real” talk show, when asked about Aaliyah’s plane crash and the conversation he had with her prior to that moment:

“There is no chance that, if I was there, we would have been on that plane.” he said. “So it would have never happened that way.”

“She told me she was going to the Bahamas and I was against it, like, ‘Yo, don’t go.’ And then down to the last — we had the Blackberry — down to the last Blackberry that we had, before she went there, she was like, ‘Yo, I don’t like that plane.’ And I was like, ‘Don’t get on it.’ And she was just like, ‘You know, I gotta do it.’ You know, it was a complicated situation, but she had to go do that video.”

“If I was there, I would have made sure that that jet that was supposed to be for her … she would have been on that,” Dash continued. “I wouldn’t have got on that plane, you know what I’m saying? So it probably would have been different. But you know um, everything happens for a reason. You know, and what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and you just gotta deal with the cards that life deals you.” -Damon Dash

On a prior episode of “Family Therapy With Dr. Jenn,” Damon Dash again, expressed some real emotions when he explained to Dr. Jenn how he turned into “an animal” after the deaths of Aaliyah and his beloved Mother. They both passed away in a short period of time.

It’s hard to believe Aaliyah has been gone for 15 years and it seems that she had so much more life ahead of her. It’s always hard to understand why some people have to exit this earth so young, but as we try to wrap our heads around understanding that, we can be grateful for whatever amount of time we had with them. According to Dame Dash, Aaliyah had gotten into a brief relationship with Jay Z. Years later,  Dame sat down with Hip Hop Motivation and made a revelation about both former best friend and business partners’ past relationships with the singer:

“I was going at her, but Jay was going at her. He knew her before I did,” Dame Dash said. “It was a situation where Aaliyah was the type of girl that would give you a shot. She didn’t care what people thought. So she’ll date you and be your friend. But you might end up in the friend zone… You wasn’t gonna just hit that. At least that was my experience.”

For fans, Timbaland and Aaliyah were like a collaborative match made in heaven; everything they touched turned to gold. From hits like “Hot Like Fire,” and “Four Page Letter”; to “One in A Million” and “Are You That Somebody,” Aaliyah and Timbaland always managed to bring music to life in the most creative ways. Aaliyah Impacted His Life:

Years after Aaliyah’s untimely death, Timbaland publicly revealed how he was madly in love with Aaliyah and how his love for her impacted his life.

“When I first met Aaliyah… I was in love with her. I said, ‘She (is) just a baby, I’m old’. I said to myself, ‘I’m just gonna be her brother’. Oh man, I was fightin’, I was fightin’ a lot – a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.”

Timbaland Fell Into A Decade-Long Deep Depression After Aaliyah’s Death:

Like most family members, friends, and fans of the singer, Timbaland was absolutely devastated when Aaliyah died. But Tim’s devastation lasted far longer and deeper than most…he recently revealed that he fell into a deep depression following Aaliyah’s deadly plane crash that lasted well over a decade. In 2015 –15 years after Aaliyah’s passing– Timbaland admitted that he was just getting to the point of coming to terms with the death of the woman he was extremely in love with until her dying day. Timbaland Admits To Marrying Ex-Wife Because She ‘Looked Like Aaliyah’

Although Aaliyah is gone, she had a major influence on Timbaland’s marriage years later. The hit producer admitted that one constant reminder he had of the singer was his now soon-to-be-ex-wife. According to Express UK, Timbaland explained how the woman he married initially caught his attention.

When Timbaland first laid eyes on music executive, Monique Idlett, she reminded him of Aaliyah. The two met in Jamaica while attending a music event. “When I first saw her, I said, ‘That’s the girl I’m gonna marry’, because she reminded me of Aaliyah… I thought I saw a ghost. I said, ‘Oh my goodness, do you see what I’m seeing? I ain’t crazy!'”

Timbaland and Monique tied the knot in 2008 and have a daughter together. They went on to become a massive power couple in the music industry and even collaborated together for the production of Empire. Back in 2015, the two discussed “making history together,” reports New York Post.

However, the relationship has taken a disheartening turn for the worse and it looks like Tim’ and Monique are headed for divorce – again. In 2016, Monique filed for divorce from Timbaland for the second time, and he was hit with serious allegations from his divorce attorneys.

According to the Daily Mail, Timbo reportedly failed to pay $440,000 to his divorce attorneys and now he’s been hit with a lien against his $5 million Miami, FL mansion. But, despite the legal woes, it looks like Timbaland is moving on for good, this time. In fact, Timbo has a new lady in his life and you can only guess who she resemblances. Surprisingly, she also favors Aaliyah…

We reported last week, that Lisa Van Allen, an alleged underaged girlfriend of R. Kelly, dropped a bombshell accusation, claiming that Kelly told her he slept with his Aaliyah’s mother, Diane Haughton.

“He did get a little more in-depth … more details when [Aaliyah’s] mother found out,” she says. “And he actually stayed at their home in Detroit and her mother actually was sexually attracted to him as well and he said when Aaliyah went to sleep, he would go in the living room and him and her would do sexual acts on the couch while Aaliyah was sleep in the bedroom.”

R. Kelly Responds – ‘Stop Smearing My Name’

Sources close to R. Kelly say he absolutely denies he and Diane had anything but a friendly relationship. We’re told Kelly believes the only reason Van Allen made those claims in the Vlad TV interview is to further smear his name and grab headlines for herself.

R. Kelly will be back in court March 22.

The Only Time Aaliyah’s Mom Broke Her Silence

Aaliyah’s mother has yet to comment on the allegations surrounding her and R. Kelly.

The notoriously private woman has never given any video interviews about her daughter since her death. But when Lifetime’s three-part documentary Surviving R. Kelly premiered on Jan. 3, Diane Haughton, released a statement.

She broke her silence in response to claims from R. Kelly’s former backup singer Jovante Cunningham. She alleges she saw Aaliyah and R. Kelly engaging in “things that an adult should not be doing with a child.” Haugton angrily denied the claims in a statement.

“The woman and so-called back up singer in the forthcoming “Surviving…” documentary that describes seeing, meeting or ever breathing the same air as my daughter, Aaliyah, is lying and is a liar,” Haughton said. “My husband and I were always on tour with her and at interviews wand every place she went throughout her entire career. Whoever this woman is, I have never seen her before anywhere on planet earth, until now.”

Singer/songwriter, Missy Elliott, penned a touching tribute to Aaliyah to mark the 17th anniversary of the late star’s death. To keep her legacy alive, the 47-year-old superstar took to Twitter to share a video of herself writing a handwritten note to Aaliyah.

Seventeen years after Aaliyah’s death, Missy Elliott is letting everyone know that the beautiful singer is always in her heart. On the anniversary of her tragic death, Missy created a video of herself writing a touching letter to her friend, Aaliyah.

In the video posted to Twitter, The “Work It” rapper showed herself writing a note to the “Are You That Somebody” singer, who died in a plane crash in 2001 at the age of 22. Missy said the following to the late Aaliyah:

“Aaliyah, we miss you so much, Elliott wrote. But your legacy will live on forever and ever!”

Elliott then pans the camera over to a pile of clothes festooned with Aaliyah’s name and face. It’s evident that she still misses her beloved homegirl immensely and it seems that Aaliyah’s death is still fresh for Missy.

Missy Elliott And Aaliyah Were Very Close: 

Missy Elliott shared a special bond with Aaliyah and she fondly remembers her and often tells stories about the native Detroiter:

“Aaliyah, she was like a comedian. She always wanted to laugh,” Missy reminisced when she once appeared on “RapFix Live” with Sway.

In speaking with Sway, Missy remembered her and her production partner, Timbaland, being nervous when they first worked with Aaliyah on her 1996 album, “One in a Million.” At the time that they met, Aaliyah was riding high off of her 1994 debut, “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.” Missy and Timbaland were just starting out and looking for a musical muse:

“We were nervous when we first worked with her because nobody knew who we was,” Missy said remembering that she feared Aaliyah would be a diva. “She came in and was so warming; she made us immediately feel like family.”

Missy Elliott described Aaliyah as a loving, family-oriented person, who was “always happy.” For Aaliyah’s 2002 film, Queen of the Damned, Missy recalled a funny story in which Aaliyah used costume teeth, that she got from a joke store, to practice lines for the film:

 “She had them teeth in, practicing her lines for ‘Queen of the Damned,'”  Missy said, laughing at the thought. “It was just so funny to me because I was like, if people could see this. She was a character, always happy.”

Many of us remember the day that Aaliyah and several members of her entourage died in a plane crash in the Bahamas – after completing filming of her music video for “Rock the Boat.” The group had a flight scheduled the next day, but was eager to return to Florida and decided to catch an earlier flight on a smaller plane. It crashed 200 feet from the end of the runway and exploded. An investigation later determined that it had exceeded its maximum takeoff weight and was carrying one excess passenger.

Music mogul, Damon Dash, who was dating Aaliyah at the time of her death, said in an interview that she would still be alive if he was with her that day.

Rest on Aaliyah, gone but never forgotten.

This go ’round of her controversial statements took aim at R. Kelly, the #MeToo movement, Aaliyah, the other young women R. Kelly associates with and their parents.

Wendy Speaks On The R.Kelly Protest

During a recent airing of The Wendy Williams Show, Wendy first started with R. Kelly and the recent #MuteRKelly concert protests two Atlanta women have sparked in order to end Kellz’s career. Here’s what Wendy said about it:

“It’s not going to work. Black people aren’t really good at protesting, not since the King march. […] See, there’s so many people that are like ‘He didn’t do it.'”

Williams Slams R.Kelly Calls Him “Sick”

She then vented about her dislike for Kelly, while simultaneously explaining why she feels that Kelly should not be included in the current sexual harassment #MeToo movement. Wendy used Aaliyah, as well as R. Kelly’s 2002 alleged sex tape scandal to explain her point:

“The #MeToo movement hasn’t affected R. Kelly, he wasn’t a ‘MeToo.’ Aaliyah voluntarily married R. Kelly when she was 15 years old and her parents voluntarily let her do it, when she was 15 years old.

Williams continued onto the topic of the recent allegations that R. Kelly was holding young women as ‘sex slaves at his home:

“Where are THEIR parents? Allegedly the parents are complaining, but where are their parents? This has nothing to do with the #MeToo movement. R. Kelly is just a very, very sick man.”

Why She’s Tired Of #MeToo Movement

Around the 15:30 mark Wendy then slammed the #MeToo movement even more, because she’s ‘sick of it’ and thinks it’s now being used frivolously by some, not all, accusers:

“I’m sick of this #MeToo movement. … I love that people are speaking up for the first time and coming out and everything. But….now…I look at all men like ‘You’re a #MeToo’…all of ’em, which is not fair.”

Today, January 16, 2018, marks what would have been Aaliyah’s 39th birthday and her dear friends- singer, Missy Elliot, and producer, Timbaland- are keeping her legacy alive. As they celebrated her memory on her b-day, they took to social media to pay touching tributes to the late “One In A Million” singer.

Timbaland’s Tribute To The Love Of His Life

Although his Aaliyah b-day tribute was short, it was filled with much emotion- emotion that Timbaland boldly revealed to the world years after her passing. Many of y’all may recall when we previously reported that Timbaland admitted he was madly in love with Aaliyah and fell into a severe depression after she’d passed away. In fact, he admitted in a recent interview, that his depression was so severe, that he has only recently began to truly emerge out of it. Here’s what he said in a prior interview:

“When I first met Aaliyah… I was in love with her. I said, ‘She (is) just a baby, I’m old’. I said to myself, ‘I’m just gonna be her brother’. Oh man, I was fightin,’ I was fightin’ a lot – a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.”

Then in a 2017 interview, Timbaland -who oftentimes refers to Aaliyah as “baby”- said that “when she passed, I passed”:

As we also previously reported, Timbaland publicly revealed that the reason he married his now soon-to-be-ex-wife, Monique Idlett, was because she looked a lot like Aaliyah.
