Comedian/radio host, D.L. Hughley, is never afraid to speak his mind….as was the case during his prior interview with Vlad TV, where he revealed a heated argument he had with Bill Cosby in 2009. Their argument was over the rape rumors at that time, and it all went down while D.L. was a radio personality at Kiss-FM radio station.

Hughley: ‘Cosby Was Being A D**k!’

Hughley said that Cosby called in for a radio interview. However, because D.L. knew Cosby wasn’t fond of him because of his raw style of comedy, he asked his two co-hosts to pretty much do the talking, while he remained quiet. That was the plan, but all hell broke lose after D.L. says Cosby immediately started talking down to his co-hosts and being rude. So that’s when D.L. stepped in and this is what he says happened next.

D.L. Hughley: For five minutes straight [Bill Cosby] was being a dick. I was like, ‘Mr. Cosby what is you’d like for us to know?’ […] He said “D.L. Hughley! You say ‘nig*a’ and I don’t like your comedy!” And he went in, and I was like, ‘With all due respect Mr. Cosby, I say ‘nig*a’, but no co-worker (of D.L.’s) has never woke up with her drawers on backwards.’ […] I said ‘Everything you are, you are because of your experiences and I appreciate that. But you’re not gonna denigrate what I’ve been through.’

The ‘Threat’

D.L. then explained that the radio station, Kiss-FM, was owned by Emmis Communications and apparently, Cosby had major weight over there. Because of Cosby’s weight at the station, D.L. then said Cosby threatened him and made sure their pre-recorded interview never aired…ever.

D.L.: Bill Cosby was [like] “That tape will never air” … and I said, ‘The f*ck it ain’t!’ And 10 minutes later, ALL the people from Image Communications came down, took the tape and made sure nobody else in the room had copies of it; and said, “If this airs, nobody in this room will ever work again.” So I know that that cat had the power to make people do sh*t like that.

Hughley also said that although his altercation with Cosby happened in 2009 — well before Cosby’s 2018 sex assault scandals — “everybody knew it” around the L.A. comedy scene.

D.L.: I grew up in L.A., did warm-up for a lot of those shows, everybody knew it. … Like, ‘Cliff Huxtable’ is innocent, but Bill Cosby fu*ked every one of them girls.

Carl Payne -best known as “Cole” on Martin and as “Cockroach” on The Cosby Show– has dropped a few interesting unknown facts about what went down behind the scenes between himself, Bill Cosby, and Malcolm Jamal Warner.

Carl Was Almost “Theo”?!!
In an interview with Comedy Hype, Carl revealed he was THIS close to jackin’ the “Theo” role from Malcolm Jamal Warner. During the final round of auditions, several known actors were in the building. He says Sheryl Lee Ralph auditioned for the “Claire Huxtable” role and Jaleel White (“Urkel” from Family Matters) almost became “Rudy” (which was originally scripted for a boy). Carl says that he, Malcolm, and a dude with a Jheri curl named, ‘Sugar,’ were the final three up for the role of the “Huxtable’s” son, “Theo.”

Cosby Explained To Carl Payne Why He Was Rejected…
As Carl Payne sat in the waiting area depressed, Cosby sent his assistant back in to take him to his office. Carl was surprised that Cosby wanted to explain why he’d rejected him for the “Theo” role:

“He [Cosby] was like, ‘Listen…you don’t always get a role because of your talent. … ‘I’m putting my family together [The Cosby TV family], so it’s a lot of different factors you know. You could be too dark skinned, you could be too light skinned, you could be [too] short, you could be [too] tall. … I just want you to know that it had nothing to do with your talent why you didn’t get this role. And I don’t want you to be swayed, or disappointed by that because you’re very talented. But I do want you to understand the business aspect of this.'”

His Last Convo With Cosby “Wasn’t A Good One”

“It wasn’t a good one,” Carl reluctantly admitted. “Listen, I’mma just tell you like this…the man was many things, know what I’m sayin’? As most geniuses and comedians are, you know…they battle a lot of demons and things like that.

I never saw any of those things [sex assault allegations] that they’ve talked about. So let’s just clear that up right now. I also don’t think that you can take away this man’s legacy in terms of what he did in the Black community and just in general for a generation. You can’t take it away. Whether he’s guilty or not? That’s between him and God, I don’t know.

But he wasn’t necessarily a nice man at times. Wasn’t a nice man, know what I mean?

Nonetheless he turned it into a positive. “I learned a lot,” Carl said of his bitter conflict with Bill Cosby. “And the thing about me is…I take everything and always turn it into something positive.” Well said.

When it comes to Phylicia Rashad’s Bill-Cosby-tweet controversy and the rumors that her current position as the dean of Howard University was in jeopardy as a result, we knew it was only a matter of time before the ever-so-outspoken R&B legend, Stephanie Mills, was gonna weigh in. And she went in hard.

In case you haven’t been privy to what went down in these social media streets over the past week, former The Cosby Show star, Rashad, caught the attention of many with her supportive tweet on Bill Cosby’s release from prison. On Wednesday, Phylicia Rashad tweeted, “FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!”, along with a photo of Cosby.

Soon after Rashad’s tweet went viral, many supporters stood up for her; while her opposers called for her termination from her newly appointed role as dean of Howard University, where she is an alumni.

Howard University initially released a statement stating, “Survivors of sexual assault will always be our first priority. … While Dean Rashad has acknowledged in her follow-up tweet that victims must be heard and believed, her initial tweet lacked sensitivity towards survivors of sexual assault. .. Personal positions of University leadership do not reflect Howard University’s policies.”

Though Howard seemed to still support Rashad, rumors have since surfaced of her possible termination, yet have not been confirmed by either party. This is where Stephanie Mills enters the convo’…

STEPHANIE MILLS’S CALLS OUT HOWARD UNIVERSITY, STANDS UP FOR RASHAD

The “Feel Good” songstress didn’t bite her tongue one bit when she addressed Howard University on the ‘termination’ rumors. She did so in a I-wish-they-WOULD-try-Phylicia-Rashad type of way. In her online post, Mills called out Howard U. for accepting thousands of dollars in funding from Bill Cosby throughout the years, basically stating that if they attempt to fire Phylicia over her Cosby tweet, then they should equally ‘attempt’ to give back every dime (as in millions of them) Cosby has ever given to their establishment as well:

iamstephaniemills – I love you @phyliciarashad ❤️❤️❤️. If it’s true that Howard University wants to terminate her Position because they feel her comments about Mr. Cosby were insensitive, then they should give back the millions of dollars that he donated to the university.

When Debbie Allen took over Different World as the director, her stint with Lisa Bonet as a part of the cast didn’t last very long, but it wasn’t because of her doing, it was because of Bill Cosby’s decision, according to Debbie.

Here is what Debbie Allen said was the real reason behind Lisa leaving Different World below:

“When I first took over the show [Different World] one of the first things I did was meet with Lisa Bonet and she secreted to me that she was pregnant.

She had married Lenny Kravitz and you know…I guess Bill had his feelings about that because he was possessive in a way. I mean they were his on-camera wife and children, but they still were his. I mean the way he was with Phylicia [Rashad] (Debbie’s sister) too, I mean, that’s a whole ‘nother story.
So I said ‘Well Lisa we have to go tell him.’ So I said ‘Honey, put some shoes on, don’t come up there with a bare foot…get your best dress, let’s comb your hair and let’s go up there to see him, let’s tell him together.’ So we got dressed, we went up there and oooh he could see us coming! He saw us a mile away he could see us coming (laughs). And he set there and looked at us and I said ‘Well we have some things that we want to tell you.’ He said, “What is it? Are you pregnant?” And then we were like ‘Oh my God.’ Then he said well what is so different about it? He looked at me, he said, ‘You were pregnant, your sister was pregnant, and so now what?”

And I explained to him how I wanted to use it [the pregnancy] on the show because that would be a great thing. To see a girl who’s [this] upper class kid, having a baby, not married because she didn’t want to be married…and the girls could root for her. I was explaining all that we could do. Well honey I was just blowing smoke and didn’t know it (laughs). He listened to it.

We started talking about stories and then immediately…maybe about two or three weeks later he was like “You know what Debbie? No. She’s pregnant, ‘Denise Huxtable’ is not pregnant, Lisa Bonet is pregnant not Denise. So no…no you can’t have it, no we’re not gonna do it, no.” So he took her back, I was so mad at him, I wanted to take her, but I understand, he just wanted her back. So she left us [the Different World cast] to go back home [to the Huxtable house], she ended up getting married on the show and whatever else happened over there.

All of these years, we’ve been hearing rumors about Lisa Bonet’s attitude causing tension between her and Bill Cosby and that still may true, but it’s good to get a first hand account from Debbie Allen, as to why she actually disappeared from Different World and ultimately from The Cosby Show.

Bill Cosby’s post-incarceration life has been filled with more drama than a little bit. And there doesn’t seem to be any signs of it slowing up anytime soon. Recently we reported how Cosby is spending his time in prison, teaching life lessons to crowds of inmates up to three times a week. Some of those lessons include ways of being a better parent. Perhaps he may need his own advice soon, now that there are claims of him fathering a second love child. If this latest claim proves truthful, then he may lose his biggest supporter of all- his wife of 55 years, Camille.

First Time Around

This isn’t the first time Cosby has been accused of fathering a child outside of his marriage. In 1997 a woman, named Autumn Jackson, came out the woodwork with claims that she was supposedly Cosby’s illegitimate daughter. Though he admitted to an affair with Jackson’s mother, Shawn Upshaw, he denied that Autumn was his child. When Jackson threatened to take her story to the tabloids, Cosby sued her…and unfortunately for Jackson, it did not end well. The New York Post reports;

The married father of five acknowledged kids had admitted in an interview that he’d enjoyed a “rendezvous’’ with Jackson’s mother. And Cosby, who all but said that he was, at best, a lousy husband and, at worst, a rank hypocrite, testified that he paid the mother and daughter $100,000 over the years to keep his image-crushing extramarital affair a secret.

In the end, Cosby won slobbering applause from starstruck jurors who convicted Jackson of extortion, conspiracy and crossing state lines to commit a crime — she threatened to sell a story of his possible paternity to a supermarket tabloid if he failed to fork over $40 million.

Jackson was sentenced to twenty-six months in federal prison, and it was never revealed whether Cosby is her father or not.

Now, there’s another woman claiming that Cosby is the father of her son, and after a recent theft of Cosby’s personal items, a DNA test may, or may not, prove she’s right.

Although there was a time when the name, ‘Bill Cosby,’ conjured up warm memories from his acclaimed television series, The Cosby Show, those days are over. During the current climate of the #MeToo movement and women speaking out against sexual abuse, Cosby’s name came up on more than one occasion. At first it seemed unbelievable that he would be involved in such heinous crimes. However, as more allegations popped up, it became clear that the general public didn’t know Bill Cosby, the man, versus Bill Cosby, the celebrity. Now that he’s been convicted and sentenced, Cosby is using his time behind bars wisely by helping other inmates get their lives together.

Imparting Knowledge

The general opinion is that Cosby’s steady fall from grace would make him the worse person possible to give out any type of advice, because look at where his alleged life choices have lead him. True, he was a successful comedian and entertainer for decades, but there was a time when he began lecturing the Black community in ways that split our affection for him. Some agreed with his thoughts, while others felt he was being condescending and out of touch with reality. In a now famous 2004 speech (known as “The Poundcake Speech”) Cosby took aim at the community for its reliance on material wealth, questionable parenting, and the rise of gun violence and public outrage.

“These are not political criminals. These are people going around stealing Coca Cola. People getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake. Then we all run out and we’re outraged. “Aw, the cops shouldn’t have shot him!” The h#ll was he doin’ with the pound cake in his hand?”
